Awesome to have you allong the journey Gervers. I think Georges fast trip made for great tention in the ep. very entertaining, and yes I agree. there are loads of amazing choices under 1k. We will explore more in the fure. Cheers bro
This was a fun episode, but I felt that GB could have tried harder. Nothing wrong with G-Shock, but there are a dozen Seikos I would have opted for above the Frogman. Adrian made some great choices, and had that 'seaweed' Seamaster not have been available, he would have won it for me. But that £5k price bracket is the Goldilocks range and probably had the best selection of readily available watches for the general public.
martin boulden you are most welcome and we aim to okeep lifting. The more we get support from people such as you the more we get encouraged to push harder. Thanks for the tyre pump man!!!
This is probably the best episode of About Effing Time. I wish you did this challenge again in Geneva. Yes Andrew won here, that green Omega Seamaster no words! Adrian and George gave compelling alternatives. Please do this again with chronographs.
I think Squale is a decent Italian owned watch company. They have great history and they crossed path with many important brands like Heuer, Doxa and blancpain. They changed direction now and stopped doing homages and they have been focusing a lot more on their heritage models. I thinks they offer great value for money products. My 1521 wear fantastically to be a 50atmos diver and imo looks stunning.
Really looking forward to the Therapy session. I think it could be as good as the actual episode. So much to unpack here. Seiko would have been the choice for under a £1000 tho.

Amazing episode, gents. It sometimes feels like watch-related content are more or less the same nowadays, but you’ve introduced something so fresh by incorporating the retail purchase experience to your top caliber podcast. Bravo!
I went to the Omega store today on Oxford Street and bought that green Seamaster after watching this video… unbelievable in really life video does not do it justice!
Great episode with fantastic examples. It wouldn’t have bothered me if you had chosen a “waitlist” example for your number two. Omega is the winning choice but I’ll go with the green Seamaster from a wearability perspective, plus that dial is gorgeous. Not sure I could’ve left the store without that watch on my wrist.
Such a cool format. I love the way this challenge altered the nature of your conversation. I didn't expect that subtlety. Sort of on topic. I was enjoying my tranquil bubble of Tag hate but you lot keep talking them up. Since you engineered my curiosity I tried on a night diver earlier this week... and now I NEED it. 51:45 ……I think Andrew nailed this with the diver 300!!! Beautiful in green…the rubber strap amazing on this watch.I thought Tudor would have been an option the pelagos FXD at just over £3000 a fantastic dive watch but is it obtainable 🤔maybe not!!
I too have asked that same question in reference to Italian brands. Other brands that exist some have mentioned, Squale, Unimatic also Uboat. There is also brands such as Perseo and Mondia that have little bit of history and potential a good back catalogue, but a lot of there new stuff is nothing more then homage watches. Another might be Eberhard not sure think they might be Swiss/Italian.

Awesome episode. Great choice Andrew - from a very happy owner of an Omega “Seaweed”. Has to be seen irl to do it justice, as the green is just perfect 👍 - I persuaded my AD to sell me the only one they had in stock, and had received for months 😊
Great episode. Under £1,000 - the G Shock Frogman is a great choice; under £5,000 - Tag Aquaracer, Omega SMP or Tudor BB; under £10,000, too many choices!
Great episode guys! It was a really well documented journey. I think Capt Boring found the winner with the Polaris but I can’t believe there is a 7 month waiting period for this at the time of filming! I picked up my JLC green Polaris back in October and pretty much haven’t taken it off since. You guys are right on about the customer service at Omega though, from my experience they really do go above and beyond.
Yeah that JLC is the sleeper winner for me also. Its the watch you get when you are not crying out for attention but the poeple who know....just know. stunning here. Thansk for watching James. More to come

This. Was. Wicked. Brilliant episode. Andrew’s journey was amazing. Adrian clinical and accurate as always, shame about that Polaris that’s the one for me it was amazing. GB, why not have head down to the new seiko boutique on Bond Street? Upstairs they’ve got loads of sub £1k seiko divers, missed opportunity! Really fun thank you
Nice work Gentleman! Episode was fun! I think it was brilliant that you each got categories that challenged you each in different ways! The deep sea was awesome and of course NOT AVAILABLE 😂
@@marcusflack1523 George was so confident! Was good to see him hand the win over Andrew. You did a great job editing the show…..good storyline and fun to watch. Kept us guessing!
Longines hi beat, No date sub and Citizen Promaster or pick any seiko. Might have been nice if George could mention any brand he isn't in biznizz with......The green Omega is a wow piece
6:51 this explanation of the connection is for Adrian: So there's this thing called Mario Kart. It's a video game whereby Mario and several other video game characters from the Nintendo universe race against each other in various karts and race tracks. Tag Heur is an iconic watch brand renowned for deep ties in racing history (this where lines like the carerra or the autavia drew their design inspiration from...think of Tag's tachymeter scales and how popular they became with racers at the time). Jack Heuer even took the name from the Carrera Panamericana road race, a border-to-border race staged in Mexico, from 1950 to 1954. As you can see by now, Tag Heur's brand is synonymous with car racing history just as the game Mario Kart is a racing game by its very nature. Hope youre able to make that connection now 😀
What a great episode. I feel almost as exhausted as you guys running around town to find THE best dive watches... But, In a good way cause that sure seemed like a lot of fun. Best incentive to get some cardio and out of the office time to stretch out.
This was super fun to watch. First off, love seeing London in this way. More of that! Secondly, this was just a gem of an episode. It felt authentic and very well produced. You guys are getting into a rhythm.
I’m becoming a dad for the first time in May. There has been quite a bit of change going on in my life right now and finding this show has been one of the most positive changes! Whether I’m building things for the nursery or organizing I’m pretty much always listening to these guys and catching up on the live streams. Adrian’s story telling, Andrew’s enthusiasm and wit, and George’s eye for design have been so cool to learn from. Plus, I now feel okay continuing to save for an Aquaracer! Cheers!
As a father myself Patrick I can say welcome to the world of fatherhood. Great to hear the show is hitting the spot for you in these times of change. All the very best for you and the family as this new bundle of joy enters this world. And yeah the Aquaracer. WHich model have you got your eyes on?
@@marcusflack1523 thank you, I appreciate it! The watch that got me into watches was the Aquaracer 300 pro in blue. I saw it while shopping for engagement rings and I was blown away by a mechanical machine being able to go down that deep in water and keep working. The Seiko SPB143 was a milestone watch for me to own, and I think the Aquaracer in blue will be the next milestone. The night diver is amazing, and if I could buy two I’d buy that as well. With my current budget I need a watch that can be a bit more boring for the everyday and nicer occasions, hence the blue.
Sorry for not watching live celebrating my birthday but what a great episode throughout absolutely love the JLC definitely need to check it out in green
The fact that George can't think of or find a watch under $1K, other than a g-shock, shows just how out of touch he is with the (real) watch world. Andrew once again proves he's the most well-rounded watch nerd, thank you Andrew! And Adrian, good choices my man! That JLC was a stunner... Excellent episode, can't wait to see more like this!!
In all fairness to George, this challenge isn't to find any good diver under 1k, but to find one that commonly retails in brick and mortar stores in London, which rules out all the lovely interesting microbrand divers (Zelos, Halios, CWard, Yema) that sell online. You're really just stuck with Seiko or a G-shock, which limits the possibility of getting something more interesting/"non-boring".
@@guitarded27 I can think of 9 (non-microbrand) watches off the top of my head under $1000. Pick anything from Swatch's lowest tier.... Mido Ocean Star, Tissot Seastar, Certina DS, Hamilton Navy Scuba, Squale (independent), Glycine (Invicta group), Alpina (Citizen), Bulova (Citizen), Citizen... the list goes on, without even hitting Seiko. And not a single one of those brands were available anywhere they were looking? I don't believe that, at all.
George Bamford can not be out of touch with the "real" watch world, even if he wanted to! He owns a watch company, he's been in the industry for many years, even in this episode his BYOI was Mr.Jones (with prices in the "real" watch world tier that you've mentioned) so I don't agree with you about George at all. He's actually a very cool and down to earth guy. And I agree with you that in this episode Andrew was much better with his choices and overall I think he was the winner.
I think sometimes we must all read between the lines fellas. Georges fast journey only added to the drama of the show. If you missed that one and blame George for not hunting harder its unfortunate. Dont worry we will be looking at loads of Dive watches in this categeory in the future.
OK, this was fun! I'm not a huge divewatch fan and I thought it would be so boring, but it was really fun! It made me think which watches would I choose in those price segments. And it would be difficult for me, with one exception. And that is that Seamaster Diver 300M. Well done Andrew, well done. In general, the Seamaster Diver 300M is a watch I have a kind of weird relationship to. Because I really don't like how it looks in pictures. Any pictures. The press photos, the cool instagram shots, just any... Even the videos don't do it the justice. But in practice? Wow... How it fits on the wrist, how it plays with light, it's just perfect. I really love it and if one day I'm going to buy a luxury divewatch, one of these might just be it. Or the Tudor Pelagos 39 which migh be a bit more suitable for my small wrist. But really, would it trump the wholesomeness of the Omega? I don't think so. But we're not there yet. This category has some very interesting options there. Since I'm really not a huge traditional divewatch fan, I'd look elswhere. The 37mm Nomos Club Sport with the new bracelet has 200 meters of water resistance. That would be great. Or what about the Ming18.01. Well, you really can't get that one, so although that would be my choice, I'd take the Nomos here. The under 1 000 category would be easy for me. Just look at the Christopher Ward catalogue and what hey have there. I bought mine C65 Supercopressor for well under that and that's a divewatch to stay in my collection, I just love it. It's very original design, unique tech, just great. But these don't sell under 1K nowadays and even with the sales that CW runs every now and then it's hard to get them for under that price. So I'd look elsewhere in the catalogue and get a C60 Trident... Would I? Oh no, that's too much of a traditional divewatch for me, even with all the modern twists it has. So back to basics. And I won't "cheat" with their other 150m water resistant watches as the whole C63 Sealander line there. Well, Seiko then. Some of the "Turtle" models would do, as I love that case shape and somehow it works on my slim wrist. The biggest issue would be the 10K challenge. Because, why? Why would I buy a 10K divewatch when I already would struggle with a 5K one... But if I had to choose something? The Panerai dive models are too big for me... The Polaris? Great, but I'd happily buy 10 different Reversos before even considering this. Submariner? Come on, that obvious? Grand Seiko diver's are, again, just too big fo me, although I love that SprinDrive there. Blancpain is over the budget... Well, I gues I'd have to gi with some of the Panerais to satisfy my need for "not such a traditional looking divewatch"... Although that Ploprof idea wasn't bad either :-)
Killing it gentlemen! Best show yet! As for the choices: George- predictable (probably arranged a Bamford edition while there) Adrian- surprising (I was sure you'd bring a GO) Andrew- also predictable (first watch I thought of) ××winner×× If you do another challenge, raise the budgets (maybe double) and do chronographs.
The blue and white PloProf is cheaper than the Ultra Deep - £10,160. If Adrian wanted to stay within budget in the Omega boutique he should have gone for the Planet Ocean Chronograph, which is the same size case as the Ultra Deep (but thinner?) and £7,800. It definitely has presence! George could have had a Zodiac Super Sea Wolf on rubber for his £1k.
You guys nailed this episode. All episodes should be outside the studio, and more lifestyle content like this.
I gotta be honest. The fresh air was most enjoyable. And yes the plan is for more of this type of mayhem for the future.

GB, why not have head down to the new seiko boutique on Bond Street? Upstairs they’ve got loads of sub £1k seiko divers, missed opportunity!
Really fun thank you
Wisam Al-Hakim - it was wicked huh. We loved making it and its all really worth it when we read comments like yours. SUper encouraging.
Just tap it in….
Absolutely gr8 ep guys..bout tocking time! LoL Nice to see outside of the box!
And lemme tell you it was great to get outside the box for us as well.
OMG the pause when you told the boyZ that you got the GREEN Omega SMP. Lol
🤣🤣 partly Marcus’ editing
@@AboutEffingTime OI......it was ALL Marcuses editing.....but legit there was a long pause there. hahahaha
I got my green JLC Polaris Date just before Christmas and it really is a stunning, stunning watch. Photos don't do the burst justice
Adrian is dying
Another Italian brand besides Panerai? Bvlgari! They set so many records with the Octo Finissimo. Great episode gents. 🥃
This is true, but made in Switz, so didn’t think of it!
@@AboutEffingTime true but Panerai has been making its watches in Switzerland since 2020 as well. Actually both manufactured in Neufchâtel. Cheers
@@matthewhelm3035 I think Matthew has a point here fellas.
Really fun episode as you went out into real shops in London! More of this kind of episode
Nice work Gentleman! Episode was fun! I think it was brilliant that you each got categories that challenged you each in different ways! The deep sea was awesome and of course NOT AVAILABLE 😂
And I loved seeing George in action. Was super fun to run alomng with him.
@@marcusflack1523 George was so confident! Was good to see him hand the win over Andrew. You did a great job editing the show…..good storyline and fun to watch. Kept us guessing!
Gents! Wow. Thanks for taking me on that journey- great way to start my Wednesday.
Cheers!
It was our plesure BURGO
Longines hi beat, No date sub and Citizen Promaster or pick any seiko. Might have been nice if George could mention any brand he isn't in biznizz with......The green Omega is a wow piece
💚💚💚
I really think this is the best watch related RUclips Channel around. Great work guys!
It's about effing time you guys did an episode with this format! I love it! Hoping to see more excursions and challenges from the boys
Quality episode lads, hope to see more of these challenges in future seasons. Also that JLC is stunning, easy winner, shame about availability.
Ohhhh if only Don if only!!!
Hope youre able to make that connection now 😀
Another banger lads, cheers for making my Sunday far better.
You are most welcome
This episode was so cool… love that they took this so competitive. Please please do this challenge with other types of watches
My favourite show on RUclips keep it up guys
I’m new to the watch world and this show is one of the most fun and informational videos out there!!! Thank you!
This challenge was amazing! Please do a chrono and a dress version soon!
🗒️
Def on the cards. Great suggestion MLDJ
I loved this episode! Please keep doing more content like this.
Great episode keep it up, a great Italian brand that is underrated is squale and of course spaghetti scameti

Best episode so far. Just brilliant! 😎
fab comment. this gives us fire to go harder. thanks Guy.
@@marcusflack1523 Don’t ever stop!
Pretty cool to be honest, didn’t think I would like it but here I am finishing the video . Great job guys! Keep the challenges going
What a great episode. I feel almost as exhausted as you guys running around town to find THE best dive watches... But, In a good way cause that sure seemed like a lot of fun. Best incentive to get some cardio and out of the office time to stretch out.
Akash and I did 10k steps 😮💨😮💨😮💨 - Andrew
hahahahaha now get out there and run tiger. Nice to have you with us Khrono Kraze
This was super fun to watch. First off, love seeing London in this way. More of that! Secondly, this was just a gem of an episode. It felt authentic and very well produced. You guys are getting into a rhythm.
YESSSSSS
I’m becoming a dad for the first time in May. There has been quite a bit of change going on in my life right now and finding this show has been one of the most positive changes!
Whether I’m building things for the nursery or organizing I’m pretty much always listening to these guys and catching up on the live streams. Adrian’s story telling, Andrew’s enthusiasm and wit, and George’s eye for design have been so cool to learn from. Plus, I now feel okay continuing to save for an Aquaracer!
Cheers!
We screen shot and shared this comment on our WhatsApp -THANK YOU - AAGM
Seiko prospex Lx under 10, Longine hydroconquest 43 ceramic under 5, Mido Ocean star captain 200 under a grand. George phoned it in. Nice work!
I am shocked the three of you were allowed to walk the streets together!
We weren’t - that’s why we split 😆
hmmmm more information....explain your self jeeperspeepers.
@@Sam_D ❤
I think sometimes we must all read between the lines fellas. Georges fast journey only added to the drama of the show. If you missed that one and blame George for not hunting harder its unfortunate. Dont worry we will be looking at loads of Dive watches in this categeory in the future.
Absolutely fab vid.....please do more of this style of content...your comaraderie and banter is so great so please please give us more....
your wish is our command Gerry
G-Shock is a cheat code
🤷♂
hahahahaha perhaps very very true
What a comment. Thank you!
Best episode so far 😉👍!
Best fun too 🙏🏻
Great to see you here Dan. About Effing Time!!!!!
Killing it gentlemen! Best show yet! As for the choices:
George- predictable (probably arranged a Bamford edition while there)
Adrian- surprising (I was sure you'd bring a GO)
Andrew- also predictable (first watch I thought of) ××winner××
If you do another challenge, raise the budgets (maybe double) and do chronographs.
📝
The blue and white PloProf is cheaper than the Ultra Deep - £10,160. If Adrian wanted to stay within budget in the Omega boutique he should have gone for the Planet Ocean Chronograph, which is the same size case as the Ultra Deep (but thinner?) and £7,800. It definitely has presence!
George could have had a Zodiac Super Sea Wolf on rubber for his £1k.
The zodiac would have crushed
Awesome style of video guys, great choices! I was surprised how well the ultra deep wore when I tried it on also.
🙌
man thats such a massive watch but yes the lugs make it wear that much better hey
