      @milascave2 Год назад +6

      @@blacksquid270 The Tenderloin has been the part of town where stuff that is not tolerated elsewhere is tolerated since the tail end of the gold rush. That is the 19th century. The only reason it was not that earlier in the gold rush is because the whole city was like that then. It has been that way for almost as long as the city has been a city. But the COVID pandemic and the shut-down made it much worse. It has actually gotten better than it was at the peak of the shut-down.
      As to the people who opened businesses there, did they come from the other side of the country? In most cases, no. They came from. Other parts of the world. Latin America, South East Asia, South Asia, North East Asia and the Middle East have all had people who moved there and started business there. A smaller number of Africans have done the same. Why? Truthfully, the answer is market forces. Because it is so sketchy, immigrants who could not have afforded to rent a business space in the nicer parts of San Francisco could do so to hire, and they still do, Vacant places back up, though sometimes it takes years.
      That does not mean that the situation there is ok. I particularly dislike the number of unleashed pit bulls roaming freely on the sidewalks.
      But as for solving the problem by electing different politicians, the recall of progressive district attorney George Gastón, who was blamed for the problem with his lack of prosecution, was supposed to do just that. But I have seen no tangible differences since then.

    I've lived in San Francisco since 1984. The Latino drug dealers that run the tenderloin pay the tenderloin district police to stay out of the way. Why is it taking everyone so long to figure this out? And a portion of that money goes straight up into city hall. The corruption is absolutely disgusting in our liberal cities.
    But sure let's keep letting these Latin Americans come through the border unvetted. That's a great idea

      Sadly, nowadays street homeless are drugs addicts, and they are addicted to cocktail of nasty chemicals such as fentanyl, horse tranquilizer, elephant tranquilizer, sedative benzo, rat poison, nitazenes chemicals, P2P based meth, wasp dope, and other nasty stuff. That is in the pills they smoke all day long. They are quickly damaged mentally and physically beyond the point of repair. If they are aggressive, screaming, talking gibberish, talking to imaginary people, they are on meth and wasp dope. One dosage of P2P based meth causes paranoia and schizophrenia after only one dosage. Street addicts gradually destroy everything. Police does not apply any laws on street homeless unless they spill blood.

    And people laugh when you say "taxation is theft." This is what can happen. "We will use your taxes to make your life BETTER!" Then they spend it on a new football stadium, kick you out of the house you have lived in for 20 years and determine a "fair" market value to pay you for your troubles... with more taxpayer money. They will pay cops to beat you and arrest you for a seat belt infraction, but will show up 30min later to a call for a robbery or break in. The money going to schools is laughable and the education your children receive gets worse and worse year after year. When their police are caught being corrupt or abusive, they are protected from civil liability 90% of the time and any lawsuit is paid for with... your tax dollars. And this is just the local government! 🙄 "But who will take out our trash and fight our fires?!?" It doesn't cost 2% of your property value to pay for that. Just saying. It's just as bad at the federal level. "We get roads and infrastructure with those tax dollars!" Pennies on the dollar, my friend. The majority of your money is spent on bombing little kids in foreign countries. Hope you feel better.
    Taxation is theft.

    And then the city wonders why so many high-paid people are leaving (and taking their tax dollars)... the main shopping area of the city is dangerous as hell and they do nothing about it.
    Drivebys killing random people eating at restaurants.. it's a warzone. I've been to Mexico City and it's 10x better. It's kind of weird to see dudes with submachine guns in grocery stores, but it's hella safe... about half the people I know who've lived in SF for a long time (myself included) have been attacked or robbed at some point.
    No one reports it because nothing will happen.
    It sucks because it's like the perfect city for me in every other way.. I don't even care about the sky-high rents... but the crime is just on another level.

    The funniest part of this is that business owners never seem to get that their local politicians are purposely pushing the problem to areas targeted for redevelopment and profiting personally from crashing property values and reselling properties for a profit by suddenly directing law enforcement to act after taking over the distressed properties. Seriously, the Tenderloin District is right next to Union Square and people living in SF can’t see what is happening? It’s even worse in Oakland. The city government literally pays the homeless to set up camp in certain neighborhoods which magically become gentrified a couple of years later. If you think there is a homeless problem in California it’s because you aren’t the one profiting from it.
