Factory turbos tend to run low boost and are meant more to maintain HP as altitude increases rather than add crazy amounts of power. I know Ski Doo’s turbo barely produces boost at low altitude and only gets up to like 2-4psi at 11,000 feet. I’m interested in what Polaris’s approach was.
@@literallyshaking8019 and Polaris claims this Patriot motor was built for boost in the beginning, minus pistons. I’ve seen a few guys with boosted SkiDoos going over 2500 miles on Instagram and RUclips with no issues. I hope with Polaris they can match if not beat those marks. Time will tell, but it’s gonna be fun to see how Cat responds to this.

As someone who pays money to purchase products from them I'd be passed every time I watched a video of factory riders with it while I'm sitting at home.

I don't doubt the turbo is awesome but I feel like it makes way more sense to just make a patriot 900, there's big bore kits out there that do it and it makes more power than the turbo and zero weight gain

It's not limited to the same power as an NA sleds at sea level like the Doo turbo. I ride Doo, but I have to admit they're overly conservative with their engines. Poo seems willing to let the turbo actually do some work adding power rather than just compensating for power loss at elevation like Doo did.

@@riderfast3444 They said 10% more at sea level and 50% more at 10,000 feet.... So it’s 9lbs of boost will be felt everywhere unlike skidoo’s which keeps HP at sea level numbers as altitude increases.... A bit of a different system!

I will have to ride one my sled is a 2021 850 with mtteck turbo and I rode the stock turbo doo two weeks ago and for the life of me I can’t see why ppl spend the money on it. I was planning on switching to Polaris this year because they don't have a turbo or a short tunnel. I don't really like overheating and I can't get over 5500', so the "expert package" is just a stupid waste of money for me. But now Polaris just copied all the worst skidoo ideas. Oh well. The Pro 650 155 2.75" looks pretty good. I have been asking for the return of the 700 class and this is as close as it's going to get. The 650 runs on regular unleaded which means it should be easy to crank up the power with mods on pump gas. Unless Cat comes out with something amazing that's probably what I'll get, if anything.
All your vids show a 2019 SP you dont have an Expert. Keep talking behind your keyboard bud. Have 4000miles on my short tunnel rode it last year every month but August🤣 didnt overheat once 🤡🤡

They are adding a turbo to an engine that already has the highest failure rate of any 850... how do you think that’s gonna work?
@@dannyneudorf5082 I have owned three skidoos one 800, and 2 850’s, the 800 lasted about 2000 miles before blowing up, the G4’s lasted around 3500 ish each. I also have a Polaris 850 (2019) that has lasted me 6000 miles and counting. The skidoo 800, and Polaris 850 have been my off trail sleds, but both of the skidoo 850’s that I use for trail riding have blown up on me, as has the skidoo 800. I have owned Polaris all my life because I know they build quality machines :)

Meh. The Polaris 2022 lineup reveal was an underwhelming, “look me too”, nothing burger. WTF does Starfire mean? Why is there a 163” and 165”? Slash boost bleh. Chris Wolf is the least convincing, least charismatic recreational product manufacturing spokesman in the industry. I’m glad I’m not a PII investor. I’d be selling.

Even the stage 2 slp twin pipes made more power at a lighter weight than the turbo

Twin pipes are not making 185HP at 10k'... Vohk already said a reflash will get another 30-40hp out of this sled. That puts it at 220hp.

on the Polaris announcement, they said that is a 10 percent boost at sea level, and over 50 percent more power than without the boost at 10,000ft.
