Not only one of the best to come threw FSU but in College football period. My homeboy been a savage since lil league, and was good at baseball.Bo,you paved a way for short outside linebackers in the NFL,I salute you homie
I'm not a fan of Florida State, nor am I a Buccaneers fan. However, Derrick Brooks is one of my favorite players ever. The intensity he played with, coupled with his physical gifts was just amazing. And best of all, he was and continues to be a great guy off the field.
Lineman strength, Linebacker power and Safety speed. He was a finisher, no extra grass. Total package. Best we ever had!!! NFL HOF first ballot. HOF Buccaneer too!
When my pa moved to boring East Carolina in 88 all we had was the Atlantic Coast Conference! I fell in love with football because of the North Carolina-Duke rivalry and that was when Steve Spurrier was coaching in the late 80s and when Mack Brown was trying to turn the tarheel program around in the late 80's! Clemson was dominating the conference! This conference has no national credibility and that was what FSU brought in the 90's and Brooks was a huge part of that! He was the best player in 92
Apparently he tore the defense a new one in the ACCCG. At halftime he told them to get their head's out of their asses, stop trying to blow people up, just wrap them up and make the tackle.
As someone stated they can still wear the numbers, there is a process to get it though. Might have to get permission from the said player it was retired for, and Brooks isn't so arrogant to think nobody else deserves to wear it.
You guys are right. I had the honor (or misfortune) of getting to strap up against Bo every day. Out of the maybe 150 times I went against him, I might have won 3 times. I think he was sick that week. Look in the dictionary under "stand up guy" you'll see a picture of "Bo".
They usually let the player that is currently wearing the # finish his career with it. Same thing happen when they retired Deion's #2 but they allowed Clifton Abraham to continue wearing it. He was the last to wear #2.
Well tell him to look at the CLEAN hit Nigel Bradham put on Bryd ( the Miami receiver ), and then got ejected for the hit. Like I said, real football isn't played anymore!
One of the best FBS and NFL LB's of all time
The best tackler I have ever seen.
5 letters, 1 word: BEAST!!!!!!!!!!! Who's my favorite player? Mr. Derrick Brooks...
Oh my! So many great memories of that '93 defense.

Best Ever
Instinct- you can't buy it or sell it. Brooks was the most instinctive player ever to play the game.
FSU legend and NFL Hall of Famer.
Best college linebacker ever.

He was the beast.
Pure beast
I will never forget him on the field
This brings me back to the good old days when FSU, Florida, and Miami were relevant.
Mr. Derrick Brooks was great.
When my pa moved to boring East Carolina in 88 all we had was the Atlantic Coast Conference! Derrick Brooks is an NFL First Ballot Hall of Famer!
proof that size is not everything. skill and determination are what matter.

I miss this type of aggression
Came as a boy, left as THE mutha fuckin man!

Just Awesome
Dude was a beast. I was trying to find the story about the legendary hit in practice.
@pisgah782 was a student at FSU with DB, one of the nicest people you could ever meet off the field.
0:38 - 0:43 --That is so scary! Go Noles! AAAAHHH!!! I want us to get back to these dayz!!!
This is the footage they played on the Scoreboard during his jersey retirement during the Clemson game. Thank you Derric Brooks.
Good old days 💪
I miss the days when the Florida teams used to be National powerhouses. Best rivalries ever since the kids knew each other from high school
Amazing video!
@Bball05k This is the video they used when they were retiring his jersey at FSU.

Pensacola Booker T. Washington?

BEAST MODE! Go Noles!
1:47 DEMOLISHED the FB then the TB
Chills @ 1:43
@bcbayz If this is true, Clay has alot of accolades and a long career in order to prove it to be so. Best of luck to him!
Samari Rolle was the last to wear number 2
Well tell him to look at the CLEAN hit Nigel Bradham put on Bryd ( the Miami receiver ), and then got ejected for the hit. Like I said, real football isn't played anymore!
Was he a 4.25 guy
Song that starts at 1:38?

The man .. The Legend!!!
@bcbayz clay mathhews is good and all BUT he is NO Derrick Brooks. Although the league did fine him for his biceps giving QB's nightmares!
Really were is it? Because when I played, you could you know, hit the fucking QB and not worry about oh you hit him too hard!!!
Yea but now you can wear retired numbers again as long as the retiree ok's it...
@bcbayz Ugh, I wouldn't call him your bro then. That's just embarrassing .
My bro thinks clay mathews is better than derrick Brooks!
🤣🤣🤣 on what blitzing the QB, nothing else!
@@musclebone7875 Not even that. If Brooks was a blitzing OLB, he would've led the NFL in sacks every season.
@@jerrylewis788 well I'm glad that Monte Kiffen didn't just use Brooks just for blitzing the QB because he was the best LB ever in coverage. 💯
