It’s hard to be politically engaged with such self righteous, narrow minded people. I am 70 years old and have lived all over the country. I have never lived in a place before where I have actually been told “You don’t agree with us so you should move.” And this was from a gaggle of matrons holding signs about how much they love their neighbors. What a joke. I was also told at the Metro station that I should move because I suggested the no smoking ordinance should be enforced. This was from another gray haired old bat. I can understand when I hear some of the cops say you couldn’t pay them to live here.

Takoma Park is definitely a unique place in the area and I agree, it's not for everyone. But then, most areas don't have a wide appeal to many different people which is why it's so great that we can all find our place in the world. If you're looking for a place to move, let me know! I'd be happy to help! I'll definitely cross Takoma Park off the list though for you!

@@wealthrescuerThank you so much for your very thoughtful response. I’ve waited to respond because I wanted to consider my reply. I live in TP because I have a nice apartment that really suits my needs, has an incredible view over DC-I can see the Washington Monument from my easy chair-and the rent is subsidized. And I’m close to the metro which gets me quickly to the things I care about. I’m sitting pretty. (And I should mention our exercise room which allows me to keep trim without going out in the cold in winter and out in the humid heat in summer.)
As for the local harridans, they’re really just frustrated bullies and not very bright at that. Someone should tell them that when they try to shun somebody they should be sure to try it on someone who wanted anything to do with them in the first place. But there’s real satisfaction in standing up to bullies even if they aren’t the brightest bulbs.
Again, thank you for kindness. I’m sure you’re a really good realtor.
