I got this at Fort Knox yesterday. I’m not really a knife person but when I was browsing the shelf’s and saw this I couldn’t resist from buying. It’s so beautiful
I bought the thumb stud version a couple of years ago. It’s my “going out” knife. I didnt like how the thumb stud sat with it closed so I shaved the handle around the stud just enough, now it’s perfect! Plan on buying another just so in case something happens to the original.
I got both versions of the CEO and it is more like a 1.0 and a 2.0. The flipper has a longer blade by just a hair and I don't think any parts would interchange other than fasteners. You are correct the thumb stud/1.0 version can be tough to deploy but with a little practice I got it down pretty well. Actually Amazon shipped me two of the 1.0's that never showed so if they ever turn up I might have a couple to send out.
I have the thumb stud version, and carry it all the time! Sometimes i even forget i have it, so light compared to many of my other knives. Also left handed, yet opens easily with a spidey flick
I am a righty and I have both versions but have retired the thumb-stud version. I know you will love the truly ambidextrous design of the flipper. You can rotate the pocket clip. The lines are even more classy and the grip is even better.
Nice review! I'm not a big fan of CRKT knives in general. But this CEO flipper is an extremely sleek and appealing design where the wow factor comes from how minimal and clean it looks. Ordered the CEO flipper with black handle and black blade and I already know I'll take this knife with me everywhere.
I always wanted a CEO . Not sure why I didn’t end up with one . I still want the thumb stud version though . I love how completely streamline the shape is on the thunmb stud version . I know that little flipper tab shouldn’t make that much difference in my mind , but it takes that streamline and throws a bump in it to me . Don’t get me wrong , I would still try the flipper version of the opportunity presents itself , I just prefer the thumb stud version looks . It just seem like a perfect backup or dress up carry !! Thanks for the video !! Take care brother ..
I bought the thumb stud version first and always had difficulty getting the knife to open reliably and the blade lock was difficult because I had difficulty with the pass through or more likely lack of pas through Always tore up the pad of my thumb and nail. I like the flipper much better. I find it exponentially easier to open and I have less difficulty closing it too. This knife makes a good folding steak knife as well! Until I got my Honey Badgers I carried it often. Good review, Beez!
The one thing everyone either ignores or just doesn't know about is that the CEO flipper and exec flipper by Richard Rogers are essentially copies of the Chinese version of the CEO and executive that has been around for as long as the original executive has long before crkt or Richard Rogers put a flipper on either of these knives
Nice. Always intrigued me, the CEO. This vid made me get out my CRKT LCK and compare. The LCK is a little wider in handle (3/4") and blade (3/4"), heavier by a mile (no milling on liners) (and yeah, wrong units lol), but about 1/2 the price and it's also pointy like, like a thing that's really pointy. Coincidentally, both names 3-letter acronyms...irrelevant but 'huh.' So you might like one of those also. I have one lying around if you want to check it out but dont want to spend the 15 - 20+shipping dollars...
You know, fractions make more sense to me since I've used tape measures my whole life, but everybody wants decimals . I have like 15 tape measures and that's what I'm used to. The LCK looks like more of an actual knife. If my channel grows to the point I have shipping money, remind me and I'll do it for sure. Thanks Ninja.
@@BeezBlades Amen to fractions! My boss on site never asked for a board "six feet, two inches, and a hundred and twenty-five thousandths" lol. Heck, some reviewers (rhymes with nettles bomb flex) use a standard tape but then say 'three point six, three point seven' and that's just pretending to use the thing anyway. And I'd ship it to you; I meant "if you don't want to buy one from the Ruger website for 15 or 20 dollars plus whatever they'd charge for shipping" 😁👍
At $40 I can see the appeal of it being a great edc for office or special occasion. At $140 for S35VN it's too much of a stretch. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable.
What're you opinions on the detent and flipper tab? I've seen a fairly large number of reviews commenting the knife is very difficult to open, even people cutting their fingers on the sharpness of the flipper tab.
The flipper on mine isn't sharp, and I learned that if you start with your index finger resting above the tab, it opens perfectly. If you use the flipper tab, starting with your fingertip on top of the flipper, it's much more difficult to open. It seems to be made for the "light switch" approach.
I like the stabby blade. If he ever make a higher end one with better materials, I would get one. Unfortunately, CRKT isn’t known for fit & finish. Nice review
I haven't done a lot of box cutting with it, simply because I always have a bigger knife with me and this one is more of a package opener with a thinner handle.
I bought this knife and it's a good little flipper. I liked that it is so inconspicuous but I use it every day at work and I'm a bit tough on it. Don't suppose anyone can recommend a small edc that can take some abuse. Appreciate any response.
I mean, I would more-than-most blades are a flat grind from the edge to a certain point towards the spine. They are strong, but technically the thickness behind the edge gets a hair thicker every time they are sharpened. If you have a thin blade stock or a nice, deep blade they can be super slicey!
You got a like for saying where it's made. Hard no to China for me. Thank you. Anything similar to but better than this? I lost mine recently and wasn't happy with how sharp it came (not very!).
@@BeezBlades doesn't have to be US made, just definitely not China. Eg happy to support Taiwan. However hoping for ever so slightly bigger whike still folding slender and a higher end steel. M390 S30V S35VN or similar maybe? Just repeating others here, not an expert but own plenty of good knives that are well sharper used than the CEO came new.
Mine broke in two days of normal use. I like the knife but switched to an opinel. CRKT has some quality control issues. It's a shame bc they put out some really nice designs.
DONT BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP. CARRY IT IN YOUR POCKET WHICH PITS IT TIP UP. SOMETHING LIKE SETTING DOWN OR SOMETHING IN YOUR POCKET PUSHES THE FLIPPER.....YOU STICK YOUR HAND IN AND YOU PULL IT OUT BLEEDING AND NEEDING STITCHES. INSIDE COAT POCKET SAME THING IS POSSIBLE. I'M SENDING MINE BACK.
I got this at Fort Knox yesterday. I’m not really a knife person but when I was browsing the shelf’s and saw this I couldn’t resist from buying. It’s so beautiful
Completely agree, it's one of the cleanest designs I've ever seen, and at a very fair price I'm happy to pay.

good review- bought it on your review…sanded the corners off and rounded out the bottom - cus you were right they are sharp corners- perfect now

The flipper does take away from the streamlined appeal now that I'm looking at pictures of the thumb stud version. I took the easy way out hahaha.
@@BeezBlades that is my only gripe and it’s not much of one . For what the CEO is , it seems super solid !!

Interesting! I love learning new things about knives every day. Thank you Anthony!!
Very cool knife. I like the slim slender profile and for the price great to have for office or dress up. Great review 👍
Thanks Jeremy. It was an excuse to have another knife in another pocket hahaha.
Just bought 3 of these… Great! 👍🏻

The clip is ambi. The S35V version looks interesting with the micarta scales :)
Right. I didn't know there was an upgraded steel version. That's pretty cool.
@@BeezBlades l’m just glad to see them offering better materials on some models.
where did you see the upgraded version? can't find it online.
Just wondering,, if we can use it for cooking i camp or bush craft. What do you think?

Better blade steel would be nice but there's nothing wrong with the fit & finish of this knife, IMO.
Will this thing destroy boxes or is the edge retention poor compared to higher quality steels
I haven't done a lot of box cutting with it, simply because I always have a bigger knife with me and this one is more of a package opener with a thinner handle.
It being AUS8 I would expect fairly frequent touchups to keep in tip top shape. The new run in D2 should hold up a little better to abrasion.

Spyderco Dragonfly is a great one if you don't have super huge hands and you don't wanna cut coconuts.
Nice.
Do you plan on reviewing the Civivi Altus asap? I think I gotta have one....
Yes, as soon as I can get one!
Luv it perfectly slim thanks Beez👍🐝✌
nice vid man just ordered mine
what are flat grinds good for exactly?

What do you call a polo shirt? All of my polo shirt do not have pockets.
The Polo shirt that I wear has pockets with a flap.
Looks like a nice stabby slicey fella!
It is the pointiest knife I've ever seen

Good stuff :)
Cute letter opener. I guess it could be a nose picker too.
I keep thinking wedding carry more then office carry. Weird I know 🗡🤵👰🔪🤣
You could always cut the wedding cake with it😅
It’s a nice gift for the best man…
I carried a pocket knife during my wedding, never go without one no matter the size or situation

It's not so weird if it suddenly turns into a "red wedding"
