I've been looking for a while for an old old HG video. Title was something like "walking the dog". It was a short vid, somewhere in Australia (I think) on the beach between beach houses, very blustery day, short dune/sea breeze hops, dog barking and chasing along after the glider. Set to music Angus and Julia Stone "Bella" I just love the vibes of this video. would love to find it again....
Found a hang glider for $750! As soon as I mechanically fit and weld an aluminum frame for my ebike, going to fuse the two together and add floats! And fly to Australia for the babes! Leaving no stone unturned until I find Ms. Right! A motorcycle with wings…Going to call it The Raven!
Rob, this is just getting better all the time. I love how it helped at Daydream plaza, I flew there once and it can be a real scratch, the assist looks like it would make it so much fun to fly. I would love to see if you guys could beat the south bound record at Bunbury, I reckon you guys would be able to jump the gap at stratham and head on to the Capel river if it had a bit of north in it.
So going electric increases the window of flight, making marginal conditions more manageable (for the most part, or are there some aspects of flight negatively impacted by the addition of weight, control systems & performance...and pilot skill?). I'd guess within the normal range of operation there are now maneuvers previously not routinely possible. that can be practiced with a greater degree of safety, allowing efficiency in skill development that may also transition back to flight without motors.
8:58 I had a flight like that one. I couldn't get back to the ground fast enough, even though there was a good chance I'd end up landing in a large patch of blackberries. With luck I missed them all.
Fantastic unit, I've now been roped into building one for a friend. On the throttle, you are using a potentiometer on the index finger right? I was wondering whether you ever use part throttle or whether a simple on/off control would be sufficient given the low power?
Some nice rigs and sites👍 I always wondered about doing a setup like this. I did envisioned a custom motor inside the keel or rejigging a keel to fit a motor. But having the thrust line off the keel seems ideal. However, as budget inventors we work outside of ideal and off the self. I currently fly a small delta trike and look to do a light weight electric setup,,,someday. Keep up the good work and safe landings.
Thanks Patrick! We think we have found the perfect spot for a motor on a low performance glider. We think that the thrust line is in the same position as the centre of drag. Who would have thought.... :)
Hey Patrick, not to butt in but I see ya all over aviation vids. I'm currently doing PPG but have acquired n older lite trike. If you are in the US I would love to pick your brain!?
@@patrickmckowen2999 I see, well appreciate the reply anyway...it's an older Bill Bennett trike but always hangered n barely flew, still like new. Do you by chance know anything about the hang "block" type setup in those?
1:44 Frozen - no corrections what so ever. I've seen that over and over again. You need to let students run the glider on flat ground in low winds to get the feel for it and build some instinct.
Of course, we pilots pilot should should use this new technology with discretion in populated areas to avoid annoying the residents. But for exploring remote sites, I see this as a welcome development. Much lighter and more energy efficient than the old ultralight engines. And less stinky!
True but then you can fly with no wind at all when you are jumping off a cliff :) The wind at Yallingup that day was 7Kn. It was fun to be flying when all the para-gliders were grounded. I even found one of their guys for them. He had landed in tall bush and was having a hard time finding his way out.
So if the guy ruins flying for the others because he wants that silly motor will he realize how silly it is? That thing would be annoying the people in the area no doubt. What the heck is he doing?
Awesome, fantastic scenery and a great spot to do quick launches. You guys are living the dream.
dude, those landings on the fence were crazy rad. I could never, would never have the balls to do that.
Fantastic flying boys on great sites 👍
WHOAW absolument superbe vidéo J'ADOOOOORE ❤👌🛩

Beautiful footage.
Many thanks!

Thats awesome I really want to do that 🤙😊

I think you just about covered it :) No noticeable impact on normal flight

So nice! What motor are you using? Is it a 63100 on 12s battery?
That is it,most safe flying vehicle
great to see, where is this beach can I ask, cheers from Ohio
That video was all over the country but the spectacular beach I think you mean with the rounded hills is near Tunkalilla South Australia.

Yes just a little pot. We enjoy having throttle control. It allows us to us the motor for hours just ticking over when its needed
Where can I read more about this motor/kit? I flew an Explorer many years. Thank you.

@@flyingtime5501 Hi - I am not in US, in Ontario Canada.

Super nice I would love to learn how to fly on a hangglider
what kind of electric motor did you use? brand? thanks

Does anyone know where I could buy the prop system to go with my glider? THANKS!!
I'm a uk pilot and would love to have a small e motor like yours. Are you going to market it or would share the design?
Hi Ian, we are not currently manufacturing but the basic specifications can be found in the description of "why do girls prefer Hang glider pilots"
Hy parker do you have hang glider in uk
Muy bueeno! Muy buenoo!
It's look so fuuuuun tastic
The FUN is the one :)
Why not the motor on the nose of the wing?
Stall under power is deadly
COME È POSSIBILE COMPRARLO?
Hmm. High thrust line?
Actually no... Please read the explanation of thrust Vs Drag on a low performance hang glider in the other threads
@@robertberndes7878 where are these other threads?
Those winds were "flyable", but not soarable.
