@IvanDjuric300 that's it man and I know your mentioning about 10kg in 2 or 2 yes but I started watching about 4 yes ago in 2020 and I remember your 1rm was 230kg, so 45kg in 4 yrs at an already advanced level, not bad at all brudda
@@blahblah-if3nf yeh definitely. I had a crazy year back then. Went from 220-260 in a year. That was insane. Then it all slowed down hard. Had to work through a bunch of issues. Mainly hip pain battles.
One bonus of using a thinner bar is you can get your center mass closer to the weight, even the tiniest bit helps once we are approaching our upper limits. Nice pull, very motivational
Thank you for being a consistent inspiration. I was refereed one of your videos a few years ago (somewhere between day 200-250). It's been magical to see you make gains and squat atg day after day.
Your patience is unmatched, its so impressive .You are slowly and sensibly moving up the weight. I could do something like squat everyday, but i would be an idiot , throw 300kg on the bar, turn up the music, snort pre workout and see what happens. ( Get injured)
Nice PR. I struggle off the floor usually as well. In Mitch hoopers vid for how hes gonna get 505 he mentioned one of his cues is putting his weight more to the front of his feet. I've been trying it and I feel like I can drop my hips a little lower and use my quads more. It's been feeling pretty good so far
Fantastic work Ivan 🎉, that was a good smooth pull! That point about the "ricochet" is why I avoid the DL bar, felt so awkward having the bar move about. However, your point about easing into the pull I will try and see if that helps. Cheers!
That eccentric gives me goosebumps mate. It's like you are done doing the deed with the first lady and you give her a tip of the cap . Basically you are just showing off. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's amazing because we can all see how much stronger you are going to become.
Amazing I have a Texas DL bar (red with Crome) the feeling is incredible was definitely tricky to adjust at first, however my pr is still on a multi purpose bar lol
Good shit man, been along your journey a while and always wishing you the best, I do think you should focus more on hamstrings tho. like you my weakness is off the floor and stronger hamstrings helped me a lot with it.
I absolutely love to hear you’re working grip. Forearm work is so good for the entire system. 50kg dumbbells for 30 steps is monstrous! 355 lbs deadlift on a stiff bar is my best double overhand DL. One of my proudest lifts lol
Thanks man. Appreciate that. Yeh double overhead grip in deads is awesome. Literally kinda feel almost as proud of my 180kg lift. Feels good to have strong grip. I think it carries over to all other lifts in some way like you said.
Hey Ivan I suck breaking the floor too (210kg) Ive found cranking the bar, as in locking your lats in the set up REALLY helps get it moving ( that inspiration) for example, 60 and 100kg you should be able to break an inch of the floor purely via locking lats and cranking that bar- allowing solid initation of leg drive Let me know what you think cheers mate 👍
You did it - you slavic Aussie , you !! Strong AF. Smooth. You must've felt like everything was popping that day, this was outlier performance ! Also really good call going 240-275kg; a 10% jump is fine, some 260 middle lift would maybe have thrown you off. Glad you just went for it !
Yeh it took me a while to make that decision. Seemed like a big jump. But I knew a 260 pull would take alot out of me. Best to save myself for the battle of 275. It felt awesome. So lesson learned here for sure. It’s ok to take big jumps.
Alex Leonidas did a video recently about how lifters with poor deadlift builds should just do low block pulls. Saves you a couple inches at the bottom like a deadlift bar
I’m not sure if you know I could be wrong but I did hear in the beginning you have problems with pulling off the floor and it sounds like you have trouble pulling the slack out. Start by lengthening your arms and pull the bar up it’s very noticeable with the whip on the deadlift bar. That engages your upper back. And while you’re doing that you want to wedge your hips into the bar while maintaining that slack pull and the bar should come off the floor much easier without having the bar jerking yourself forward. If this explanation doesn’t help this is how I learned how to pull the slack but there are amazing demonstrations on RUclips I suggest PR Performance or Calgary Barbell to learn these tips. Congrats on the PR Ivan 300 is right there keep going
Thanks man. Yeh I’ve improved with the technique over the years. But I think I need more strength in certain areas to improve the pull off the floor. Upper back and quads probably great place to start.
Hey Ivan, I’ve been working on a documentary about you for quite a while now, and I just want to ask you to stop getting new PRs. It’s making my doc inaccurate at this point 😂. Seriously congrats tho man
It feels smaller on the hand - that's what she said. 😢😏 Never used a dl bar but I read it's 27mm while power bars are 29mm. I have a 32.8mm cheapo bar - I can't hook grip it properly but with 27mm maybe I can.
Man, that was cool. I loved the deadlift bars back in the old PTC powerlifting gym. I think it was 10kg more that I could pull for 5 reps with it. Crazy fun. Great overloading tool at the time (was competing on the ipf stiff bars).
Glad to see you are still at it 1,200 days later, such an epic mindset you have. You're grip is good, great if you haven't ever trained with grippers seriously. Get you a 200, 250, and 300 lb gripper and do some plate pinches and you will be top level in no time.
Thanks man. Yeh right now I’m just smashing farmers carry. Doing lots of it. So far so good. But I’ve also got CoC 1 gripper. Sometimes do that too. I need to buy the 2 next. I don’t think I’m strong enough for it. Far from it.
@IvanDjuric300 I don't know man that double overhand is impressive, I bet once that 2 or even a 2.5 is in your hand for a few months you'll find it easy.
You will get 15-20 kilo extra on a DL bar. My PB on the stiff is 300kg but I can pull 320kg on the noodle bar. It's how you described the bend and then the break off the floor is assisted somewhat
Nice work man I recently hit a 260kg deadlift how hard would you say is 260 to 275 I get just keep training and hitting higher and higher weight but did you find it stalled a bit
hey ivan i remember you used to deadlift on your knees pulling the bar just with your arma before doing a working set. Why did you stop? Just curious. And an other question, whats your max reps on 100kg squat? Keep it up brate
Ivan may you quickly take a look at these questions mate? P.s. youre the goat. 1st question is i am becoming an emt and i know youre in the healthcare field and i worry about my ability to train hard while working those long hard hours. Are you just built like that😂? My second question is, do you find it difficult to train 2 very heavy conpound lifts such as squat and deadlift back to back in one session? The cns fatigue on me would be nuts. Anyway youre the goat man❤️
Oh cool man. Glad to hear that. The hours are long and it can be tough physically and mentally, but I think training is a must no matter what. It makes you feel better before anything else. Gotta have a stress relief. And ripping heavy weight off the floor is unmatched stress relief. The work motivates me too. Seeing sick and disabled makes me wanna run through a wall man.
