  • Hello friends, welcome to our channel. this video is about the build of steam engine. This steam engine is fully made of iron. the base plate is made up of 6mm thick iron plate. the cylinder is made of 21.5mm thick and 87mm long iron rod. this iron rod is drilled with 10mm drill bit and its drilled from side for pressure. piston is made from iron rod and its grinded to make it 10mm thick accurately so that it can easily slide in cylinder with 10mm bore. the valve cylinder is also made with 21.5mm rod and it is 64mm long and it is also drilled with 10mm drill bit up to other edge. valve cylinder has two hole side to side for passing pressure to cylinder. valve piston is 10mm thick and has one hole and opening at the edge for pressure passage from boiler to cylinder and then back cylinder to surrounding. the pistons are connected with flywheels by connecting cranks. In starting of video small wheels and small boiler were used but later in the video bigger wheels were used to increase momentum and bigger boiler was used to increase pressure. three flywheels are fitted in two brackets. wheels are made on our homemade mini lathe machine. the central wheel is bigger and heavier to make more momentum. the boiler is made with 114mm hollow iron pipe and it is sealed from ends with iron plates and edges are sealed by gas welding. burner is fitted at the bottom of boiler to make steam of water in boiler. the pressure from boiler to engine is passed by 10mm hollowed iron pipes. boiler has two holes on it, one to pass pressure or steam to engine and other to fill water. this hole is sealed with long bolt while operating the engine. This Steam Engine is very powerful, strong and it runs very fast. I hope you enjoyed the video and liked the video.
    thankyou for watching

    A boiler without a safety valve is a bomb! A least get a pressure gauge on it so you know when to leave the house.

      Is a safetey valve just a valve you can open to release the pressure

    • @briannemec9214
      @briannemec9214 3 года назад +18

      @@peytonbrown2440 A safety valve is a valve that opens automatically when a certain pressure is reached. A heated container needs a safety valve to protect from an explosion. The hot water heater in your house has a safety valve on it. The valve is usually controlled by a spring. Some model steam engines use a valve with a weight on it .

    Sir, you have my respect. This is probably the best do it yourself video I have seen yet. Done well with a touch of intertwining camera work, and a huge dollop of ingenious hands on fabrication , along with the video record of the process, yup, definitely among the top three I have seen. Great vid sir, keep them coming.

    This is madness !! Firing up ANY boiler without a safety pressure relief valve is not only illegal but also insane . The valves are readily available or you could make one yourself by using a simple plumbing fitting and instead of fitting a pipe block the hole with a thin piece of aluminium as a burst disk .

    Awesome! I will buy you a drill press lol. I'm incredibly impressed that you achieved a piston fit bore and cylinder eyeballing it with a hand drill. But it goes to show that anyone can get into machining with a little determination and basic tools. No excuses... You don't need a bridgeport, bench lathe, or even a drill press (though a drill press can be functional and game changing for under 100$).

    • @michaelward2869
      @michaelward2869 3 года назад +1

      Yeah he has that sussed out .
      I've got 12000 doller lathe but need someone to show me how to use it . Cause I'm sure that's all it takes . So why so much work in making things in the thousands and this and that all . I'm very aware of the involvement of microns and wank wank. Look I'm welder panel beater fabricator and I make plenty with out the lathe.
      Cause fitting machining very very very involved in measurements and acrucy is required for the out come welding is the same and with all the things you can do process all welding type's none could or even do the whole lot Cause in ierrelistic time it's too much and what are some people doing life time of training to do every process noone ever has done that , and why I know this . Cause everyone of us that would try that ,would soon realise very quickly that there full of shit . Totally and it's physically impossible in one life time to do something like this stuff, and get it we're you are brilliant at all module's and theroy and your metal urgey subjects as well, two or three life times I'd say yep it can be done .
      But I do know as I done more than enough welding and courses to know this machining and fitting would be as hard infact it'll be harder. Way too much for even the passionate welders and machinists out there . If anyone has,, well then I'll take my hat off for that person that every employer will be looking very very very closely at this person who even try's to claim this fame . I'd know pretty quick just how they set themselves up on there work bench. That's how an employer will know if they have done such work ,as I know ill be looking for peoples grey hair and there age even before the work bench thing I mentioned before.
      So this guy rocks with that little steam engine hey . 10 outta 10 .too good
      But there we are .
      I'm still hoping to find some one to show me some basic stuff in machining so that I can a lest use my lathe safely and correctly.

    I've been drawing and playing with materials trying to make a miniature boiler that runs on waste oil or finely crushed coal. Once the engine is running, it could drive a small fan to force air into the firebox and a screw\auger to feed coal. So you'd light the boiler with paper and sticks and feed it manually with fuel until it can drive the engine, then it starts blowing oxygen in and slowly feeding in crushed coal\charcoal. Then put the whole thing on a raft and have a model steam boat.

      I don't think you need permission, but it would be nice to know that the designer has given you his blessing. If he doesn't respond, I would assume it's fine to build as a learning aid, and considering he posted it on RUclips publicly without any assertion that it was copyrighted or that it shouldn't be duplicated. If that's still an ethically grey area for you, there are even simpler patterns online that are specifically posted as pubic domain and meant to be copied... though I seriously doubt this designer intended it to remain his intellectual property.

    That's all nice and good but a steam engine doesn't work with the steam it produces but by the difference in pressure when the steam condenses, you'll have a lot more power than just funneling steam into a piston and it is enough to insert a condenser in the cycle at the outlet of the boiler and to recover the steam after the transformation of this energy into mechanical energy (the piston) that you reintroduce into the boiler. Thus the circuit is closed and the pressure becomes considerably high, moreover you will not have much water loss. Recalling here the first principle of thermodynamics: "energy is produced by the dissipation of heat" it is the dissipation capacity which will give the power and not the steam as such since it is limited to its point of Curia. (max. point of temperature before boiling or change of state - function of atmospheric pressure) etc.

  • @johnsmit2348
    @johnsmit2348 2 года назад +2

    It's not a bomb.
    It probably will never reach that kind of pressure because it just about leaks more than it uses. it isn't a high pressure boiler. If it ever reached any kind of pressure to burst something it would most likely open a seam somewhere and spew some steam out. That could be a bad thing, but give the guy a break, he made it work, you're just picky. By the way it looks, the whole thing IS a safety valve.
