I thought the same: ..."may hit a WHAT??? A car? A brick wall? A nerve?" Just kidding... It's Land among the stars, but it cracked me up that the quote stopped so open-endedly
Always accept crutch training when it's offered after surgery! I opted out because I was ready to get out and go home. I thought, duh, I know how to use crutches. I used a knee scooter for a month and transitioned into crutches for two weeks and boy, it was more difficult than I anticipated! I realized I actually didn't know how to walk with them at all. I never felt confident that I was using them right and almost fell a few times. So, moral of the story, don't assume you know how to use crutches, ask PT for training!
My husb wasn't even offered training after his surgery. I sent him Bob & Brad's video bc He is struggling every day with his crutches & I will have knee replacement this summer. When I sent him this video he was so upset at not having any crutch training!!
@@BobandBrad It helped a lot!! And he's taking what he watched to show his doctor when he next sees him. I am a huge believer in PT bc it can save your mobility and in my case, my life!! I had bilateral sciatica just out of the blue. It took six months of PT...modalities, exercise, trunk stabilization. 19 years later, I still have the flexibility I developed in PT. After I have a knee replacement this summer, I want to get my crutch behaviors right!!🤣 Thanks again, guys!!
Be extra careful on the stairs. Is no fun. I was being careful, but missed the step with the crutch, I almost fell going down the steps and used the crutch to catch myself. Xray showed nothing. Been 2 years of slight pain in shoulder and near my neck in front. But hey doc said nothing wrong.
Nobody uses this type of crutch here in Europe. We use elbow crutches instead. I've never even seen one of these irl (I work in healthcare). They look both uncomfortable and unpractical.
@@BobandBrad That's a bizarre and slightly disappointing reply. Why would you feel "sorry" about that. I would find it more interesting why US healthcare seems to prefer this type of crutches. But your reply makes me wonder if there is an actual rational reason behind this, I'll go and investigate this a bit.

Ya good advice time, I went for my son's crutches but, as he's way taller, they were useless, not unlike like my husband who didn't run out to buy me proper sized ones, oh well, no wonder he had me sign a pre-nup 😈! 🌈 🏖 🦄
