Great video. I had 3D Lapiplasty bunion surgery. The hospital sent me home with a walker due to non bearing weight on affected foot. My arms were exhausted after using. Little did I know the walker was too tall for me. I adjusted,as per the video, and what a difference it made. I had to adjust it down three notches! Bob and Brad, as always, great info. Thank you.

I've been home for 5 days, now awaiting home health! The point! I have a hard time with my walker and the non weight bearing walk. Your video has been very helpful. Thank you guys!
I broke my foot and had surgery. First I tried using a walker as I'm dangerous on crutches. By the time I'd hopped down my hallway with the walker I was absolutely exhausted it took so much effort. I ended up getting a kneelie walker
I got exhausted using walker or cruthes for anything more than a few feet. So a knee rest scooter enabeled me to do so much more when non weight bearing. Once I was weight bearing as tolerated,, I used walker or crutches. Also, my non wheeled walker was much more stable when the front two legs were set a notch taller than the back 2 legs. It was not so prone to tipping forward. ( I had left ankle surgery)
The problem is none of these videos have people with actual fractures and cam boots on demonstrating the correct way to use a walker or crutch, it looks too easy here you can’t just slide the good leg forward because of the cam boot (rocker sole heel to toe movement) and the weak injured leg/ankle. You have to sort partial hop the good leg. I wish there was a video with actual injured person using cam boot teaching how to use a walker properly I’m finding it extremely frustrating recovering in a boot from my foot and ankle injuries due to mostly misleading information and videos that don’t represent things accurately

Wow. That comment was so long ago. I don’t quite have the same flexibility in my left ankle, but life is back to normal. The only thing is I sprained my right ankle, which has been my good ankle until now. It got better, but the pain seems to be lingering.
Susan Mundy in hindsight, if I hadn’t fallen as soon as I left the ER, if I had some help learning how to use the crutches, and didn’t have to immediately go upstairs and up hills in the grass to get to my parents’ house, I think I could’ve used crutches. But after that second fall, I was scared. Have you considered a knee scooter? That ultimately ended up being my main mode of transportation until I could bear some weight. I still used the walker for things like getting down and up off the toilet, getting in and out of the shower, getting in and out of the house, etc.It took me a little time to get used to it, making tight corners in three point turns. My parents house was built in the 70s, and the doors are a lot more narrow, and the hallway is pretty tight. So it was a while before I was really comfortable with it.

ThT happened with my crutches. I had used them in high school with no problem. But I didn’t try it out in the ER. The guy gave me verbal directions, and then stopped themselves and said that they told me the wrong stuff. I was supposed to do the opposite of what he said. I had trouble because my cast was too high, and I couldn’t bend my leg behind me. I was trying to hold it in front of me. That’s why I feel when I got home from the ER. We got my walker from Walmart, and it was a miracle. But there was a lag time until the physical therapist came and help me. And there was a lag time before I saw the physical therapist after I had partial weight bearing status. Basically, I had my walker too low for partiss asl weight bearing until I was almost done with it.
My dad has weak legs and he’ll just fall when his legs give out. Is there a walker that has a seat or support so that when he does fall, it won’t be in the ground
Jane Voris pick the one that’s the most sore? 🤷♀️ This is my guess, though. I imagine you would switch back-and-forth so you don’t put all your weight on one leg all the time
if you do not stop occasionally ,, you will get hit by the train or bus... woody woodpecker... theres nothing safe about a walker.. i was on one for a year a few years back.. highly unstable, horrible design..those who need them are in serious danger every moment

@@susanmundy4786 hi. Same situation i have also. Im in my wgeelchair alot Ii am definitely getting ramps. But the removable ones. I saw some on line that are more affordable. Love your comment.
i accidentally put my whole body pressure on my calcaneus fracture leg and now its paining a lot, my calcaneus will be fracture again?
It's hard to say without a proper examination. Be very careful with it and if possible, please see your doctor for an in person exam.
@BobandBrad okay thanks for you reply 👍
Really helpful, thank you
Hi doc,, i just wanna ask for your opinion, about my case i broke my tibia and fibula last september 11,2021 and i had my ORIF surgery the day after September 12 ,2021 and now im on my 3 months of recovery and still i can't walk and im on my non bearing weight, I have titanium plates both tibia and fibula with 15 screws on, and finally im wearing my boots after 3 months on cast with walker, Im skateboarder, and im wondering if i can go back skating again ? And how long can i go back on skating ? I really love skateboarding
I have an incredibly sore shoulder and pec from using a walker after hip surgery. How do I avoid this? Right hip surgery; left shoulder and pec extremely painful. My walker is adjusted as you suggest.
A walker with skis is safer. Thx Bob and Brad love you both from Montreal Qc ..
I would put a board across the rails in the front to rest my knee on and off I go
I am now using a walker for my sciatica can't deal with this pain if that's even what it is
ob and bread it's been three years since my right leg amputation haven't been able to walk yet with the prosthetic leg I have a walker but usually no one's home but I want to start training so I can walk again do you know that I've been sitting so long I know it's going to be a big challenge can you give me some ideas on how I can walk again please
Do the walkers come with a seat (not the rolator)
I need a walker. Didn’t receive one when leaving hospital
Can you please explain how high my husband's walker needs to be he's 6'5* thank you
They stated your wrist come to the top sides of the walker.
How use waker 50% load barring?
Nobody ever taught me how to use a walker, setting up the walker, or anything.
You're rightthey give it to you with no intsructions hobto use it in close corners ect
You guys are adorable!
My dad has weak legs and he’ll just fall when his legs give out. Is there a walker that has a seat or support so that when he does fall, it won’t be in the ground
My mom also. Thats the reason why I came across this vid. Looking for recommendation
What if both legs are sore?
Jane Voris pick the one that’s the most sore? 🤷♀️
This is my guess, though. I imagine you would switch back-and-forth so you don’t put all your weight on one leg all the time
if you do not stop occasionally ,, you will get hit by the train or bus... woody woodpecker...
theres nothing safe about a walker.. i was on one for a year a few years back.. highly unstable, horrible design..those who need them are in serious danger every moment
a good safe walker should have 2 more legs at least 1 to 2 feet further forward, sideways and behind..but it would be a monstrosity
@@johnnyllooddte3415 mine is!...lol...but try to only use in a large store
But it was more expensive and has a seat
Oh. Along with my other comment. Im also in a boot.
I don't appreciate you are dissing the use of a Rollator Walker at the end of the video. Works well for this 71 year old man living and walking, with spina bifida.
How do you maintain your posture with a 4 wheeled walker with seat? My walker is as tall as it gets even though it is advertised for up to 6’5”. (I’m 5’9”) What am I doing wrong?
You were demonstrating walking with the walker too far in front grrr I’m trying to teach someone Not to do that!
