Don't worry, this is Lunatic mode. Normal and Easy gameplay is a lot more manageable, while still being somewhat intense and looking fairly impressive. You have a tiny hitbox and rather precise controls, in Easy mode the gaps between the bullets are often huge, and the high bullet speed seen here is mostly Lunatic-specific too. You can do it.
Just beat PCB on normal and Youmu took half of my remaining lives T^T but that last spellcard is easy, especially if you try to get past the wave during the slow motion
Maybe it's a Kanako "Mountain of Faith" type issue where you end up getting screwed over because the bullets travel and expire slower than they're created, so you end up with more bullets on screen at once than on higher difficulties.
"This is a run against Youmu Konpaku from Perfect Cherry Blossom Stage 5. It is played on lunatic mode and done without dying or bombing and without breaking any borders. In other words, a perfect run." 2 Things. 1. Perfect run wwwwwwwww 2. Youmu chose to not kill you, always keep it in mind.
My Youmu is broke. Her sword strikes for some reason are aimed super close to her, so the red and blue arrows fan out into waves of death. I cri every time.
whaaaaaaaaat? You didn't misdirect the first nonspell! And then you got a border during the non and didn't go high enough to graze milk it? And you call this run perfect! >:(
@OmegaWeaponX25 Managed to beat EOSD yesterday, but not with 1cc though, getting close to it. It's amazing how much better one can get after a day of playing
I swear there are points in this where it looks like you are walking under right under some of the blasts, yet you are not getting hit. Are the hit boxes on the blasts actually smaller then the visuals for them? Otherwise, I have no idea how some of the dodges are possible, because you are actually being overlapped. Is there some mechanic I don't know about that protects you?
***** This battle contains at least two bullet types that have considerably smaller hitboxes than their sprites. The largest, bubble-bullets as we call them, are harmless in a good portion of their outer periphery while the same applies to some extent to the mediumsized round bullets. In general in games like these bullets are a little smaller than they appear which is a design choice to give players a little leeway and avoid having things be annoyingly surprise. They are still large enough that you usually don't get to get away with just random movement.
Okay. I was starting to wonder if is was something like that. I've played other games like this where the hit boxes on the bullets were pretty accurate to the bullet size, so even getting grazed was to lose your ship. I noticed it seems the character also has a very low profile, and a pretty small hit box of her own, allowing her to slip through spaces that a lot of other games like this would lead to certain destruction. Even more impressive for people clearing this. Not only do you have to have a quick eye for the openings, but also have a good idea of where the actual hit boxes are.
+Genisay Yeah, it's also notable that the different characters have different types of hitboxes. Starting from this game specifically, Reimu (the red and white player character in question) actually has a specifically smaller hitbox than the other characters. The hitboxes are all, regardless, smaller than the actual sprite. You can actually see the hitbox specifically (red circle that sometimes appears on reimu) when she goes into a grazing mode: where her shots will then fire more concertedly as she moves slower.
Huh. Interesting. For having the characters be human shaped in a top down set up, they did some interesting things to get around the necessity of having longer, larger looking visuals, but still keeping things really tight. Still, learning where exactly that 'direct body hit' line starts and ends must take some getting used to, as most games just match the hit box to the majority of the 'plane's' inner shape, though often you can still get buy if it only makes contact with your outermost sets of pixels. Considering how much focus you are going to be paying to where the bullets have holes, you would need to be really familiar with just how close you can get to one with out getting actually tagged. Watching the videos now with new info on them, I'd say her hit box is probably focused on her head.
Its more about around the waist. You'll notice the little circle that appears on the character sometimes? That's the hitbox and it appears whenever you hold shift which also slows down your movement for precision dodges.

Thx for the information
Lmao i cant even do this in easy
I dunno man, normal mode is still pretty insane
I like how he speeds the dialogue so fast that it lasts like half a second at the end
Me having a nearly perfect run in th7

Somehow, i almost effortlessly capture her final attack on lunatic, but fail most of the time on normal. I wonder why.

Youmu Konpaku, the only swordswoman who can kickass and kill without hitting her target, with the sword I mean.
Youmu's really really hard as Sakuya, but as Reimu she's hectic, doable and very, very fun.

Ah shit, the P word. Thanks for pointing that out. The description has been edited to reflect its true nature.
How do you break a border?
Either you hit a bullet or you press x while your border is active.
My mind melted trying to understnad lunatic mode lol
My my, now that was a perfect run, outstanding! :D
Strangely i always found youmu's last spell like the easiest
Probably is. I think I'd rank the difficulty as 1st>2nd>4th>3rd from hardest to easiest
If the slow mo gimmick wasn't present, this would be hard. Really hard
Omg I love Touhou 😍😍😍
You are god man.
Fact: Konpaku is one of the fastest danmaku boss
I like the background

+Minogame1 fixed.
Mino fixed ur damn grammer
My brain broke reading this.
As long as you don’t get hit and you don’t use a bomb, than I consider it perfect.
"just dodge" moment
Every time your on a boss fight, pause the game and dodge rain.
as a Touhou noob, i find her non-spells to honestly be the hardest part of this fight 😅
dunno why, but youmu gives me more trouble then any other boss in PCB
Good job! I mostly die on Hard, her first card is a pain -.-
If Youmu was a boss in Persona, she'd be level 91 with Asura as her Persona....
Your video's great in quality too, good job! =P

what did he mean by this
Damn, I will never beat a touhou game.
What about now?

You're superhuman!!
the "hardest" spell card is the easiest for me and the "easiest" is the hardest for me, go figure
I call hax. You seemed to go right through bullets. D:
Yeah, small hitboxes will sometimes let you do that.
youmu alway ruin my PBC 1cc, i hate her so much

Uhm... I think Shou and Yumeko would be harder, I haven't met either of them, but Sakuya? '-' I thought she was the easiest stage 5 boss.
Lol, I'm just exaggerating about Sakuya a bit.
were you using persuasion needle?
How the f*ck do you dodge that in 0:54?? D:
✨hitbox majic~~~✨
Youmu IS the hardest stage 5 boss right? All her attacks are too ridiculous.
