- In this lesson we're going to learn banjolele / ukulele techniques that help enhance that Bluegrass / Old Time sound. We'll learn a simple three chord version of This Little Light of Mine as well as how to play a chord melody instrumental. This lesson is great for beginners who are comfortable with basic chords and strumming.

I'm so glad you share your videos, I really enjoy your teaching style as well as the content!! I started with rhythm guitar and I'm ok at it, basically my voice has always been my instrument but I LOVE the banjolele and I'm so glad that I found your channel because your song choices are my style of music. I sang locally mainly traditional Country, Bluegrass, Gospel and also Folk and I love them all!

Love the video, adding a few hammer-ons adds so much to the melody. I've enjoyed so many of your videos and your presentations are improving all the time. Another that I liked was "i remember everything" fingerpicking. I get alot of complements on it. I would like to be able to learn how to figure out a fingerpicking pattern for all songs, like long monday or clay pigeons (ok, I'm a John Prine fan). Any tips would help.

Kelly, most enjoyable to listen to you make those strings sing. Excellent! This is off topic, however if you can find the time could you give some advice as to looking after the fretboard re oiling etc. My Ohana is starting to get marks no doubt from the oil on my fingers practicing chords in various areas.
Hi Therese - glad you enjoyed the video! For fretboards - I was taught to use Murphy's Oil Soap (lemon). I just rub it in with a cloth, then wipe it off to remove any dirt/excess oil. Depending on how dry the wood is sometimes I'll rub it in a second time and again wipe it off. You don't want/need to "soak" it. This seems to work well for me. There are commercially available fretboard products as well if you do a search on cleaning and conditioning fretboards. Hope that helps!! Kelly
