Brian’s Unique Guitars
США
Добавлен 28 апр 2018
I started this channel because me as a buyer and collector could not find videos of people playing a guitar I was interested in at the moment. So, I decided to start documenting different guitars and gear I come across. Specializing in guitars made in Japan and Korea in the 70s-90s, but also describing anything guitar related that is unique or rare. In most videos where there is an option to play the instrument, I will try to give a flavor of the sound while improving. Everything I play is made up on the spot, nothing rehearsed. Just raw and real. I hope you enjoy. I have also started documenting guitar hunting and picking experiences I encounter. My plan is to increase the quality of the production as I go along, so click subscribe and come along for the ride.

1975 Alvarez 5022
Made in Japan with a 9-11-75 stamp inside. So, likely imported into the US on Nov 9, 1975. I purchased this around 2017 and was my first Alvarez purchased that sparked my interest. #vintageguitar #alvarezguitars #madeinjapan #alvarez #acousticguitar

I had a lot of positive feedback from the first episode of the Pawn Shop Picking Tour that I made a volume 2. Lots of cool shops, a few duds, but nice people all along the way!

This acoustic guitar was previously owned by the drummer from The Call, Scott Musick. It is mostly likely a late 70’s model, made in Japan.

Should You Buy a Guitar with a Large Ding? Two Yamaha FG-340’s
Tune up please...the 1st and 2nd string need tweeking.
We have a pawn shop right next to an airforce base. Back in the 80's they usually had a better used section than most music stores. Now its just crap. Number 7 is the biggest pawn shop ive ever seen!😮 You are a true Peavey man i see...
Wondering if anyone knows how wide the neck is? I found one of these I'm hoping to buy, but have tiny hands lol
Just came across your video. Where do you live that has all these pawn shops!?
Dude you passed by a gem and you didn't even take it out the case. when you lifted the case I saw Larrivee on the head stock. They are handmade guitars that are incredible. if you could have walk out of there with that guitar under 1500 dollars, that would have been a steal. Used they go for 5,000 and up
I’ll go back and look. What was the time in the video? I’m familiar with those, but might have missed it.
My wife's friend use to play guitar with his sister and years back when she past he quit playing He told her his old room mate took his good guitar and left him a cheep one I told her i would fix it up if he wanted to play again She brought it home and it was a very dirty 5043 3 pc back rose and mahogany A few days later i cleaned it up set the action Its really nice and plays even nicer He has not come by yet to pick it up i cany wait to show him his cheep guitar
I don't think you're legally allowed to operate a pawn shop that has music gear if you don't have some Peavey amps.
Didn't realize they made a sigma version of these.
Woodson was made by the same people that made "Kustom" amps I believe. Or closely related that maker.
I was about to say that MIJ Squier would have been a good buy but then you immediately said you got it as I was typing. : )
You can always expect a decent to great sounding laminated or solid wood MIJ made in a Japan acoustic guitars from the 1970s era
Nice sounding, solid state guitar amp tone
Last pawn shop, all I wanted to see was the white flying v that got no attention 😢
That 1985 squier is worth a few bucks
I've never seen a good deal at a pawn shop.
PV amps were probably 3040 years old. I don’t mess with squires PV amps ,don’t sound good unless you really turn them up loud. They have pretty good PA systems ..go with Marshall tube amps.don’t get no solid state junk. Gibson and get a real fender USA.😊
Pawnshops always want 300% markup. I never buy anything from pawnshops.😊
5 seconds in...$230
I bought case and guitar in 1981 for $275..worked all fall to buy it. I was 14 years old 😢
I have the Martin x series guitar and the factory strings suck.I put bronze strings on and now the sound is awesome
I like phosphorus bronze as a general string that sounds good on most acoustics.
The old insincere "Not sure if I wanna sell it or not" pitch. Very sleazy.
Not a pitch. Made the video when I first got it and with most guitars I come across, it takes a little time to let it go. I picked up an old amp the other day with the only intention to sell it for more, but after playing it, I don’t want to let it go.
I haven't found a good deal at a pawn shop in 10 years
That’s what makes the hunt even more of a challenge now. Hopefully I can give that experience in a shorter period for people to enjoy.
Thank you! Did it feel lighter and more responsive than CY140 if you’ve ever played the 140? Or compared to your Cordoba (what model C ?) does it feel really light. I like and want light :)
What à Pity ! ... Instruments are for Players, not Dollars Hangers 🤢
Not sure what a dollars hanger is, but this guitar was recorded for many players to appreciate and now it is in the hands of a new owner and hopefully he is getting to play it. Thanks for watching.
How much?
I have one with cherry sides never seen one before
I’m selling this one right now on reverb.
A ES-125 was my first guitar, this looks to be it's twin.
Geez man that thing is mint. How's it look now 5 years later?
I sold it not too long after I recorded this. Not a fan of selling old guitars like this online. I had a guy that was super picky and returned it and I ended up selling it to another guy. Both had a million questions.
@@briansuniqueguitars yea that makes it not worth selling sometimes.
aside from a few small things that are large. all the guitars are the same. dont spend tons of money on guitars when you can get the same things for less.
looks amazing
Cool. I had the same model given to me around 1976. It has some bowing at the bridge, and finger boards are dished out, but still sounds good, except I have to use lighter strings now. The serial number is 444. I can't find anything yet to determine the year it was made. I see nothing on the label. I have a new Alverez electric/ acoustic coming tomorrow! Almost black Madagascar ebony back and sides.😊
Sometimes you see dates in the labels, sometimes you don’t. I find them 90% of the time but sometimes they are very faded.
@@briansuniqueguitars Thanks, I'll get out a flashlight and my readers!
So glad to see the old school style of RUclips video! No BS just a guy filming! I hate modern RUclips where they act like They are a famous actor in a movie or TV show!
Appreciate your feedback and appreciation for what I’m doing. I’m trying to show the gear, not me! Maybe one day people will want to hear me sit around and talk but that’s not what i am going for right now.
In the Uk we don’t have many pawn shops so I’m jealous that you have so many, ones we do have though are mainly similar quality stuff, peavey/westfield/squire and the occasional Ibanez or fender
Maybe you have less poor areas. I find most pawn shops are in the bad part of the city or in small towns where people still use them for credit and loans versus a bank.
@@briansuniqueguitarstrue, normally they are in lower income areas along with loads of gambling shops. But still they aren’t as common as in the states, most people get ripped off at those types of places so prefer to sell stuff privately on Facebook or we have a lot of car boot/garage sales over in Scotland
Boy she sounds great ! Thanks for a really good review I am looking at buying one. Some say it is a jumbo ? Thanks again
Is a pawn shop really a pawn shop without old shitty music gear?
The Ibanez 698 Concord 12 strings, the sound of the 12 strings of the 70's ! (Except the 12 strings Guild wich have a very different sound).
Plug some of this junk in and you would probably set fire to your house!
I have that identical guitar :)
I used to be able to find killer deals at pawn shops, but not anymore. Now all I see is overpriced garbage. Its amazing how every pawn shop, no matter what state, looks exactly the same and has exactly the same stuff
Doug Storey and the Tokin' Cowboys, just played at the Cactus Club 6/22
The 'big sh*t' comes in first!
Brian you don't give the acoustic guitars much time . I noticed that there was a Chief Tacoma hanging on the wall I think .
I just bought a 1971. It sounds good!
I had both preferred the boosta grande. I guess it depends in what you need. If your amps or a guitar are very bright sounding , putting that pedal in your chain as an always on effect with a slight boost would warm things up a bit
Ooooh la la! ❤❤❤
At 17:58 and so far only the Martin backpacker was even remotely interesting. If it wasn't for Peavey, pawn shops wouldn't have any amps at all just about. Years ago I got an ADA MP1 pre amp for 50.00. it needed a little work but it was solid.
Looking at a Vintage Alvarez 1980s DY54 Yairi Acoustic Guitar. Do you know or recommend that model? $600 thanks
Bought my first Taylor last week it was given to a girl who never played who gave it to a guy who needed money and I got a pristine 214ce sb dlx for $450 problem is I never resale may have to start soon
Huge fan of vintage Alvarez and Yaris hard to come by though bought a pristine dy 91 years ago but it rarely gets played it's more art than guitar really
I have the tiny cube and this one. They are still working.
