That was some pretty slick editing. So many of these do it yourself instructional videos drag on because the people that make them feel the need to film everything. It's great to see someone who manages to pack all of the necessary info (and a bit of personal charm) into a nice tight package.

    Very well put together video.
??: why didn’t you install the electrical connection while you were at it?
If needed, that would be a perfect time to add air bags.

Awesome video, you convinced me to do this myself on my new 2019 F250 Limited. I bought the new special socket for the bed bolts but my tool kit doesn't have a torx bit big enough for the M16X45 Torx bolts. It isn't a T45 as I have that and it's way too small. Any idea what size torx bit I need for the bracket?

If anyone has come here to find how to do this on their truck; and they have a spray in bed liner, here's a time saving tip. Get yourself a decent chisel or, a good wide blade flat screwdriver and a tape measure. Look at the install instructions and you'll see the rough dimensions of where the holes "should be" , and you can go ahead and scrape off the bedliner over those areas in a small 2" circle. You'll be able to easily find the factory dimples in the Aluminum bed. Now you can drill and you'll have a clean install.
Also, another tip. I was able to do mine without removing the bed, but unhooking everything, and using a jack and some 4x4 sections to lift the bed. I wedged some 4x4 chunks between the frame so give me space to slide in the mounting frame. Wasn't fun, but saved me the cost of having it installed. Been working great for 35k miles pulling a 38' Sportsman 5th wheel.

Great explanation on how to do this! Do you know when Ford started putting the guide dimples on the beds? I want to do this job to my 2011 F250, but it has rhino liner so I can't tell. If mine doesn't have the dimples, any idea how difficult getting the measurements just right would be? Thank you!

It’s great to see manufacturers integrating towing hitches into the trucks, and as it appears the kit contained many details such as fasteners with loc tight already applied. I seriously considering an F 250 purchase myself I’ve been impressed by many of Fords features over the other big three and I like the 6.2 gas engine as well.

I'm thinking that this is the correct way to do things. Especially by using O.E.M. parts and accessories, they're guaranteed to fit, and I presume are also covered by Ford's warranty too, in this case?
I was trying to see what size of engine is in that truck; I imagine it's an optional ( larger ) then stock by looks of the exhaust pipe?
I like the looks of 'plain' model trucks, it lend's itself to be easily 'customized' at will.

Yeah, I kinda thought it was a tad larger gas. engine than stock. that 6.2 can haul for sure.

Squatch, great video! You seem to be a great mechanic, and you describe and explain things wonderfully. I just bought the 2018 350 Superduty. It did not come from factory with the puck system, so I went to Ford Parts.com and ordered the kit. Here’s my question. The 4 ¼” and 3” holes that are drilled in be bed of the truck seem a bit large. These holes seem to give about ½” gap or a bit more. I understand that the finishing rings will cover the holes, but only by about 3/8”. Does there really need to be that much clearance, or would a 3 ½” and 2 ½” holes be sufficient? These holes would still provide ¼” clearance all the way around the whole. Just seems that removing the least amount of material is best, and not taking any chances that the cutout will sneak beyond the finishing ring. Any and all positive, helpful comments welcome, and thank you again for your videos.
BTW, the instructions in my kit do also call for the 4 1/4" and the 3" holes.

    • @kevinohlfs2836
      @kevinohlfs2836 5 лет назад +3

Hey Squatch, thanks for the input. Interestingly enough, I had just finished my project when I saw that you posted. I did end up going with the recommended hole size, and I'm glad I did. The extra wiggle room when lowering the bed, even with the factory guide pins, was good to have. And ther really isn't excessive clearance and the rings cover nicely.
It's very interesting that you said you do them at the dealership. Our dealership in Rapid City wouldn't touch it, said it was a liability issue.
Anyway, thanks again, and by the way, the Moline is looking great!

Good Job, however like mentioned below touch-up paint on the cut edges would have been nice to finish it off.

Squatch123 Just wondering how you marked the holes in the bed before cutting...meaning so the holes would match the metal mount , holes lined up , looked centered etc? This video answered alot of my questions so i can install mine lol Thank for any help.

Since this is a ford accessory I believe he mentioned the box was already pre-dimpled for the holes.
