    Oh my gosh! This is FANTASTIC. I've done Giani countertops in another home, and was just now pondering what to do with the boring ones in my new place. Buying!!!

    • @jenna2431
      @jenna2431 3 года назад

      Questions:
      1. Can the marble spray be dabbed with a sponge to soften or "ghost" it?
      2. Is the paint compatible with some Feldspar, Inca Gold, or Bronze that I have on hand? I'm thinking to add a step to make soft, barely there "blushes" with some Black Onyx before putting the marble down.

    • @GianiGranite
      @GianiGranite  3 года назад +1

      @@jenna2431 great questions! Here's what we recommend:
      1. The Vein Spray dries fairly quickly, so sponging won't be possible. It's also not a water soluble material. However, we do recommend you sand after your veins dry, and before you use the Ultra Epoxy Resin Topcoat, so you could sand a bit more to lighten some of the veins. Sanding more could wear off the topcoat, so if you want, you could get an extra can of the Base coat and do 2 coats to ensure the Black Base doesn't wear.
      2. You can most definitely use another Giani mineral color to create those blushes. We experimented with the Bronze and Feldspar, and our favorite was barely visible hints of Bronze, but definitely go with what you like best. Just make sure that the veins are completely dry before adding the color and you won't muddy the white.
      Hopefully that helps, Jenna. Give us a shout if you have any more questions!

    *UPDATE:* I just finished putting my epoxy down on my countertops and thought I'd give some suggestions.
    1. Put your phone in a zip-locking bag unless you have somebody with clean hands to start your timer each time. I didn't mess up my phone, but was terrified that I might. Used a pinky to operate it, but wish I had planned to protect it.
    2. Have extra gloves if your hands are prone to sweating. I'm pretty painting-disabled, so I wished I had put an extra pair on over the supplied ones.
    3. It's easier than you think. Just breathe, have a plan, and rehearse the epoxy lay-down in your kitchen before you start so you can anticipate any issues unique to your kitchen configuration. As with anything, the mental game IS the game. :)

    Love this stuff, not hard to do just requires patience and time.. made my kitchen shine like new, I applied this during my complete kitchen remodel and it totally makes the difference.. small hint. DONT USE YOUR COUNTERS QUICKER THAN 4 WEEKS.. LIKE ALL EPOXIEIS IT TAKES TIME TO CURE AND HARDEN PROPERLY OTHERWISE YOU RISK DEEP SCRATCHES AND SWIRL WIPES ALL OVER THE COUNTER.. I waited and happy I did, I can wipe anywhere and it leaves no swirl marks anywhere.. if you’re to entitled and can not wait for the proper results, go elsewhere because you will cry about this product…

    I wish this black marble kit was available two months ago. I ordered the white marble kit from Amazon and have been having a heck of a time trying to paint the paint each individual vein. It seems this kit is easier with the added spray csb for the veins. Is there any place I can purchase a similar spray can but in black or Gray that I can use on the white marble kit?

    • @GianiGranite
      @GianiGranite  3 года назад +3

      Hey Chris! In the Belgotta Kit, we use the White Vein Spray from Montana Marble. They make quite a few colors, including black and silver. We have used the black over our white Marble base, and it's pretty cool, but a completely different look than the original grey veining of the kit. That stated, if you want to give the grey another go, give us a shout and we can give you some additional pointers. Our number is 800-650-5699. A few things I can offer that might help are pretty easy to implement. 1) Try holding the artists brush really loosely and overhand like Ami shows in the video. It's tempting to hold the brush like a pencil for added control, but a gentler approach will allow you to paint more smoothly across your counters, and give you more variation within the vein. 2) Keep your veins thin. Thick veins tend to look like stripes and can start to form an unintentional pattern. 3) When I spray the veins with water, I dab quickly over the vein, straight down. I only push the paint from side to side if I need to thin a vein. Hopefully that helps. But if you need to talk it through with us, don't hesitate to reach out. Cheers!

    • @GianiGranite
      @GianiGranite  3 года назад +1

      Hey James! Superb question. I know some epoxy mixtures smell pretty strong. We describe ours as extremely low odor. Honestly, when I use it, I don't smell it at all, unless my face is pretty close-usually when I'm inspecting for lint or dust that may have drifted into it after applying. I think it smells fruity and sweet. But it's not unpleasant at all. Like I stated before, I really don't notice it. If I gave it a time before the smell is completely gone, I'd say a couple of hours. Hopefully that helps. We have a lot of folks ask about the smell, and once they've used it, they report that it's so faint they don't think about it. We've taken a lot of care with the formula to make it ultra safe for consumer use. Cheers ☺️

      Hey Tina, Having never tested that out, I would recommend steering clear of anything additional on top of the Ultra Epoxy Topcoat. Epoxy systems have compositions that differ from each other, sometimes slightly, sometimes a lot. So what might work for one system might not for another. Hopefully that helps.

      Hey Aisha. Sorry for the late reply. We do have an acrylic topcoat that we package with our Giani Granite 100% Acrylic Kits. We have never actually tried it out with Black Marble, but the chemistry should be compatible. The only thing I would mention that could be a detractor, would be that it does yield a bit of a texture when dry. It's very slight, but worth mentioning. Instead of buying the Black Marble Kit and then the Acrylic Topcoat, you could buy everything for our A La Carte menu and it would save you some money. Here is the link to that page: gianigranite.com/collections/a-la-carte. Cheers!

  • @rosebrammer3297
    @rosebrammer3297 3 года назад

    Hi! 😊 My only question is, is it easily stained? I've seen that real marble tends to absorb staining materials (such as red wine). Does the same go for the materials in this kit?

    • @GianiGranite
      @GianiGranite  2 года назад

      Hey Rose! Great question. The Ultra Epoxy Topcoat is stain resistant. Think about it as a layer of protective glass over the top of your countertops that is glossy and impermeable. Nothing penetrates this stuff. I would still recommend cleaning up spills as soon as you can. Things like mustard and red wine tend to leave behind traces on just about any surface if not cleaned up promptly. Cheers!

      @GianiGranite  3 года назад +1

      Hey. Great question! You can most definitely do this on a desk. I would lightly scuff sand the surface, and then the rest of the instructions apply to the letter. The standard kit will cover way more than a desk, so you might want to purchase the contents A La Carte. That will make it more cost effective for the space you need to cover. Cheers!

      It most definitely can be done on either of those surfaces. Wood has a slightly different prep, but the remainder of the steps are identical. Here is a link to the Marble FAQ page. The steps for Black Marble prep are the same as for the Marble Kit, so just follow those early surface prep tips for wood, and you're off and running. Cheers and give us a shout if you need anything else.

    • @GianiGranite
      @GianiGranite  2 года назад

      What I do to mitigate that is brushing lightly over it throughout the process of coating the facing surface of the countertop. So when you're doing rolling on the tops with the Epoxy Topcoat, just keep checking the backsplash for drips. It's tough because the material is subject to gravity, but a little extra care will help. Plus the epoxy has a pretty long open time, so it won't start to set up while you're working with it. You should be able to brush out those drips for up to 30 minutes after applying it. If you start to notice it getting tacky, just levant it be and check it in about an hour. Good luck to ya!

    Can this be used on a textured Formica countertop?

    • @GianiGranite
      @GianiGranite  2 года назад

      You can! The Epoxy Topcoat should level out into the textured areas. As long as it's not deep texture, you should be good. For instance, we recommend against using it on tile counters simply because the grout lines are much shallower than the tile and it's noticeable after the epoxy cures.
      The only thing that might be tricky is veining, but I bet you'll be able to make it look awesome! Cheers!

    Do you have a smaller kit for bathrooms?

    • @GianiGranite
      @GianiGranite  3 года назад

      Hey Tasmin. We don't quite yet. We usually give it a little time and gauge the reception of the full sized kit before creating a small project kit. However, you could purchase the items a la carte and effectively create your own. It would be under $100 before shipping. You would just need a can of the Iron Core Primer, an Ultra Epoxy Resin Single Set, a can of the White Vein Spray, A roller arm (comes with 2 covers), a foam roller, 1 of the 2" Foam Brushes, and a 2" Angled Brush. That should cover a single sink bathroom vanity. If you have double that space, you would just need to add another single set of the Epoxy. If you're interested in doing that, here is a link to the A La Carte page gianigranite.com/collections/a-la-carte. Or just give us a call and we can help you order exactly what you need for the area you have to transform. Cheers!

    • @GianiGranite
      @GianiGranite  3 года назад +2

      Hey Rockaland2, great question! You are most definitely wise to ask it. The Black Base Primer is water-based and it's VOC content is ultra low. To quantify the amount, it's 96.91 grams/liter, and the primer is a 12 oz. can. The VOC content of the White Vein Spray is actually made by a company called Montana. Here is a link to the SDS for that product www.dick-blick.com/msds/DBH_SDS_014501020.pdf And with regard to the Ultra Epoxy resin, it's Zero VOC due to the fact that it's solvent-free. It's a 100% solids formula, which means ultra low odor and extremely safe. Hopefully that helps. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to give us a shout.
