The fact David Yost came to the set, not mad, but to met the new rangers and make them feel welcome in a tense time really shows how good a person he is.
Fun fact: Jason David Frank wasn't originally supposed to return as the White Ranger. After he had left Power Rangers early in S2, he was cast as the lead in a different Saban series called Cybertron (you can even find footage of the pilot on YT). However, due to his popularity in Power Rangers, he was eventually convinced to come back. Cybertron later became VR Troopers with Brad Hawkins (who was originally supposed to be brought in as the White Ranger) taking over as the lead actor. Hawkins also later voiced Trey of Triforia, the original Gold Ranger in Power Rangers Zeo.
I think that story line sending Jason, Zack, and Trini to a peace conference was a lame excuse as to why the three actors left the show. How long did the conference last, when will they be back in Angel Grove?
I think this goes without saying but to those new PR fans who are watching S2 either through Netflix or PR’s official YT episode uploads who are upset with the cast changes, do NOT blame the replacement actors, instead blame the studio who did not want to compromise keeping the OG actors happy. I KNOW it’s been like 20 to 30 years but I still see obnoxious people harassing people like Karen Ashley or Steve Cardinas over replacing actors during a crappy situation they couldn’t control. Instead of doing that, please remember that they are still actors, regardless if they replaced your favorite Power Ranger or not. And besides, the new actors (like Karen and Steve) were eventually screwed over too. Whether you like them as PR characters or not please show the actors, you know real life human beings respect and decency. It’ll make us all better as people.
@@russoisageniusbro4452 I mean people can still miss the old performers, I certainly did when I was a kid. The White Ranger upgrade from Green was such a huge moment for the show and an absolute stroke of genius! Same with Jason coming back as the Gold ZEO Ranger!
Agreed. In context it explained why the white ranger tended to be way more excitable in Sentai footage than how Tommy was portrayed: Tommy was back in his element after losing his powers twice
Lord Z was always an amazing design. He looked like he should be a Fallen Ranger, given his mask and that he has a Zord. I always thought that the Power Rangers were like the Angels and that Z was the Fallen Angel.

I do wish that they had been able to keep the original team together, long enough for them all to do the first movie together. That first movie was close to having the original team intact, and it ALMOST had quite a stronger Director in Steve Wang. It could have led to the finished film being a solid 20-30% better than it was...and who knows, that might have led to it being more successful in theaters, and launching an official "Power Rangers movie series" parallel to the TV series
I had the great pleasure to meet Karan Ashley at a signing once. She actually took a couple of minutes to talk with me. Just about the sweetest and loveliest person you could ever meet.
Another thing, Steve doesn't train in Karate. He trains in Taekwondo, him and Austin St. John were the only other rangers that practiced that style but Steve was a champion and teacher at the time. ASJ, Thuy and Walter didn't quit the show. They were fired and replaced...
Aisha was wasted potential: her actress wasn't a martial artist, but a dancer. If they gave her a story arc in which she learned how to utilize her individual skills to contribute to the team, like with dance, then she would have been more interesting. It'll also be a great way to mirror Kimberly's progression of her fighting style- she learned how to use her gymnastics to fight because she wasn't a martial artist. That would have really better justified the two of them being best friends, with Kimberly in the role of a mentor
But if I remember correctly, neither Billy, Kimberly or Zack were martial artists either, Zack was a dancer, Kimberly was a gymnastic and Billy was a geek.
@@j04370859 I remember the pilot episode where Billy was a student in one of Jason's Karate classes. Zack was somewhat of a fighter as he had "Hip Hop Hido" or whatever that was called where he mix dance moves with martial arts.
My main point was that they should've given Aisha something to work with other than being Kimberly's new best friend. It looks like she was given that role because Trini was. Kimberly being a mentor makes sense, because she knew how it was like to learn over time how to use her individual gifts to add to the team.

It wasn’t just that. The actors themselves weren’t covered for any damages or injuries sustained on stage and they were liable to not get paid for rehearsals or working overtime. imo the thunderzords were one of their best zords and even design and animal choice wise .. as for the ranger swap was cool to see new rangers,. who knew down the line , you would be able to be part of their everyday life now by following them on SC
Eagle-eyed viewers would notice that they were using body doubles and voice dubs much sooner. I first noticed it in the episode where they went to Venus Island. Halfway through the episode they stopped dubbing Jason and Zach's voices, and a lot of the unmorphed sequences used archive footage. It's hilarious, because you can tell Jason and Zach were supposed to be talking, but nothing was coming out 😂
Yep, that used to annoy me as a youngster. Season 2 of Power Rangers was so bitter sweet by the time the White Ranger arrived. I recall being heavily invested in the show during that time because they were fleshing out the characters a bit, I wanted to see Trini and that new guy she was seeing Richie hit off. Tragically both actors passed away.
@@vh9network absolutely agree. Aside from Tommy, Billy was the only one who had a character motivation, and not simply informed attributes. Trini was definitely growing more into her own person, and was less defined by her relationships with the others. She was my second favorite behind Billy
U could really tell when trini would say her lines in some episodes and it wouldn’t sound like Thuy Trang speaking for me she was the most noticeable cause when Austin would dub his lines in suit it was like he had a slight yell going but they got a voice double that was close enough it wasn’t noticeable in most episodes
Jason David Frank is the face of the Power Rangers franchise and his death is a huge loss to all who have supported the Power Rangers franchise since the very beginning
Wish they used all the DaiRanger Suits. Ah man, when Jason, Trini, and Zack left my commitment to the show declined. It really threw me for a loop. As a kid watching the show, I knew something was off because a lot of the episodes leading up to their departure, we rarely saw them and Jason’s voice didn’t sound like Jason in some of the suited fight scenes. I did grow to like the new batch a bit over time and with the release of the movie, but when Kim left, I signed out. I remember checking back in when Jason returned for a bit, but got glued back when they replaced the entire cast with a new cast with TJ, Cassie, Ashley, and Carlos, then adding Andros in Space. This cast saved power rangers for me and their Space Season.
Brad Hawkins was the original choice to be White Ranger Daniel Southworth (who played Eric the Quantum Ranger) auditioned for Adam. He was the stunt actor for Adam on the Power Rangers World Tour Live On Stage
I actually went to the live show back in the day it was so cool but they did have casts for the show an east coast cast and a west coast cast it was the same show but different stunt people as the rangers I saw the east coast cast being that I live on the east coast all my life it was still a fun show to see
Of all three seasons of this show, Season 2 was my most involved mostly for how many changes were made and how late the Mutiny episode was originally broadcast. After the theatrical movie, my interest in Power Rangers had sort of waned at that point.
He worked better as black. Had he gotten Red, fans wouldn’t have accepted him as easily. I wouldn’t have wanted him to have to deal with the backlash of filling Jason’s shoes. Adam became my favorite Ranger, and having him as Black Ninjetti and Zeo Green were good calls.
I am actually not sure I watched S1 in real time, so this was most likely my jumping-on point for Power Rangers, at the age of 10 or 11 - and it got me hooked instantly. Tommy Oliver was my HERO. Like, I wanted to be him way more than I wanted to be Goku. He was the undisputed leader of my action figures - even Goku and Batman listened to him. Only Spidey ever touched him in my heart, and then only because Peter Parker is basically me with superpowers. Tommy was just coolness personified - the strongest Ranger, a natural leader, with hands-down the COOLEST zord. Stupid Jason and Rocky could stuff it as far as I was concerned. Wild that the original White Ranger was a little kid - I wonder if fans complained like they did with Justin in Turbo... Also, so much trickery we were none the wiser to in creating these copy-paste episodes...it was a different time, and as clever as we were, we were still way more innocent than modern kids. Also, that guy who was in front of Karan Ashley in line and taught her about the Rangers must still be telling that story to his kids/grandkids to this day...
Funny at age 4 lord zed did not scare me... what scared me was and episode from power rangers in space when they were being hunted by parasites that latched on the face and mutated them I was horrified, anyone else remember that episode
hey man, really like the videos but could you make the intro music quieter? it's way louder than the talking and would be a minor change to make the videos better. thank you!
No, they quit as Saban wasn't willing to pay the union rate... They were doing lots of hours and the company was making a fortune, but they weren't seeing returns for it.
When they replaced the original people I stopped watching. Turned it back on one day and they were in the old West with spurs and tassles on the Power Ranger costume. I noped out of that so hard lol. I got more into the Japanese ones later.
I remember. The ones from the Old West were supposed to be their 'ancestors' and the 'first ever' Power Rangers, I rolled my eyes so hard at that silly story. 🙄😅
I recall old interviews of David Yost where he claimed he experienced homophobia from Jason David Frank while on set. He apologized for his behavior obviously but this was early 90’s when it was still taboo to be openly gay & accepted.
MMPR is the only PR I like because it's a horror movie. Everything that came after was a total kids cartoon. That isn't a bad thing, but I'd rather more horror. I don't mean it's scary. Not at all. It's horror like how old Godzilla movies were horror. The outdated look of the Zords alone gives them a crude, dirty quality. Not as polished as later shows. The monsters. Witch on the moon. Skinless guy. Evil green Ranger. It is horror. Just not scary in the slightest. If you were to say new PR is like Star Wars, then MMPR is like Alien.
I also liked zany Zedd as the seasons went on over scary Zedd that we were first introduced to. Zedd was one heck of a dancer. Lol. Zany Zedd was better. I liked it when Zedd married Rita.
Great video Man!!!! It was very interesting. For me, Season 2 is the weakest of the 3 seasons of MMPR but with that said, I still love it just as I do the rest of MMPR. In fact it has become enhanced for me thank to the Boom! Studios Comics adaption of the season!!!
@Nobody Special515 I think it mostly comes down to the ranger switch making the season as a whole a little jarring, as well as me preferring Seasons 1 and 3, but like I said, I still love Season 2. It's still great IMO. Honestly, IMO a weak MMPR Season is like a weak Toy Story Movie.
The three replacements were so bland and it felt so unnatural to shoehorn them in the show midway. I recently binge watched season 2 and the replacements are far more cringe than what I remembered. Rocky and Adam were unbelievably boring and had absolutely NO individuality. They were just generic martial artists. Rocky had none of Jason's intensity and leadership skills and was pretty much there to wear a suit while Adam was a gender swapped Trini who was scared to talk to girls and didn't have any character development beyond that. Aisha had the most flavor of the three but they didn't go deep enough to flesh out her personality and she wound up becoming little more than a chocolate covered Kimberly. It's a shame that Saban didn't pay the actors right and subjected them to such horrid working conditions because it would've been a lot better for the show's direction to have the original six finish out season 2 before they were replaced. Some might argue that Trini and Zack were stereotypical but I heavily disagree because they made you feel invested in their characters and that's why the show went downhill once they left.
MMPR, the great What If! What if Levy and Saban were not penny pinching and upped the salaries, keeping the Original Six intact? What if the Tigerzord could be tinted green and Tommy kept the green suit? What if one and not the other? The possibilities...
I remember thinking White Ranger was so cool back in the day but Green Ranger is really the better design and cooler idea. It's sad it was so short lived.
If Lord Zed was Rita's boss, why the heck did Lord Zed wait for over 10,000 years for Rita to finish her job before taking over her job to fight against the Power Rangers?
I love the power rangers with Tommy and Kim they where both fun and great to see and now miss Tommy rip and Kim miss him to after seeing her about him seeing her get so broken and crying made me feel so sad so yeah but don't know how long power rangers will last in the west we have only seen one movie of the new power rangers but not much lately or if where going to see anymore 🤔PS sad if comes to the end in the west I grow up with the power rangers and do skull and friend that work with him they both funny as hell miss them to and all bad guys and bad lady's 🤔 will never be the same yes I am dragon ball z fan to best bad guy was cell don't get me wrong but there where some others there where good but cell was my best to love seeing
Jason should have given Billy his coin and he became the red ranger. Kimberly would still be second in command as pink but Billy earned the right to be the new red ranger and Rocky could be blue....
Am I the only one who noticed how freakishly long Jason David Frank's right arm is in the pic at 12:24? It looks like the photo was edited but I can't imagine why they would do that.
lol no it's the perspective his hand is next to Steve Cardenas then the one by JYB Is Steve's just looks like JDF has a stretchy arm. Maybe I'm blind. 😂
Neither was the thunder zords they both came from gosei sentai Dairanger the next season they kept the kyōryū sentai zyuranger suit more for continuity reasons thinking kids couldn’t handle a suit change but a way around this could’ve been the Dairanger suits were a power up mode them like the metallic armor was that charged the yellow ranger to gold while activated and like they did in super mega force where the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger suit were a power upgrade
S2 was a major disappointment. It became so serious and the first dozen episodes are just depressing. It lost its campy elements and quickly stopped being a cultural phenomenon.
The first dozen episodes were the best, Jason’s brilliant leadership, Tommy kicking ass as he loses his green ranger powers. The team were very close friends. Changing the cast shortly after white light ruined the show
The fact David Yost came to the set, not mad, but to met the new rangers and make them feel welcome in a tense time really shows how good a person he is.

who knew down the line , you would be able to be part of their everyday life now by following them on SC
as a kid, i wasnt happy to see jason leave but mannnnnnnnn adam is EASILY the third greatest ranger of all time!
#1 tommy, #2 jason, #3 adam
@@kevin10001 in the Venus episode she says "there has to be another way." That same exact clip was used in the Power Transfer episode. That was nuts
I get that. A whole new cast was easier to accept than the constant replacements. A new start.
Karan back then: im here for an audition.
Dude in line: this is for power rangers.
Karan back then: oh cool.......whats....um...power rangers?
🤣🤣🤣
So undeserved
@jae3276 who or what is undeserved? Let's use full sentences. :)
@@joey.renaud Karan getting the role for yellow ranger. Lol. U can tell she was lost in the show too
@@jae3276 how?
Brad Hawkins was the original choice to be White Ranger
Daniel Southworth (who played Eric the Quantum Ranger) auditioned for Adam. He was the stunt actor for Adam on the Power Rangers World Tour Live On Stage
I actually went to the live show back in the day it was so cool but they did have casts for the show an east coast cast and a west coast cast it was the same show but different stunt people as the rangers I saw the east coast cast being that I live on the east coast all my life it was still a fun show to see
@@kevin10001 For real?? That's awesome ⚡
@@kevin10001 you talking about the world tour live on stage, right?
Thank you for posting the video.
I once met Johnny Yong Bosch, he liked my custom Power Ranger Ichigo costume
Can't wait for you to do a video on season 3!
Of all three seasons of this show, Season 2 was my most involved mostly for how many changes were made and how late the Mutiny episode was originally broadcast. After the theatrical movie, my interest in Power Rangers had sort of waned at that point.
when Zack , Jason and Trini left my heart did two a'int nothing better than the originals
I had no idea the Rita actress was re-casted, I thought she looked different when she returned, but I thought it was just the makeup.
RIP Jason David Frank
Adam should had been red
That would have been interesting
But then we would have never got “I’m a frog”
Rocky and Aisha just sucked honestly. Rocky had bad acting even for a kids show.
Adam was so damn good as a ranger. Legit always came off as a natural. I would have accepted a red adam
I had a crush on Adam as a kid, he was, ans still is, so handsome and charismatic:
Where does Tommy Oliver morpher go when he transforms into the white ranger? Everybody else wears their morphers on their belt.
Good observation! Being a lifelong fan, I never noticed that! 😂
In his back pocket, maybe.
Merry Christmas man!
Where can you buy this book in Canada, 6th Ranger?
Funny at age 4 lord zed did not scare me... what scared me was and episode from power rangers in space when they were being hunted by parasites that latched on the face and mutated them I was horrified, anyone else remember that episode
hey man, really like the videos but could you make the intro music quieter? it's way louder than the talking and would be a minor change to make the videos better. thank you!
great vid!!!!!
I once had an idea for a comic to have a serpentera (is that right?) ranger. Darker green and they would be related to Tommy
RIP JASON DAVID FRANK!
I hated how parents complained about Lord Zedd being too scary and he had to be watered down.
That's almost like the care home experience that I went through in 2021W/The Director# (W/mom)
1/2 of the Ranger Team was FIRED!
No, they quit as Saban wasn't willing to pay the union rate... They were doing lots of hours and the company was making a fortune, but they weren't seeing returns for it.
They weren't fired, they walked out.
Hey can you make a video on Squatt and Baboo I've been wondering whatever became of those two
Does anyone know the name of the comic book illustrator who designed Lord Zedd?
I recall old interviews of David Yost where he claimed he experienced homophobia from Jason David Frank while on set. He apologized for his behavior obviously but this was early 90’s when it was still taboo to be openly gay & accepted.
The season had the greatest ranger ever, Rocky
MMPR is the only PR I like because it's a horror movie. Everything that came after was a total kids cartoon. That isn't a bad thing, but I'd rather more horror. I don't mean it's scary. Not at all. It's horror like how old Godzilla movies were horror. The outdated look of the Zords alone gives them a crude, dirty quality. Not as polished as later shows. The monsters. Witch on the moon. Skinless guy. Evil green Ranger. It is horror. Just not scary in the slightest. If you were to say new PR is like Star Wars, then MMPR is like Alien.
Where would i even get that book nowadays? Most copies i see online are going for insane prices.
You answered your own question
That ranger book looks awesome but I'm not throwing down 200 plus dollars for it
I also liked zany Zedd as the seasons went on over scary Zedd that we were first introduced to. Zedd was one heck of a dancer. Lol. Zany Zedd was better. I liked it when Zedd married Rita.
Who are the parents saying zed was too scary? They didn’t exist. Tv networks were just worried about the possibility i’m sure
Any idea who the artist behind Zedd was?
You mean it wasn’t HR Giger?
Merry Christmas 🎄
I like your BTS videos so much. I would love to see if you do Ninja Storm & Jungle Fury BTS videos since those both are my favorite seasons.
One of the Power rangers adam park has many rangers too Black and Green Zeo ranger🐍🦎.
Merry Christmas 6th ranger a good youTuber with Power rangers💪🎄.
Hey so u think u can do season 3 ?
Awesome job!!!!
Crazy how Johnny voices broly now in dbz
LEGENDARY
Diaranger was season 17 not 7 a simple google search would have told you that
MMPR, the great What If!
Also best theme song
If Lord Zed was Rita's boss, why the heck did Lord Zed wait for over 10,000 years for Rita to finish her job before taking over her job to fight against the Power Rangers?
Union rules.
Can you do a video about titanus?
Lord Zedd is in 2 episode s of super Sentai
Been trying to find the guide for months now but it’s out of print and massively expensive now
Please do videos on spd A-squad & Evox/Venjix
Jason should have given Billy his coin and he became the red ranger. Kimberly would still be second in command as pink but Billy earned the right to be the new red ranger and Rocky could be blue....
Am I the only one who noticed how freakishly long Jason David Frank's right arm is in the pic at 12:24? It looks like the photo was edited but I can't imagine why they would do that.
lol no it's the perspective his hand is next to Steve Cardenas then the one by JYB Is Steve's just looks like JDF has a stretchy arm.
Maybe I'm blind. 😂
@@silverbolt9439 I probably didn't word that well. It's more like his right shoulder appears twice. I guess that could just be his sleeve.
The “green no more” was an intended pun… let’s not be coy here
it wasn't the 7th Super Sentai series it was the 16th
Zyuranger was the 16th so yes that's correct
To this day I really didn't like the last seasons of MMPR. They should've just adopted Dairanger instead but I get it financially lol
Lets not forget that the white ranger was originally called the tiger ranger and wasn't part of the show that had the original MMPR costumes.
Changing the cast shortly after white light ruined the show
It feels ileagal I'm this early
Good discussion
power transfer was the last episode i ever watched
Saba can blend all the putties Like the 🌪️Wind🌀(WHIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!)
I wondered why Lord Zed became soft. I liked him better darker.
Because parents complained he was too scary for kids.
By “they decided to leave” did u mean “got fired by saban” lol
They literally left because Saban wouldn't pay them a proper wage.
But nice stretch lol
You tried it Becky
