Chochieva has to be the highlight of this set. I have her Rachmaninoff Sonata no. 1 and Op. 22 on a separate release and they are miracles of performance. There are few who match her outstanding melodic clarity which is desperately hard to achieve in music this dense. Her Etude Tableaux (which Im hearing for the first time) has that same perfect clarity. Many thanks for this release.
Thanks so much! Elisa Tomellini is great (04:49:19). The best rendering of the first sonata, in my opinion, is by Boris Berezovsky. I wish I could find a recording by Rachmaninov himself, but unfortunately, there seems not to exist a recording of him playing the sonata.
Thank you for uploading this. I was not familiar with Rachmaninoff's work (except for the piano concertos) and I was surprised to hear something familiar. It was indeed Chopin's prelude in C minor (with variations) ! Anyway, Rachmaninoff's piano pieces are outstanding.
Rachmaninoff's sonata no 2 wasn't in this... so maybe not "complete piano works". This is still wonderful to listen to though! I like that even his transcriptions are here.
They didn't say that, the video says "Rachmaninoff: Piano Music", the recordings are taken from an album of Rach's complete piano music but not all tracks are featured here :) it's missing a few pieces like the Corelli variations, sonata 2, three nocturnes
@@ulysse__ I know lol! His (Second piano sonata), sorry I should have been more specific. It can't be complete piano works without all the piano works is all I'm saying. It's still a very good list of songs and I have no real complaints.

These aren’t the only possible interpretations, nor may they be to everyone’s taste, but they are objectively good. Are there better? It’s a matter of opinion. Meanwhile, enjoy the music, which by any standards is well played, and revel in a different slant from that of the composer himself, if such it is.
