I have had two E36s and they both had cracked resevoirs within the first year. I just upgraded to a Mishimoto aluminum tank. The extra cost is just the cost of another plastic one, plus the Mishimoto has a life time guarantee. I did my radiator as well.

Do you know why your expansion tank is left from the radiator? Mine is too, but it seems like it's almost impossible to find this. I have an US imported e36 but I live in EU
hi. I bought an aftermarket radiator for my E36 328i. The coolant level sensor does not plug into the resrvouir directly but through another plastic ''piece''. I can't find the stock LEVEL SENSOR through the hole !! Have you come across something like that?
Honestly the tank I previously was purchased FROM THE DEALERSHIP and it still cracked after three months. Behr is the OEM if I recall, and it is good quality, it can just be hit or miss sometimes with these expansion tanks.
