Thanks for the excellent video, I lived in Fernbridge from 1954 until 1962, when I was a child Fernbridge was our Mr. Rogers neighborhood, Fernbridge was a friendly little town to live in. During the 1964 flood, our home in another part of Humboldt County was flooded out and my family and I stayed in the Fernbridge Inn from December 21 until February. I can remember when Highway 101 was being built and before they opened it up to traffic I used to ride my tricycle on the freshly laid asphalt. So many memories and happy times.

Thanks for the tour. It'll be a fine day when the dams are out of the Eel and Caltrans finally builds a car bridge and converts Fernbridge to a bike and pedestrian bridge.

Dock? Just me again. At the 3:11 mark, is the railway pointing toward Loleta, which is only a short 3 miles away? If you followed that track from this standing point, is it a straight shot through to Loleta? Does that wind around the river? Any chance you could do a video walking from here to Loleta on the train track and show us where it takes you? Your dog's old, Dock; I think he's got that SARDS impairment? Oh, and Dock? Any chance you could keep us regularly updated on the cheese factory in Loleta? It's hurting me seeing it demolished. There's no way they can allow it to remain as it's too much of a hazard. I don't think it can be salvaged.

The tracks to run to Loleta but I don't know what the right-of-way status is, county or state, or whether it's private property. It does run along the west side of Eel River Dr. though. I haven't walked it but I'd really like to visit the Loleta RR tunnel. Yeah, Brody is 13, his hips are going unfortunately. I do plan on going back to check the bld in Loleta but it's a pile now.... thank you for watching... Dock

@@HumboldtAxe Dock? The Ferndale Bridge is too narrow for pedestrians to cross, so how deep is the water below it? What are the odds of taking off your shoes and footing it across? I "may" be coming over soon on a holiday and need local info like this. I hear the locals can be a bit rough in Loleta. Any wild life dangers if you do foot it around the railway tracks and beyond?

@@HumboldtAxe Any cheap places to stay near Loleta? And I forgot to ask about the train track from Fernbrige to Loleta if you follow it. So it winds around the river not across it? You'd think down the track somewhere the train would cross a bridge.

@@donkeystench1236 Even with the Eel low this time of year it's still deep and swift, I wouldn't try it. The folks I've met in Loleta were nice to me. We do have bears and mountain lions so you never know I guess. Not sure what's been seen down there... Dock
