      If you read Bobbi Browns book people were sick of him just like most drunks. You get tired of the smell, the attitude, the slovenly way they take care of themselves, he was very abusive as well. That's why he had the note in his pocket, her and the band started putting them in his clothes because they knew that was the way he was going to be found. Absolutely tragic but he wouldn't get help.

      Right?! Disgusting!, that 911 call stressed me out and made me angry! That’s so inconsiderate and careless of them not to be willing! He may have been saved if someone wasn’t so selfish and actually went in to check on him and help him!

    • @kimberlyhood4095
      @kimberlyhood4095 26 дней назад

      @@cathyl5888 unfortunately those motels are flophouses and the people working there aren't going to touch someone they think may have a disease. They didn't know it was Jani Lane, they saw another od, another junkie, another drunk. At least his family started putting his name in his pocket so he could be identified, there was a long history of it from his early 20's.

    • @LuisaD93
      @LuisaD93 22 дня назад +3

      Would u have been willing to go into the room of a stranger who was more than likely dead and touch them? Honestly? Would anyone else who commented? I truly don’t know many people who would. Me included. If I see someone needs help and are still kicking then yeah. And I have done so and even performed CPR on a friend but would seriously think twice about it on a stranger unless they fell right in front of me and I knew my chest compressions would help. We all talk and judge others for things most aren’t willing to do themselves. So it’s a legitimate question. Would you? And I’m not being nasty. I genuinely want to know.

    • @marigold7250
      @marigold7250 22 дня назад +2

      @@LuisaD93 Yes, I would, because listening to the call, they were not sure he had passed, and so if there was any chance he could be alive I would want to help if I could even a stranger that can be someone's dad or brother or son.

    Thank you Jordan. It is such a sad story. I appreciate you speaking about the secret that seems to have been the root cause of a lot of his self medicating. After a lot of sleuthing, I'm pretty sure who/when. It's just sad that he wasn't able to get some justice and peace. The responsible party for causing so much pain will absolutely pay for what they did sooner or later. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to see him perform along with Warrant in a small venue in Fresno, CA many years ago. He was very charismatic. Very talented to say the least. I remember he had a shiner at the time and I watched him jump into the crowd while he was singing. He was flat on his back while the crowd sort of shuffled him around. I remember being a little scared for him at the time and asking myself it this guy was just crazy or too trusting. I don't know, but one heck of a show.

    My band opened for Jani and his band back in late July of 2007 at an outdoor concert.He and his band were really cool with us. Myself and our bands other guitarist noticed him standing alone leaning against a tree while we were loading out after the show so we chatted him up. He said my next stop is in Vegas and I’m betting on red. He said always bet on red guys! We talked some more had a few laughs shook hands and went our separate ways. He was funny seemed sober at the time. Just as nice and professional musician as you’d expect. We were all shocked and saddened when he passed away.

It was cool because he just sang the songs and was walking around the casino with his fiancé like everyone else. I said hi Jani and he smiled. I had asked him why he didn’t sing cherry pie (everyone was waiting for him to sing that one.) He shrugged and said “I tried , I tried.” I have no idea what that meant but it’s neat to have that little story/memory.

    Watching an interview with Jani he explained how bably he wanted Uncle Toms Cabin instead of Cherry Pie as an album cover. He hated that song with a passion because it took him about five minutes to write and he didn't think it showed his greatest work like UTC did. He pretty much refused to play it after he got older. UTC is an amazing song compared to CP.

    he was never the official Great White lead singer. he certainly did sing lead for GW, but it was always as a guest vocalist for a limited time while Jack Russell was ill. irony, Jack Russell died today.
    fun fact, while Jani was working as the GW guest vocalist, GW was booked to perform in the Minneapolis area. the opening band that night was Warrant. i was going to go to that show, but ended up skipping it due to a death in the family. but those not up-to-date probably showed up not having a clue Robert Mason was Warrant's lead singer, or that the Cherry Pie guy would be there that night, but not singing the Warrant hits.
    i've never heard that 911 call, although i've never looked for it, either.
    while he may have been able to drink a ton, the 2008 Warrant reunion didn't last long because Lane was a mess on stage on a recurring basis. the cameras and video weren't as slick 15+ years ago, but video clips that use to be available on RUclips, and maybe still are, show what a mess he was on stage, and why he was fired by the band months into the full reunion.
    i don't think he gets enough credit for his songwriting. was it all brilliant? no, of course not. but he wrote some great stuff.

    I don't feel sorry for him. He achieved and made more money and success than most people ever will. They kicked off the Cherry Pie tour in Bismarck, North Dakota and the Dog Eat Dog tour with Lynch Mob and Tora Tora. That was 1992. I was 16, there for Lynch Mob. My friends all wanted to see Warrant. I remember later in the set, Jani came out in nothing but tight boxer shorts and sitting on a stool with an acoustic guitar talking to the audience drunk off his ass. It really surprised me how drunk he was. He came off sad and angry. Even threatened somebody in the audience for something or other? Don't remember what it was? Like you said he said though, that music was on it's way out. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Radiohead were taking over.
