Haha, i have a 2018 with the original battery and it just started giving the warning signs (jump started it 3 times in the past week!) so I am headed to Costco today. this video was exactly what I was looking for.
My original battery just took a shit on me today. No warning thou.

This video was great, but I was able to replace the battery without removing the radiator reservoir. I removed the race coming up from the battery holder and was able to lift and twist it out. Great video guys. Thank you.

From what I discovered, you can remove the battery without loosening or removing the tank if you can manage to roll it onto its side

Great video. Thanks for sharing the process. You are right about needing to remove or at least loosen the coolant tank. Skipping that step and attempting to remove by rolling the battery on it's side ended in my breaking the harness clip to the left of the battery. I then removed the tank and it slips right out.

You can do I just did it today without removing the coolant tank. Take the support bar off and place battery at angle and it come right out.
@@johnunsicker7440 maybe so, however when I tilted the 51 pound battery to clear everything it slipped from my hands and broke a harness clip. I posted to help others avoid the allure of the shortcut and just do it right
Your video was great thanks for the help. One thing I found is you don't have to remove the washer fluid tank. If you have battery free, when lifting twist it 90 degrees to its side and it can come out. It's thinner sideways than tall.

Thanks for the video, It got be through most of it. I was lazy and didn't want to remove the hardware for the water reservoir so I removed the bracket riser with one 13mm bolt and that provided enough room to maneuver the new battery into place.

One of my cars is a turbo Subaru and the battery died a couple weeks ago. I was already a member of AAA so it was a no brainer. $150 later and they arrived at my house... excellent battery and excellent service. Just a thought.

I got the reservoir bottom bolt with a plain open/box end wrench. Just go in from the engine side, below whatever hard lines are right there. My universal joint was too tall, and my wobble socket - also too tall & not enough wobble. Then tied the reservoir up out of the way with a thin rope so it wouldn't keep falling right back down. Thanks!

I also used a wrench I also didn't put that pos back in lol! I will get a swivel from work and put it back in I didn't want to wrench an inch of thread in! That thing is really hard to get to!

Just replaced mine today (original).. I just let the guy at NAPA do it.. Took him awhile too. Used to be much less time-consuming.

Great video. Quick tip for removing the battery. If you rotate it sideways you can remove it without removing the tank.

Which battery do I bring home before I do this? 2018 5.3L. I know, I could take it out look at the label. Put it back in then, drive an hour and a 1/2 to Columbia Falls to get a new battery. But I don't want to do that.

I discovered a way to remove the battery without removing the tough to get to bolt from the coolant container. If you remove the first two plastic screws on the windowsill and one screw from the coolant container, you can get the battery out.

You dont have to take the resivoir out. If you take the middle stabilzer bracket for the support it slides out that way. I just did it not as much work

Is there a security issue when removing the battery. Im having issues with the radio and i unhooked the negative terminal and now it is causing a theft control service issue

The book says to turn off all electronics and remove the keys and keep the doors closed. There’s some residual electricity left in it after you disconnect the negative that you open the door to push down that residual. Charge

I changed out the battery because it was dead and when I installed the new one, the passenger side blinker and windows don’t work the air conditioner won’t blow air and the radio does not turn on. How can I reset the system?
l have been very lucky with my Delco batteries. My 2008 chevy HHR still has the original battery. Last spring l replaced one of the original batteries on my 2009 GMC HD 2500 , 6 LITRE. The other original Delco was replaced for free at 34 months of the warranty, the mechanic left me a note to start driving the truck more as it had only 7 thousand miles on it. Going to Costco tomorrow to buy two new batteries for my 2001 Duramax hd 2500, they have been in use since NOV. 2015 and are interstate batt. from Costco. l can swap both batteries in my HD Trucks in less time than that 2018 Chev. what a mess.

You definitely don’t have to take off the reservoir. Just need to take apart the cross bar and the piece that stubs up

Nothing was said about losing the codes when removing the battery. I had to have 4 codes put back in because some idiot didn't know about losing the codes with the loss of power while disconnected. I paid $400 to get the codes put back in at a dealership.

That’s really too much bs to deal with. Where I live stuff only starts breaking when the temperature hits 30 degrees. You absolutely should not have to spend 30 min taking out a damn battery. If I had to go through that in a snow storm I’ll be absolutely pissed. Poor design by gm thats really disappointing. Battery should be by itself and kept simple

Had a tundra before my silverado. 2008 and the frame had three rust holes. Think I'll take this "difficult" battery swap. Toyota fan boys are a weird breed man
I like how you glossed over using the swivel socket adapter to get the front bolt out of the reservoir. This is literally the stupidest placement of a supposedly serviceable part I have ever seen.

@@Myksgaragethought I would mention that if you rotate the battery to the left onto its side, you can slide it out right over the resovior. (Barely fits). I removed my 2018s original ac Delco this way. Just figured I'd mention, if you hadn't tied yourself may save you some time next battery.

Yea, I just replaced mine without removing the reservoir. Turn the battery on its side, stand it up and pull it out. Reverse process to reinstall. Thanks for the video very helpful.
