I will never forget how scary it was that hot summer, my dad was a bouncer at night clubs in Hollywood and worked all night and didn't come home in till the early mornings. We had to keep all our windows closed all night and I slept with a baseball bat to protect my mom and sister incase the Night Stalker showed up. My dad said I was the man of the house when he was at work. As a 11 year old I took that seriously. We were so excited to hear he was finally caught
I don't have understand why Rsmiiz thought he had a right to hurt so many people. So when he died I'm sure God and Jesus placed him at ok I'm in in him where he belonged DJ
That was my aunt who Ramirez tried to car jack, and my uncle who came out to beat Ramirez with the pipe. I always get a kick out of these videos and clips of the capture and seeing them featured. 🙌🏻. Great, detailed video sir.
Amazing how the whole community came together to get him. Even when they didn’t know who he actually was, the fact that someone needed help they just jumped in to help. Great job!
Yes I was shocked when I got home after meeting my friend I dint want tell her what had happen so when I got home i locked my self in my room and never told a soul, ultil just maybe today. Why I say maybe because, some stories are best to be kept secret, they are not suitable for everyone.
@4:37 I love how humble Manuel De La Torre is in this interview! Dude just saved not only his wife, but countless future victims of the Night Stalker. He's a hero but he's not prideful. We need more Manuels in the world :)
Thank you Michael for your hard work. My boyfriend is from East L.A. and at the time of all this, he was in L.A. County Jail where Ramirez was finally taken. One day it was time for the vans to pick up inmates to take them to the courthouse. And my boyfriend was loaded up on the van with other inmates from East L.A. The van door was all the way open and another van rolled up about 2 parking spaces over and out comes Ramirez shackled and many correctional officers. Ramirez looks at the guys in East L.A. bus and says “Hey Homies!” Like he was some kind of celebrity and all the gangster from East L.A. said who you calling homie? All the guys were upset that he killed women and old lady. And Ramirez got so scared and he shut up. He was running scared at the jail. They gangs let him know he was done. After court he was kept in segregation because the correctional officers knew he wouldn’t survive unless he was P.C. d out. Once at San Quentin he was on lock down. That’s the only way he survived all those years.
Heard the same he couldn't be out in the yard and stuff caused so many wanted too kill him 😂. He thought he wouldn't be a celebrity to others locked up. But convicts have systers and mothers that where frightened under that time. So they wanted to get even.
I was in my early 20’s living in So Cal when Ramirez was on his murder spree. A lot of sleepless nights wondering where he would hit next. Very scary times and it was such a relief when he got caught. The fear spreading throughout So Cal was totally indescribable. Great video as always! ❤
Great video! I was 8 years old living in West Covina at the time Richard Ramirez was on his spree. I completely understood what was going on because our parents and teachers talked about it pretty openly. It was a turning point in our neighborhoods where people got bars on their windows and replaced their locks to heavy duty locks. Before this, no one really thought about home security. It really was a very scary time.
As a true crime lover also, I really appreciate these videos. On site, photo, and location depictions are great perspective points. Better then most documentaries. Your telling of these stories are so realistic.
Michael you're so good at hosting these videos, it's such high quality content and delivery on your part that I can't believe you don't have a team of writers giving you scripts. I said this once during one of your live streams but you should be hosting Unsolved Mysteries or something like that. Bravo!
15:56 that is my grandpa on the LAPD! He was the one who brought Richard Ramirez in. He told me the story of this day and it was cool to see this video played out just like he told me. Thanks for making this video. I always enjoy seeing footage that I haven’t seen of my grandpa.
RIP to the victims. The first victims were just pulling into their driveway and were randomly and brutally killed. Police were baffled because there was no motive. Soon later police would realize they had a serial murderer on their hands. Once he was labeled the Nightstalker, his crimes got even more brutal and he relished in the name.
Insane how much love Richard gets from AMERICAN HORROR STORY. I once took on the name “bikes the night stalker.” I liked to ride in the night.. I gave that name up after I read about some of the murders
I was around sixteen in '85 when this nutjob was caught. This dude put a lot of fear into people and it made locking your doors absolutely mandatory. The people that brought him down probably saved a number of lives. As always, great video.
@@howardb.6205 So you were right there, I lived and still live in the Sacramento area, so we're roughly six hours from L.A., give or take. And knowing this guy was hitting the West Coast, we were right there with you, always wondering. That's the crappy part about someone like him, Bundy, you name it, you know they're on the loose, and if the law can't catch them, it's pretty much up to you. That's the greatest part of how he was caught, the people took the law into their own hands. Terrific job in lining up the shots and giving precise locations and their occurrences. Really enjoy every video and going on these journeys with you guys.
Wow! Brings back haunting memories for me. As a 22 yr old living with my mom. He was only 4 blocks away from us. As I learned from a news update on an attack. It was scary to know he was that close. Thank God he was caught. And at the time I too owned a 66 mustang 😳 and parked in her driveway. Wow!! This video brought back a memory that I kinda forgot about. 🥺🎃🖤
Great work Michael... I grew up in L.A. about 15 minutes from where they caught Ramirez. I can still hear my mom's shaky relieved voice like it was yesterday ... "they caught the SOB!"
It’s scary to think that during that time in LA, there were several other high profile serial killers including Richard. LA must’ve been absolutely terrifying at night during this time.
Yes.. very true they weren’t actually catching the rite guy RR, they also had the Golden State Killer that was berly. I always love to watch your documentaries, you’re so thorough with all of the info, and tell it so nicely. You do an amazing job lining up all of the locations.
I was 14 when all this was going on. I love how these neighbors came together and got him. He was a monster. I remember at the time there was a made for TV movie about it. I remember the scene where he saw his picture at the liquor store. I love that you did a video about this today! I love seeing the actual locations of these things! I have been a true crime junkie since I was young and it's so interesting to see places I always saw on TV or read about.
Why protecting the little ones is so important can’t let them be around people like that his parents weren’t that great of parents to allow that to happen
A very disturbing time. I remember the dis-ease of knowing there was a lunatic loose. I was 32 and living in Sacramento and even there, I felt unsafe when thinking about that dude. TYVM! You do excellent work.
You had a right to be frightened up in Sacramento because around the same time or a bit earlier there was a serial r apist / killer on the loose. He’s the one who got caught via family DNA. Also, most do not know this. Richard Ramirez was a c hild killer too. His DNA was linked to a murdered 9 year old Chinese girl up north near San Francisco. It’s a true mystery as to why this was covered up and continues to be covered up.
My sister was a called to be on the jury for his trial (she ended up being dismissed) and said she has never felt such evil in her life. He gave all the jurors the most creepy death stare. I find his interviews very fascinating. He was so articulate!

Thank you for an interesting episode. I can't imagine how many hours went into researching old photos and piecing them together to pinpoint these locations. Greetings from South Africa!
I'm very impressed with the quality and attention to detail you showed in your video. I really like the comparison shots from '85 to current, they are second to none. Keep up the good work! I was in my 20's in 1985 so I remember all the news media reports, etc. Certainly would have been scary that summer if you're living in LA
Another great video, thank you Michael! The Netflix Night Stalker doc definitely affected me too. I'm a huge true crime 'fan' but something about that particular doc really hit differently
Well done. I was a teen living near Burbank during the Night Stalker period. I remember all the news reports, and we even lived near one of the victims. I remember watching the news stories of his capture. Crazy stuff. And still would love to see an episode of filming locations for the original Carrie to include my elementary school, Morningside. 😀
Thanks for the vid. That Netflix documentary scared me too. My former landlady worked in LA during that time and told me how freaked out everyone was. The Zak Bagans Haunted Museum in Vegas has some of his stuff on display.
Great video!! I moved in the area a few years ago from the inland empire. And since the move, I have been exploring LA’s backyard because of you. Thanks so much for the inspiration, you guys rock!
Can't wait to watch this! I think I've mentioned this before, but if you ever make it to Sacramento Ca, you should consider making a video on Richard Chase and Dorthea Puente.
Hi Micheal, I am a guitarist the way from cape Town South Africa, I am so happy to have come across your channel in 2022, I cannot go a day without watching it, i even re watch all your vids over and over, You are so good at these videos, thank you for bringing my childhood memories back to life again, especially with goonies and Phantasm, heck, all of them 🙂
Wow, I didn't know anything about Manuel De La Torre! This is why I love this channel. You are both so thorough and everything is so well documented! Happy Halloween!
Very interesting video. I've heard the story a million times but I've never seen the locations or the footage of when he was caught. Great research and presentation im definitely subbing
Probably the most famous house (the one with the first pentagram on the wall) of the victims is on my running route... just a few blocks from where I grew up This happened before I was born, but after seeing the house featured in the Netflix series, it's erie to walk by it
I watched your Onion Murder video last night and was tempted to request either a Richard Ramirez or Edmund Kemper video. I'm not a fan of glorifying serial killers but you guys are really respectful, and it's interesting for someone like me whose never been to America to see where these events occured.
Michael, you are the man I've heard about 3 other bloggers story on the Night stocker, and your story was by far the best you've had me captivated the entire time. Thank you 👍🌟💯⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ramirez is one of the most interesting serial killers. There’s no modus operandi (mo); race, age, sex, etc…. But also in the manner of which he killed; utilizing so many various ways and weapons. And not only being a serial killer, but also a child rapist. So many facets to this kind of evil. Thank you for sharing this crazy piece of history. Hope you two have a wonderful weekend.
It's quite simple. He saw those Polaroid photos of raped and killed vietnamese women as a child. He was raised for things like that to be normal. And he was tutored by this very older cousin, who also shot his wife in front of him, to use and make up weapons and fight. It was as normal to him, as is watching tick tock videos all day is normal to an average child now. Being severely abused since very early age, he never saw love, as most people think of it. Everyone was an enemy to him. There were literally no moral boundaries, cause they never existed. And, as he was on coke all the time, it made him incredibly horny and aggressive (getting to the snort again). Coke simply makes a person think they are very special. Like the king of the day or something. Everything becomes surrealistic. There is a saying: give an ignorant man a drug, and he will become more ignorant.
@@khosmoz I don't think it's quite so simple. Certainly his life events and influences, combined with drugs, contributed to this man's warped mind. However, there are others who have experienced terrible abuse and viewed things they never should have as children, yet few become as evil as this guy. Many people actually overcome their tragic pasts and the abuse and pain stops with them and doesn't proceed into the next generation.
@@kristinab1078 How many people can you name, who have witnessed a one-to-one murder in the same room as children? Can you name at least one other person and tell me this person is a rather normally functioning individual?
Michael & Jessica I absolutely love your dedication to these cases, I’ve seen documentaries about Richard Ramirez, seeing the locations gives me insights into the case that I never knew about before
Micheal and Jessica you guys are so brilliant to watch, your content is incredible, I get so into it. I'm so glad I came across your channel, I literally binge watch your videos whilst working as I work from home, it gets me through my day. Thank you. Love to you both from the UK! 🇬🇧
I was nine, almost ten years old in the summer of 1985 when this happened. I remember people sleeping with baseball bats or knives between their mattress. It was a scary time. There was a murder that happened maybe five miles from where I was living at the time in north Whittier. It was a relief that Richard Ramirez was caught. Years later I got a book about the murders and it was hard to read. Much of what he did rivals horror movies. A really sick individual who deserved the death penalty but died comfortably in a prison hospital.
My friend in middle school went on a weekend trip to visit family. He said they were watching TV and then they heard all of the commotion. They went outside and saw people attacking some guy. Crazy.
New and I LOVE LOVE LOVE your channel! Grew up watching Tales from the Crypt, the X-files, and Beavis & Butthead. Totally appreciate the time you put into the facts and details of each location!❤
Wow! Another amazing video! Thank you, Grimm Life Collective! We lived nowhere even close to LA, but that man scared me! I appreciate all the research that goes into your videos and that you are able to add the news reports.
Wow, I woke up to this video and I thought to myself the guy looks familiar(RUclipsr not the Nightstalker). I ran into you and a lady at universal studios a year or two ago during the Halloween time
Great video as always! I really admire your way of getting into interesting details and being able to spot the places that were crucial to these crime stories. And you guys definitely made me want to see the Netflix documentary. Take care!
Great coverage. I'm always been fascinated with the case. When I stayed in LA I was literally on 8th Street, right around the corner! Crazy to think Ramirez once roamed these streets, resting up in between looking for victims. He is by far the most random killer I've ever heard of.
I like how you show the address sometimes, allowing me and others to be able to track his footsteps and in my case, map Los Angeles out in front of me as a non local to give me a lay out of the land so to speak. Love the Nightmare on Elm Street location at the end there too! Thank you Micheal & Jessica♥️
My dad slept in front room with his gun. Told us not to leave windows open. I was watching Gillians Island. When news interrupted to announce he was caught.
i am 63 and a true crime junkie. i remember the 8 nurses murders by speck. i just turned 5 and listening to the news on this big black radio sitting on the kitchen table, that blows me away! you are such a cute couple with the dream job. thanks, enjoy, time flies by!
Your videos are super interesting and capture the eerie tragedy of crime. I saw the nightstalker too when it debuted. Also the Dominique Dunne episode had a similar feeling. Love the 80s movie locations you do.
Awesome Video!! I lived around that area where he got caught! I wasnt around during the time but my parents lived in the area! must have been scary during those times.
Michael, I was watching you with a few of my other favorite creators. They tease sometimes but that’s because you do such a fantastic job researching, filming, narrating and editing. You are one of the best! Loved the UK videos and happy you both are home! Happy Halloween 🐿
My dad went to high school with the household that had the Mustang. Story was he tried to steal it because the keys were in it.....but the engine wasn't and went on to the next vehicle. Big fans, keep up the good work on the channel. If your ever in Pensacola,FL....stop by and say hi, we have the spot where Bundy was caught and arrested.
Another great video! I like it when you line up the photos with the location as it is now. Your narration is excellent. Ramirez was the first serial killer I learnt about. I remember as a kid, seeing the photo of him in court with the pentagram on his palm, thinking what long fingers he has. I can't imagine the terror felt by the residents of Los Angeles; am glad he got caught and imprisoned. He was truly evil.
I remember reading about that evil person and was worried for all of the people in California. High praise for the men who confronted him and didn't even realize it was the evil person that scared everyone in the area. A whole community getting together to make sure he didn't get away. Michael, I don't blame you at all for not wanting to be on the 1st floor. Thank you for telling about the heroes who stopped him.

Excellent work!! I corresponded with Ramirez for a couple years. No hint of remorse.
These videos are more in-depth and informative than the available books and articles. Awesome work, you guys.
Thank you for an interesting episode. I can't imagine how many hours went into researching old photos and piecing them together to pinpoint these locations. Greetings from South Africa!
You guys need your own tv show! You’re the best!
Growing up in So cal I remember this as kid. So scary. But it was great to see the community come together to stop this horrible person.
Another great video, thank you Michael!
The Netflix Night Stalker doc definitely affected me too. I'm a huge true crime 'fan' but something about that particular doc really hit differently
I appreciate your rationale and not over thinking and filling the genuinemotions of what took place at these places
Well done. I was a teen living near Burbank during the Night Stalker period. I remember all the news reports, and we even lived near one of the victims. I remember watching the news stories of his capture. Crazy stuff. And still would love to see an episode of filming locations for the original Carrie to include my elementary school, Morningside. 😀
Thank You for your deep dive into this. You never disappoint and are very much appreciated !!
Amazing the way you lined everything up and recreated what happened that day. The visual you created was almost like we were there..best job yet!
Thanks Grimmlife, your videos are always fascinating.
Thank you for watching Casey
I love the way youre showing the before and present photos thank u
The level of integrity and respect you show for these sites is refreshing. You make fantastic content and i will watch every video you ever put out.
Thank you for the kind words Eric. And thank you for watching.
Wow, what detail in laying everything out. Outstanding job.
Very interesting video. I've heard the story a million times but I've never seen the locations or the footage of when he was caught. Great research and presentation im definitely subbing
Man, such detailed report. Congratulations, you’re very talented.
Probably the most famous house (the one with the first pentagram on the wall) of the victims is on my running route... just a few blocks from where I grew up
This happened before I was born, but after seeing the house featured in the Netflix series, it's erie to walk by it
Watching from Melbourne, Australia. Great video.
Great video!!! Yall do your homework and are very articulate in your videos (which is very much appreciated)!!!! God bless you and Jess, take care!!!
Another grand slam, great video. Your videos keep me going.
As I remember, RR was being called the "walk-in-killer" back then! Very scary!
I watched your Onion Murder video last night and was tempted to request either a Richard Ramirez or Edmund Kemper video. I'm not a fan of glorifying serial killers but you guys are really respectful, and it's interesting for someone like me whose never been to America to see where these events occured.
Awesome coverage of the 1985 Night Stalker neighborhood capture. Especially the past and now pictures , thank you !
So informative! Your research into these is amazing!
Michael, you are the man I've heard about 3 other bloggers story on the Night stocker, and your story was by far the best you've had me captivated the
entire time.
Thank you for watching and the insight. Have a good weekend and Happy Halloween.
Definition of Pure Evil is Richard Ramirez.
Michael & Jessica I absolutely love your dedication to these cases, I’ve seen documentaries about Richard Ramirez, seeing the locations gives me insights into the case that I never knew about before
Great video Micheal! Very informative! Keep up the good work!👍
Another great video as always. Its crazy no matter where you live you never know whos lurking in the night
Fantastic research and a nice video of this guy. Gives me goosebumps
Great video as usual, this one is a new favorite of mine!
Great video as always! Thanks for the adventure!
Excellent vlog, Michael. Very concise and informative. Thanks for taking us along.-Joe from Joplin MO
Micheal and Jessica you guys are so brilliant to watch, your content is incredible, I get so into it.
I'm so glad I came across your channel, I literally binge watch your videos whilst working as I work from home, it gets me through my day.
Thank you.
Love to you both from the UK! 🇬🇧
The two of you, do the best true crime stories! thanks Michael, and Jessica!
Crazy.
great work as always Michael!
You take us to a parallel world.
We really appreciate your videos here in Germany keep it up ✌🏼
I woke up at 2:30 am. Saw this vid and was instantly hooked
I ran into you and a lady at universal studios a year or two ago during the Halloween time
I remember this story about him! Thank you both!
You guys always seize to amaze me with the history and details that pertain to the locations always !! That’s why your channel is my favorite ☺️
I'm surprised how entertaining i going this video and checking out your other stuff, great work!! Just subbed keep it up
I love this channel so much. You put so much work and passion into your content and it shows.
Thank you. And thank you for watching…Happy Halloween.
When news interrupted to announce he was caught.
love all of your videos. i cant imagine how much work would go into this. great material, thanks.
i am 63 and a true crime junkie. i remember the 8 nurses murders by speck. i just turned 5 and listening to the news on this big black radio sitting on the kitchen table, that blows me away! you are such a cute couple with the dream job. thanks, enjoy, time flies by!
Gotta give the lady that narrates this whole documentary credit. She does a very good job. Thorough information.
I always love your content Grimm.
The amount of time and patience u do to film these crime scene locations and try to get the best accuracy u can I love 🖤
We really try. I really love being immersed in the surroundings.
You do it best! Sensational video
I dance 🕺 to the opening of your channel.
I think your’e channel is amazing👌👌👌
I’m from Scotland and hope you had a great time in our country and are always welcome👍👍
We loved being in Scotland, and we cannot wait to come back. Thank you.
