I had Dell replace the KB and SSD on my 2 year old Dell G4 SE 5505 (16GB RAM, 4800H, 5600M) recently. Now the temps are quite high, with the 5600M GPU running at >95C at times, CPU >90C, even when running a game which isn't supposed to be that taxing (World of Warships). FPS can drop to 20-30's. IIRC the tech didn't repaste the thermal paste. Should I complain to Dell about the high temps or repaste myself? Still have a year of warranty left.
did you change the factory thermal paste? because mine is new and using 12% of processor with fans speed at 60%, i get 62°C.....i think is too hot for only 12% usage
Nope that sounds normal. Usually when idle clock speeds are high and when you are active and not just woken pc up from sleep those temps sound normal. Also fanspeed depends on your thermal profile in AWCC.
@@kunaikilla Yes, ever since i updated my Bios my keyboard does not respond, i tried to check via diag but it say that the keyboard is working properly
thank you, i kept it when i need to. My g5 5505 is a 2020 laptop amd ryzen 7 and i bought it in 2021, never touched it except for cleaning dust (the shop did it in 2021). It's warm with only youtube open (59°) and go up to +70 with a game, i could expect less after changing it.
Mine is a 2022 model, runs HOT when ambient is 23C. GPU can top >100C. CPU tops out at just under 100C. FPS drops to 20-30 on a game which is not really GPU intensive. I'm wondering whether to call a service under warranty, again. Dell had to replace my KB and HDD a few months ago. Not sure whether the tech re-paste the heatsinks.
Idk about others, but for me, I immediately noticed a difference. The shitty thermal paste that came with this laptop was smeared all over the motherboard.
I wish dell would let you adjust the fans on this laptop manually I picked up this new condition dell g5 5505 for 300$ witch was a great deal but I don’t see how my omen with ryzen 7 4800h an 1660ti has better temps then this dell

Was there a reason you didn't replace the first screw you undid?
Wtf? You left a lot of,crap on there..
That's what I'm thinking

Hmm at idle you're at 60% fan speed? I can't even hear the fan on mine unless I game.
I wish that you have a guide on how to clean or fix the keyboard of G5 SE 5505, I`ll waiting for your video thank you
You had a problem with the keyboard?
@@kunaikilla Yes, ever since i updated my Bios my keyboard does not respond, i tried to check via diag but it say that the keyboard is working properly
Shouldn't we clean the VRAM and apply thermal paste for that

Good video but way!!! To much thermal paste it should be close to the size of a pencil eraser tip...
Yo dude you came in clutch with this. (am hewetic)
horribly unclean laptop. if its kept that nasty there is obviously not much care around this machine. vents must be getting nasty often
don't worry i clean my vents pretty often its in a desktop case i built now :) with two desktop heatsinks pressing on the original laptop heatsink :)
@@jackietechlabs2081 you're the dude ive been talking to on discord. you're set up is crazy

Thanks for it dude
Did it actually make a difference on temps?
Idk about others, but for me, I immediately noticed a difference.

This is one of the most easy to open laptops I've ever opened up. And I opened up quite a few dozen different models.
Excess amount is mostly a myth.
Cover ur pc with thermal paste it will stay cool
Its not a myth my guy. Excess paste actually ends of turning into a conduit and starts to have an opposite effect
What are the temperatures like?
Before & After Temperature comparison would be a nice touch
Are those copper heat sinks
I LOVED THIS LAPTOP WHY DID I SELL IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Thermal pad changing tutorial?
😸✌🏻
if you could name each tool you have shown that would be great
i seem to have dropped the heatsink screw. what are the dimensions for the heatsink screws?
Bro what??? 😂😂 Better find a magnet ☠️

the rx5600m pulls up to 150W where as the 1660ti pulls around 80W..i think
300dollars wow how old was it when u bought it

Didn't clean the little chips around cpu and gpu. Should not we be cleaning them? Because they seem pretty dirty
They don't affect anything, but it looks cleaner if u do put some time into it. Don't be rough or you might pop some of those off!
thanks dude
What tool did you use
nice dude (am sn99)

Thnx man
This is great! Thanks
Ah I see a Dell razorblade laptop
