Great observation! And yes that is true. Boss Monsters only stop aging if their children die/both parents die. They age normally if their child/children or at least one parent still live. Agreed, especially because the "burden" of the aging would be shared by Asgore and Toriel. A bit of information boss monsters only age when there biological son becomes the same age as them meaning that if toriel was 80 Asriel would need to be 80 before toriel would continue ageing
That could be the case...? I'm not sure, because Gerson never really ellaborated it, he just says they give their magic to their kid for them to grow. He also says Asgore's been stuck at this age since his son died, which would mean DID age before it happened. So the way I interpreted it is that they start aging when the kid as born and die when they become an adult. I could be wrong though, and I always enjoy having deep lore-discussions of my favourite medias. Thank you for your comment!❤️
Nope, version says that when teh child is born, they take the parents soul power, making both age, if Toriel was 40 amd Asriel 0, when Asriel is 40, Toriel would be 80
I... either you worded it in confusing manner, or you yourself got confused. Boss monsters, age from the moment they have a child. The baby is basically absorbing the parent life force to grow up and become an adult. We can assume the process would stop the moment the kid reached adulthood (or sexual maturity at the youngest) as they would instead, be capable to be on the receiving hand, having a child to make them age. Which, could mean, that Asgore and Toriel may or may not still have their energy drained once Asriel would hae become an adult. To give example : In Undertale, since Asriel died, both of his parents are frozen in time, unable to age until they have a child again. Using AUs that respect the lore, in Altertale, the skeletons (Gaster, Sans and Papyrus) swapped roles with the Dreemur (Respectively : Asriel, Toriel and Asgore. In it, Asgore and Toriel are siblings, possibly twins). They look very young, as Asriel is their father and is kinda "dead" but it may be debated that he also is kinda technically "alive", so maybe his energy is just passing very, VERY slowly to his kids, to the point they barely look like they are aging at all. (though, as Asriel had two kids, and no known partner... how he isn't much older is questionnable, as he likely would have lost twice the amount of enery)
Boss Monsters (Toriel, Asgore, and Asriel) age through their soul draining into the child/from the parent. In this case, without a child/parent to give/take soul power, they don’t age.
In simpler term : In undertale, neither Asgore nor Toriel will age unless they have another biological child. In the reverse way, had something lead to Asgore and Toriel both dying before Asriel reached adulthood (or sexual maturity), meaning he would be unable to have kids, Asriel would be stuck as a child, unable to age... forever.
Everyone is saying boss monsters only age when their child reaches their age, but this doesn’t make any sense. If a boss monster is born, they won’t have any children of their own and so they will never grow old enough to have any. How could one ever age enough to have children if they need children to age???
I think it’s the opposite? When a boss monster is born they are able to grow up by sucking away their parents’ magic or something, and that causes the parents to grow old (and possibly die after they child is already an adult imo). Thanks for the comment though! :)
Boss monsters age up to a certain point (possibly what would be considered adulthood for monsters) then they stop aging until they have a child. When they have one, they continue to age until their inevitable dusting from old age or if their child happens to dust first. This happened in Undertale, which caused both Toriel and Asgore to stop aging and they won't start unless Asriel is reincarnated or they have another child.
