Thank you SO much. I researched where 1999 E36 was leaking. If I took it to a mechanic, they probably would have said I need a new radiator. I am not a mechanic, but I know enough to follow your instructions. My expansion tank is leaking.

Just did mine in about an hour. Always bleed it nose up towards a hill, heat full on till it gets to temp. Go for a drive. Check the level when its cool. Used two hose clamps to stem most of the flow when disconnecting the lower pipes.

replaced my thermostat on an e36. Think I didn't tighten the hose well on the expansion tank as I couldn't remove fan shroud. I see I didn't unclip that bottom hose that runs under the shroud. Thanks again
Helpful video! No reason to remove the shroud for the purpose of accessing the right hose end because the left tank end of the hose must be removed replace the tank.

On some E39's the expansion tank is on the other side of the radiator and built-in so removals not possible. Thank you for the video.

hey i need to replace my map cooling thermostat control thing because im getting a DTC CODE P1620 so my question is do i have to drain all the coolent first before takeing out the fan and all the other things to get to it? and do i have to put anything on the new one so it seals right or can i just put the new one on with out putting anything on the new seal? or if its best to make a video on this how to that would be awesome xD

I had to replace the fan shroud and expansion tank on my 2000 528i. I purchased both from Rock Auto but the tank does not fit into the shroud properly and the tank support clip doesn't fit the new expansion tank. Do you have any suggestions. Thank you

Hey, I have a cadillac catera 1997 with 80,000 miles v6 3.0 liter engine (German made Opel) and it has a lot of overheating problems. I change the temperature sensors,thermostat,Coolant, gave it a tune up,but it still overheats and the temperature gauge passes the middle and hits 3 quarts. Also, the two water auxiliary pumps don't work. I've tried everything took it to some mechanics but they couldn't figure out the problem. I was wondering if you could help me, please and thank u!

Hi I have same problem on my bmw e39 the crack was on top of expansion tank, I got the part from gsf car parts part number 174BM0120 it should help
Watched the video AFTER I broke the tank at the round cross-looking thing where the little hose connects. Hoping that a screw, a washer and some JB Weld will fix the mess.

whenever i fill in water into the coolant reservoir, is it suppose to never be full ?? because once full, after few minutes the water is gone....or is it because there's a leakage to my coolant's hose ??

You for your reply , I called the mechanic and he said , that it wasn't the head gasket , I asked him then what is the problem , he said that he couldn't find any leaks and it could be a small crack in the bottom of the engine , and it leaks so to make sure I add coolant and check it everyday , i spent 3800 $ for the head gasket , the radiator , the engine block repaired from the machine shop , I rebuilt the transmission for 3600$ , I like the car and I wanted to do the right by restoring it but now I feel like I be done

Hi , my mechanic repaired the head gasket and the cooling system , but when i m drive the temperature gauge goes to the red , and I opened the coolant reservoir and there were some oil residues inside , does it mean there's an issue with the head gasket again! ?

Fill it up and believe the air out of the system. Or you will have random overheating problem
