the reason why this is not in game is because people would only stay in the upgrade menu just to hear this theme, noone would fight, so they decided to remove it (if you really want to hear this you can make a mod, this theme is in the game as tf_music_upgrade_machine.wav, good luck)

John Liberatore Did you know they used a map called "background01" in a early version of TF2? You could see dustbowls final on your menu. but out of view all the models and weapons were placed so they were preloaded :p this was before unlockable weapons
I'd rather not valve do that, It just makes the game take longer to load, and you can still do it manually by putting map_background "background01" in your autoexec :P I do think valve really needs to give the loading screen a makeover, I'd honestly love it if they added a screen like TF2Classic has. It’s really nostalgic and relaxing, and reminds me of when me and my mom stayed in this hotel like place and I was in my huge Ninjago phase (downloading Ninjago games on my Mom’s Ipad etc.) Still can’t believe i finally found it.
