Others just keep it for very short periods, such as when visiting. I don't believe Salah would have risked legal problems by not getting the temporary marriage. He is not a Kuwaiti citizen but rather a Syrian refugee. He does not want to be deported back to Syria or spend time in a Kuwaiti jail.
But what if she’s renting the housing for non-Kuwaitis and he’s not technically living there? How easy would that be to get away with? I suspect he stays elsewhere often.

Living with a food addict is not easy especially when they are critically ill and still overeating and binging. I work in immigration. In the US, if you are consistently staying here on a visitors visa, customs will start to question your intent to stay here temporarily and potentially refuse you entry. I’m not sure if Kuwait takes this approach, but Kuwaiti customs is certainly attentive and strict.

My thoughts run more to the insecurity of healthcare costs. Her health issues have become quite serious. I can imagine that feeling as sick as she has been and living in a strange land with a radically different culture can make you feel panicked and insecure.
She may claim that Kuwait is her home in defence of her decision to return to Scatman, but when it comes to serious situations like failing health, there's no place like home.

I work in immigration. In the US, if you are consistently staying here on a visitors visa, customs will start to question your intent to stay here temporarily and potentially refuse you entry. I’m not sure if Kuwait takes this approach, but Kuwaiti customs is certainly attentive and strict.
