Dick Clark Was ONE CLASSY MAN....That was no act. He loved all the performers on bandstand. He saw no color lines. Rest In Peace.

Well, he did have a slight issue with Prince. Or maybe it was the other way around, cause Prince didn't like the idea of DC commenting on how their brand of performing was incredible by way of their locale ("I can't believe this stuff like this comes out of Minneapolis") Rubbed the Purple One the wrong way, in gray fashion.

Dick Clark was such an incredibly polite person. He was a relic of a bygone age, an age when people treated other people with utter respect. You will never find anyone with such impeccable manners today.

Facts!!
Lots of comments about their hair. Well....their Afros were things of legend. There was even an article in "Right On" magazine about their hair and how they achieved the fullness..

I'm watching Unsung right now, and all I can think is that Foster, the baby of the family, literally looks the baby version of Michael. I know someone else had to see it when they were watching it too. It's spooky but I like it!!

I love Dick Clark!!! He was like the best interviewer. So sweet and kind. Each time he spoke with The Sylvers it was as if it was the first time.
Oh wow I just love the way Angie answered Dick's Question of how long it would take to learn the choreagraphy she had so much class and charasmatic.

THAT WAS JAMES WITH SOUTHERN DRAWL ...YESSSS
Leon & James looked alike, Ricky & Edmond looked alike, Olympia & Patricia and Charmaine & Angie. Foster looked a little like all of them, especially the girls. Their youngest brother, Chirstopher who wasn't in the group, looked just like Olympia's son (like twins).
If you watch that episode of You Bet Your Life with their parents and 6 of the children, you can see Patricia looked the most like their mother when their mother was younger. It's an uncanny resemblence. That episode had Olympia, Leon Jr, James, Charmaine, Edmund & Ricky. They were so well behaved & Ms. Shirley was pregnant with Angie. Like Groucho Marx said, "lovely family"!
Biggest "fros" in the biz, the fellas kept it braided, till photo shoot time or the stage!

I was a little girl in the 1970s and I loved the Afros. I wear my hair in a medium size Fro now in 2018. I miss the 1970s Decade that time was definitely a unique time that we would never see again.

@JASON HAYWARD, this is so true. The SHOWCASE album is the only one where all members were present. The next album was the Something Special album and Olympia was there but Charmaine was not. I think this was the last album Olympia appears on. Charmaine returned for another album but soon it just Angie and Pat.

Those guys got some monster afros including Foster, but I say it's a tie between Ricky and Edmund because both of them look the same! Plus I wanted to see what Leon's 2-year old daughter look like after I heard her crying in the background, I think maybe she was camera shy or being in the spotlight!

Yes I concur like most others in here that The Sylvers deserve more recognition for their musical and artistic talents than they received during the 70s but unfortunately they were performing during the same era as The Jacksons and they (Jacksons) got most of the glory and accolades.

From what I see is that the silvers had proper upbringing. They were taught by 2 good parents who showed them not to be overinflated by their talent. I wonder were they are now.too bad they never got the backing of the jacksons.
They were taught mostly by a great mother. Their father left her with 10 kids when they were all pretty young.
