  • Come along for the ride as I share in the excitement and the unknown. An amazing closet guitar pulled and put on Craigslist in a small town. If you want to find rare guitars and get good deals, sometimes you have to look where no one is looking. This one has a cool story and was a great experience talking with the owner before buying it.

    I have a 55 and I love it, they’re real nice, guitar history, fun to play and real cool for blues.

    A ES-125 was my first guitar, this looks to be it's twin.

    I had a 1960 ES125TDC. It was my first archtop. I'm still kicking myself for selling it.

    I have an uncle who is in his 70's that had a 1954 ES-125 he bought in 1971 I believe. He told me he wanted to sell it. I asked him how much. He said he wanted his $300.00 back that he paid for it. I got to his house before he had a chance to change his mind:-)

      I inherited one earlier this year, it was my great great grandfathers, a 1953 I believe. It sat in a series of closets for a quarter of a century before I caught wind of its existence finally and took it in for a repair. Neck has some issues, probably needs a new fretboard

      I sold it not too long after I recorded this. Not a fan of selling old guitars like this online. I had a guy that was super picky and returned it and I ended up selling it to another guy. Both had a million questions.

    Usually the pickguard will be crumbly.
    Yes, you can replace the buttons.

      Good to know. I will look into those. This pickguard is solid and in great shape!

    Those kind of guitars are getting harder to find, and increasing in value quickly, even though they were beginner instruments at the time. The Les Paul Junior and ES-125 were both single pickup beginner's guitars, and have a wonderful sound that is unique to them. I'd like to find a 1955 ES-125 that being my birthy, although I'd likely prefer the neck and frets on a 1959 version? One guy clamped a quality mid on the tailpiece and bent it under the strings near the center of the bridge, then blended the mic with the pickup coming through an amp and microphone, the tone he got was the Gods!

      Hopefully you can find a ‘53. My dad is a ‘54 model. This was a rare find as you know. Thanks for watching!

    @howardskinner4916 Год назад +1

    I recently got a '54 ES-125 with an SKB case. The case fits snugly. It does not have a model number on it. Mine is very similar to yours, but yours is a bit cleaner.

    • @briansuniqueguitars
      @briansuniqueguitars  Год назад +1

      I hope the new owner of this one bought a new case. The original case we cool, but thats about it. It was crumbling apart and did not offer much protection. Thanks for watching!

    85% is what he agreed to. Can you please tell me how much that is? I am seriously in the market for one. My dad had one when I was about 6 years old. I have a pic of him next to me on the couch in 1973 and I turned out to be a guitar player as well. I know I wont find one as original and pretty as yours, thats why I am curious what you paid.

      I sold it for around $1800, but I paid around 2/3 of that.

    ......I can appreciate that the guitar has a historical value but it sounds like any cheap $200 guitar .....in many ways you are perpetuating a hoax

    • @briansuniqueguitars
      @briansuniqueguitars  4 года назад +3

      Not sure what the hoax is? The point of the video is two fold. 1. To share in the experience of finding an old rare guitar for a good deal, and 2. To give a demo of this model of guitar and let you be the judge. The guitar has value as an antique no matter how it sounds, thanks for watching. Sounds like you learned of guitar you would not buy.
