    Rachmaninov never fails in inspiration, innovation and pure post romantic music. His piano compositions, his piano concerti, his symphonies, altogether real monuments in music history. He had the ability of not falling into exaggeration
    and keep his own aestheticism that makes the great public falls in love with his creations.
    Excellent performance under Petrenko conduction . Thank you!!

    Vasily Petrenko is a master for Russian Romanticism music

    • @danmoran454
      @danmoran454 4 года назад +7

      @ jiadongma1: I'd like to rewrite that by saying that Vasily Petrenko AND the Oslo Philharmonic are masters for Russian Romanticism music because without the Orchestra we wouldn't have this superb performance. Also, I'm not into conductor worshipping and I don't get the sense from Vasily that he's into that either. He seems very down-to-Earth and doesn't make it all about himself. He understands that such an outstanding performance such as this was the result of a collaboration between the stellar musicians and their immense artistry who actually performed the work and Vasily (who didn't play a note). But together, they gave a memorable performance. It's not all about the conductor, but all the highly-trained and regarded musicians on stage. So to credit only Vasily is, I feel, really being rather disrespectful to the musicians who masterfully performed the piece, sitting before him.

      Mianda Lin - Have you such a good hearing, as to hear every instrument? I am (i.e. was, because now I'm old) a conductor and I tell you, it is not always easy to hear every sound produced by the orchestra. Some composers are not good for orchestrate and one finds heaps of music no one can hear.

    • @wendyscott8425
      @wendyscott8425 3 месяца назад

      @@jeanghika7653 Well, this piece has magnificent orchestration. Sometimes the instruments blend into a single sound so gorgeous it's hard to believe. Sometimes, we hear solos with accompaniment. Of course, we don't hear every instrument separately all the time, but that's not the point. All these people with all these diverse instruments with their own unique sounds combine to make such beautiful music. To me, it's all symbolic of how people can come together in unity and do beautiful things under the right leadership and with the right design.

    Wonderful symphony, sometimes moving. Seeing you continuously in your concerts makes me feel I know you almost personally, I love you all, and of course very great Petrenko and Mäkelä ...

    Whenever I hear the adagio from this marvelous symphony I always think of the romantic 1945 movie "Brief Encounter" with Cilia Johnson and Trevor Howard. The use of this music as a backdrop to their secret love affair was so poignant .

      But it's abstract music ! It goes beyond romantic scenes...It says more...

    This is the most beautiful piece of music ever written!! It reduces me to tears every time I listen to it. What saddened me most is the fact was the music was constantly interrupted by ads!! I was very disappointed this happened - why did it happen??

      I agree, but the purpose of the internet (we must remember) is to make money for someone. Everything else is just collateral damage.
