I love your channel. You're so great. I'm an intermediate player. Just curious, how long does it take to work up a difficult piece like this? Or the Jimmie Lee Sloas tune you did. I'm just wondering how long I should allow myself to work up a tune. Any advice appreciated. Thanks!

Hey Lee! For this particular tune I reckon a week went by between me hearing it for the first time and recording this video. It happened in April so i probably wasn't that busy at the time which would have left me free to spend a couple of hours on it everyday. I'm a huge believer in transcribing tunes as faithfully as possible and the better I get the more in depth I like to go... as you can imagine that can be time consuming!

Hey man! Thanks for getting back! My question was just about your approach to learning tunes like this...do you break down every time signature, or just feel the syncopated hits and play? And also, how do you hear the root notes of some of those bass notes...sometimes its so low in the mix! Great playing btw. Dan

+Daniel Sing literally just... repetition! I take it section by section and repeat it until I get it right :)
