    I saw the Jason Bonham band at a bar on 6th St. in Austin called Babe's. So good. It was their first Album called the Disregard of timekeeping. Very good album, great show. They also played Black Dog at some point. It was so cool.

      That's cool. I remember buying that album when it first came out. There was a lot of hype about it at the time but then it didn't do that well. I think people expected his band to be like Zeppelin? Why? He's his own person. Like Wolfgang Van Halen. He has made some great songs, but he is not his father and his music is go-to be his own. But both of them can play their fathers parts perfectly. WVH had much more time with his dad though. Thanks for commenting!

    Dare I say that Sakurai sounds better than Page live? Holy crap!!

    • @Spagz
      @Spagz  Год назад +2

      Sakurai is absolutely phenomenal. People that don't get it, don't get it. There is no doubt to me that there are times he surpassed Page if we were to compare live recordings. Especially from the 75 tour. The entire band was struggling at one point. There were times Bonzo didn't play his solo, Jimmy was doing minimal soloing and they were doing 2 hour shows instead of their legendary 3 to 3-1/2. But nobody can be perfect every night with what they were doing! So yeah, I agree. The JBLZE experience is one of the most underrated shows around. There are some other really good tribute bands, but JBLZE is a step above, and not just because it's Bonzos son.

      @@Spagzdidn’t they cut down on the improvisation in response to the punk movement? They were trying to keep up with the kids when the fashion was wam bam 50s rock and roll 3 min song style , going against the indulgence and pomp that was infecting rock at the time. The difference between the imitator and jimmy page and zeppelin is zeppelin created this music, which always implies obstacles which any creator is destined to suffer, where the imitation is doing something already established. Zeppelin is solidified today but at the time the critics didn’t like them, fans at times didn’t support their changes (zeppelin III sold poorly at first), and they were young men still maturing. Mr jimmy is over 50, he has command of himself. A 25 year old doesn’t.

      @@Gcssdvnkloiutesc Very well said. I think ( having been there) Prog rock killed ‘Rock’ not punk. Punk was back to basics pure energy in small accessible clubs, and was a welcome relief from the bloated crap some bands were pushing out. Led Zep ‘4’ was untitled to piss off all the critics. So as you say, they didn’t have it easy. This guy is amazing isn’t he ?

    the singer used to be a great RUclips Zeppelin singer. I think now he's just not feeling it. I mean, Jimmy is playing "live" related material and he's singing "studio" related material and it's not really mixing as well as it could.

    • @Spagz
      @Spagz  9 дней назад

      @@chebrneck I know that's how Jason found him because he mentions it. Otherwise I would not have known. I know what you mean though. Part of it may just be the amount of shows they do. They play quite often from what I understand. I think there are 2 performers in a band who have physically demanding jobs that can wear out from playing too much. Different kind of physical of course, but the singer and the drummer. Especially as we age. Plant struggled with it for sure, as young as he was. Bonzo didn't seem to, but he had superhuman energy. 🤣
      The toll it took on him was mentally.

      The drums just didn't have the "BONZO" vibe. As a 72 year old drummer, I consider myself a purist when it comes to "reproducing" a certain sound, the kick drum lacks the THUD you'd hear from what was used in the original composition. If you want to COPY Zeppelin, Zeppelin equipment is necessary!

      @@Spagz It's pure blues. People just don't know their stuff and then expose their ignorance on the internet. A lot of rock boils down to the blues, even if on a superficial level it may not sound like it. Take the Beatles' instrumental, "Flying," from Magical Mystery Tour. It may sound like a psychedelic circus song, but it's actually a basic twelve-bar blues. Or Pink Floyd's "Crazy Diamond." It may stretch out the form quite a bit, but it is another great original blues in the rock canon.

    Imagine spending your entire life trying to become someone else. I read an article about this guy and I think it's the most pathetic thing I've ever heard. So sad.

      I don't see it that way at all, but I do understand your way of seeing it. I know how it makes me feel when he plays and that's what I find to be the opposite of sad. He seems happy. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    I still feel that a young Jack Russell of Great White is a the BEST Plant imitator out there.
    This guy, a distant competitor.

      Agree! Dee Snider was pretty good too. To me, this band is all bout Mr. Jimmy and Jason. But the singer does a decent job, often excellent depending on the song.
