@@jordanthomas2031 both. The equipment had crappy connectors and sometimes a good solid thump would change your symptoms and show you where a loose card was. Reseat the cards in that drawer and try again. Our instructors taught us about this but told us that we had real bugs in the machines and not to smack them as we were not yet trained service personnel.

While many functions are handled electronically nowadays rather than mechanically, they still contain contacts, cable connections, and device components plugged into one another that can, even with slight misalignment become inoperable and percussive maintenance is valid and safe way to realign components if done properly. This is something that I use daily when working on production machines that run constantly day and night on a production line and gears and contacts move over time and can cause malfunctions. It cases where delicate sensors is not involved it is one of the first methods we use to attempt to correct misalignment to hopefully avoid having to shut machinery down for lengthy amounts of time. I've tried that tactic with my old Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS 7-8 years back (not the throwing/ dropping bit, but the hit/ slapping bit) and usually worked; I even do it now with my Wi-Fi Router, still works. Thanks Rowan for teaching this to the newer generations. 👍
Felt this recently except with my headset mic. It wouldn't work and no setting on my CPU, discord, or anything would get it work properly. Getting frustrated I just threw my mic against the wall, plugged it back in and it worked perfectly, still does to this date. I want to thank Rowan for providing such a comprehensive how-to guide when it comes to fixing electronics.

I imagine when Hamish paid 1500 bucks and went back, the laptop then experiences various kind of glitches and bugs, and then he gotta go back to Playtech and met Rowan again to ask for compensation, only for Rowan to slap that bad boy once more and somehow fixes it again. That will be another 1500 bucks.
