Guido, fantastic to see you back again, you've been missed and to hear your candid, frank, honest words from the heart in your reviews is unmatched, your review on the original 991.1 GTS was the reason when I was making a decision to buy two one, PDK GTS and one C4S manual an now you confirm again why I love them so much and made the right decision. The sound and driving experience of the normally aspirated Porsche can never be duplicated,
Good to see you back!!! Beautiful, insightful review. You must know we all want to see the gt3 review with english subtitles. Say, tell us more about your new job please. Thanks!!
Though I disagree with your assessment of the new 991.2, it was still another wonderful video. I’ve owned my manual transmission, 2018 Porsche 911 Carrera since 08/24, use it as my daily driver, and think it is an exciting car to drive, particularly in 3rd & 4th gear. This is my fourth Porsche with the most recent past model being a normally aspirated, manual, 2016, 2.7 Cayman. The amount of get up and go due to the extra torque makes up for any excitement lost from the previous 911. Keep up the great work with your videos and have a very Merry Christmas.
First comment in over 4 years: PLEASE POST MORE ENGLISH REVIEWS HERE! You are the best. A clear enthusiast, with good comments, and opinions. I miss you!
Welcome back...........I've got "your" car over here in Canada and I'm loving it. A 2016 991.1 GTS manual. With reviews like this it should make it a collector car in no time! lol, thanks.
Great to have you back! It is so refreshing to have someone voice exactly what we are thinking! Keep it up and please do videos even with the GT3 touring or 911R!
Another request for subtitles here Guido! I bought a Golf R after watching your review (and some others). So much cooler than our UK ‘RUclipsrs’ and now a fully fledged journalist to boot. Congrats, dude.
Great video with thoughtful commentary on the 911 3.0 turbocharged engine. Thanks for posting it. I’ve got a manual GT3 coming in January and would appreciate it if you could add English subtitles to your Autobild review of the GT3. Thanks and I look forward to your next video.
Great to see you back Guido! I haven't driven the 991.2 but if I were to buy a 911 it would be the GT3 Touring with the screaming naturally aspirated engine. I hope to see you post more videos on this channel in 2018! Happy Holidays!
Thank you for the honest review! I just got a 911 Carrera GTS, 2016 the other day and that engine is FIRE! I heard mixed reviews about the more friendlier greener environment twin turbo model and stayed away from that. Glad I did after this review!
Great news! I echo all the "welcome back!" comments. You were sorely missed. This is a great Christmas gift! Many of us apologize for not understanding or sepaking German. Therefore, subtitles for the AUTO BILD GT3 review would be much appreciated!! Great to have you back.
Welcome back! You asked for comments: Drove the 911.2 GTS at the press launch in South Africa, including some track work. A fantastic product when it comes to all measurable data. Chassis setup beyond sweet. It actually felt no slower than a 991.1 GT3 on the track, and easier to drive really fast due to the torqier engine. However, you just cannot help missing the thrill of the naturally aspirated engines. The new one may be signficantly faster, but lacks in immidiacy of response, sound, does not really reward being revved out, etc. For me, emotion is much more important than outright pace, so I would choose a used GTS or Carrera S with the naturally aspirated 3.8 engine any day. I also generally believe sports car manufacturers now have to downplay the importance of speed and focus on fun: That means skinnier tyres, smaller engines, lower weight. Make the cars feel dramatic at speeds that will not put you in jail! Very curious about what Renaultsport has created with the Alpine A110 (although it is also turbocharged).
A great honest review! Funny you say you can always get a new GT3 with a manual - its pretty well impossible here in North America unless you like financial pain. Here in Vancouver, the local dealerships play secret shell games with the waiting lists (depending on money and god knows what else), and obtaining an allocation can be at least $40K over MSRP assuming you can find/bribe someone to take their spot. The dealerships and how they do business are by far my biggest peeve with Porsche. Fantastic cars (especially the new GT3) but unobtainium for most enthusiasts.
Wie immer: Top in der Beschreibung der Fahreindrücke bei Beschränkung auf die wirklich wesentlichen Dinge. Großes Lob für die „ unbequeme „ Kritk bez. Motor und Schaltgefühl.
Love the style of your review - a really nice blend of objective fact with subjective emotion and feel. I've only ever driven a 2009 911 CS at Silverstone; never driven any variant on the road, but they were a bedroom poster car as a boy, and now a garage poster as a dad! The 2018 GTS looks wonderful. That colour too - love it, love it, love it.. I'm sure many of us will only ever dream of a daily driver as special as this. I have a dream..!
wow man .. i clicked the link in the "Subscriptions" feed and I started to hear a familiar voice ... what a surprise !!! WELCOME BACK Guido !!!! really really welcome back and don't stop !! Some of us really missed your auto-insights and your english accent !!! Hope to see a new post soon !!!!
and please push for english subs for Autobild's videos .. .they are loosing huge amounts of views !!! and congrats on the new job !!! 100% auto journalist now !
Thank you for the honest review. First person to actually say in detail that yes at daily driving speeds there is a little more lag than the S, and noticeable relative to the NA earlier generations I was getting tired of everyone saying “it’s just as responsive as an NA older version”, but technically cannot be true
WELCOME BACK! I hope to see more videos from you soon! As for the GTS, you keep pointing out all the things that make it less exciting than a GT3. Isn’t it supposed to be that way? That’s why the GT3 exists: it’s hardcore and makes purists happy. The GTS is super capable and more daily-drivable.
Tuddec Well you have a point, but as a daily a 4S or S works better. I guess the GTS isnt a bad car at all but emotionally and sound-wise it doesnt kick me😊
This channel must live! The quality of the evaluations and the sincerity as you put your appreciations, are an added value. Don't step up, come forward!
Hi G! Welcome back. Where would you put your money? 991.1 GTS or 991.2 GTS? I understand how they do withing their lineups but I’m not clear on your perspective on how those two compare to each other. Thanks!
Long time no see Sir. Carrera treatment does soften the 911 I'd say, which could be the one I'd choose though for that reason, perhaps my aches and pains as I near 50 are the fundamental answer for that?! Fingers crossed for more videos. Camera definition is superb by the way for RUclips.
Ditto re good to see you back. I agree re sound. I love driving my NA e90 M3 and e46 M3. It's the noise that creates the passion / the desire to just go for a drive thru the twisties in the hills.
Great to see Guido back. Great journalism and photography and always welcome the English content. Like myself you are always looking for that connection and feel from a car, the larger turbos just seem to take away from the sharpness. Very effective at full throttle / high rpm moments but is that truly how this car would be driven for 95% of its life- Very much looking forward to your English language review if the ‘lesser’ Carerra T think the agility and smaller turbos will be more to our tastes. Thanks for the content.
welcome back Guido!!! you sound like the gts is not for you. but maybe this is what they are trying to do from a marketing perspective, move the product to a wider market. the car looks great and sounds great. i have not driven any new 911s. i hope to soon.
BRAVO!!! Finally, an honest review of the 991.2 twin turbo engines! They suck. I knew it. I was getting tired of all the biased reviewers saying there’s “no lag”, which we know is impossible and a lie. I also HATE the exhaust note. It’s either a Turbo or GT3 for me.
Welcome back, great and honest review as always. All points very well made but I would want to use it daily and a quieter cabin helps after a long day in the office and you just want to get home in style and refinement. As a weekend blaster, natural aspirated always wins though
The man is back! So great to see a new review from you! Any chance of seeing you in the new GT3 w/ Touring pkg next year?? Looks like an amazing car. Thanks Guido, fantastic review!
Welcome back - sounds like you need to get back in a GT3 quickly after what comes across as a semi-castrated GTS! Perhaps the 991.1 GTS will become a future classic as last of the great Carrera naturally aspirated non GT cars.
great to see another video from you and hello from the states! i've heard that as far as the new 911's go (aside from the gt3) the best engine is the standard carrera engine. i feel like with smaller turbos you would get more response out of it.
Finally, a reviewer who tells the truth about the poor sound. In my opinion, the base sounds the best and the most like a naturally aspirated engine probably the turbos are smaller. But you are absolutely correct, the entire range sounds nothing like it's former self.
Hey Guido, great you're back. I like the new 3.0 litre 991s, and they pick up speed surprisingly quickly from low revs, but at the top end, not so much character or excitement. And there's no way I'm going to trade my 50 Anni for one. BTW very good to see a GTS on polished centre locks, much better than the black IMHO.
Welcome back Guido after too long, As usual enjoyed your straight petrol-head review. Unless your magazine stops you doing videos let's have some more.
Guido, Thanks for confirming my thoughts as well comparing the 991.1 against the 991.2, especially now with the price difference of approximately 30% depreciation how can I not buy the 991.1 This will be my first Porsche after waiting 30 years, I am sure I'm making the right decision Thank you and Keep up the great reviews
Respekt für die ehrlichen Worte. Ist keine Selbstverständlichkeit das Auto-Journalisten so offen ihre Meinung kundtun.

Glad to see a new video, feels like it has been forever! Now lets see that GT3 vid!
Thank you for the honest review! I just got a 911 Carrera GTS, 2016 the other day and that engine is FIRE! I heard mixed reviews about the more friendlier greener environment twin turbo model and stayed away from that. Glad I did after this review!
You are very welcome! I love the 991.1 GTS so much. Maybe you missed it, but I reviewed that one too and very much enjoyed it :D - Guido

Love your reviews. Interesting - first person to not go wild about 991.2 gts
There is just something special about your videos Guido. I missed your content, very glad to see you back

Congrats for the job in Auto Build! That’s why it has been long time since we don’t see new videos in this channel.

Great to see you back! It’s worrying Porsche didn’t get the Carrera quite right, let’s hope with the 992 they return to form.
Welcome back and a Merry Christmas gift to all your fans from you. Thanks for your return. I guess I can tear up the ransom check. Thanks!
Delighted to see a new video from you. Hope more are on the way soon.
Thanks for watching!
Great to see. you are back. Hope that you have a good forward plan for your followers in UK

good to have you back, I have the same car and love it, could do with a bit more internal sound but the torque is amazing

Great review - honesty about engines being constrained because of their place in the 911 range.
In part due to your videos, I am a gt4 owner and I completely agree with you. I had a 911.2 gts for a day this summer from the Porsche museum.
Thank you for the honest review. First person to actually say in detail that yes at daily driving speeds there is a little more lag than the S, and noticeable relative to the NA earlier generations
I was getting tired of everyone saying “it’s just as responsive as an NA older version”, but technically cannot be true

keep uploading time to time here on this channel as well. Good content, always enjoy it.
Awesome, you're back! The 991.1 gts is defiently going to be the 911 to have in 5-10 years. NA for the win! I love the camera angle by the way.

PLEASE put subtitles on your GT3 video!
Joe Tacchino Done!
Welcome back, great and honest review as always. All points very well made but I would want to use it daily and a quieter cabin helps after a long day in the office and you just want to get home in style and refinement. As a weekend blaster, natural aspirated always wins though
Alan Booth Thanks for your feedback Alan!
WOW.. its been ages. Glad to see you're back. We have missed you man! Let meet up in Europe this year. Geneva?
Ja, ist denn schon Weihnachten?! A new video. The first xmas present for me this year. Welcome back and thx a lot for the video.
Hans-Peter Gerlach Frohe Weihnachten:)
Good to see you back. Great honest review. Surprised that you are less enthused about the .2 GTS. But a good reference. Hope to see more from you.
