    I think this is exact what we want to do with our kitchen. Thank you for the throurough instruction. Did you have to sand out the surface after its done? how resistant it is toward stain and heat?

    • @DoriTurnerInteriors
      @DoriTurnerInteriors  Год назад

      You’re welcome! Thanks for watching! No, you don’t have to sand the surface when done. Any really difficult stains come out with a Magic Eraser. But overall stains come out easily with soap and water or kitchen cleaner. It’s heat resistant up to 250 degrees so really hot pans off the stove or out of the oven will need a potholder underneath.

      She did sand paper in this video. It’s easy to miss. But it’s to be expected. 5:35 sure looks like sand paper. But again, when using the top coat I would have expected to sand paper and even do a second one as recommended. Maybe I’m wrong and she’s just wiping it down with a rag that is the color of sand paper.

    Would you need to sand a laminate or Formica countertop before applying the primer? Also, if there are any air bubbles in the epoxy is a torch needed like other products?

    • @DoriTurnerInteriors
      @DoriTurnerInteriors  2 года назад +1

      They do recommend sanding with those types of countertops. I lightly sanded our laminate down before I applied the primer. I very carefully looked over the counters in small sections and used my paintbrush to get rid of a few air bubbles but there weren’t many and I didn’t need a torch.

    • @DoriTurnerInteriors
      @DoriTurnerInteriors  Год назад

      Thank you! I use a damp towel to wipe the surface clean, if I need a disinfectant I use my thieves cleaner from Young living or Mrs. Meyers cleaner. For the occasional tough stain that won’t come out with those, I use a magic eraser.

      You can use an epoxy glue to fix the chips. The product will cover flaws. I’m not sure what you mean on the color? If you’re asking if the marble kit will cover your blue then the answer is yes. If you’re wanting to change the color of the kit I wouldn’t recommend it. Thank you! We’ve had them for 11 months or so and they still look like new! I haven’t had any yellowing, I use Magic Eraser if there’s a tough stain and it always comes out!

    Did you have any troubles with epoxy on the sharpe edge?

    • @DoriTurnerInteriors
      @DoriTurnerInteriors  2 года назад

      No, you tape the plastic under the countertop and roll the epoxy off the edge and then use a roller or brush to smooth it out along the edges.

    I bought my house 2 years ago and I was just wondering Does it work on dark countertops as well? Mine are brown with sparkles ? I’ve had this in my Amazon Cart for over a month afraid to do it myself ….You made it look fairly easy so I would love to do this! I already painted all my cabinets white with black hardware 😊

      Hi Julie! Yes, it will definitely work on your dark countertops! It will look beautiful with your freshly painted cabinets and hardware!

      I wouldn’t use it in a sink, I don’t think it would hold up over time…

    Have you had to apply epoxy gloss coat over time or is it holding up pretty well? Thinking about trying it but home projects take that time/patience when your a DIY’er lol

      We haven’t had to reapply the epoxy, it’s been 18 months and they still look fantastic!

    Did you have a lot of air bubbles with the epoxy? If so how did you get rid of them?

    • @DoriTurnerInteriors
      @DoriTurnerInteriors  2 года назад +1

      I did not have trouble with air bubbles in the epoxy…I stirred gently (no shaking) the can for the 3 or so minutes it called for and just poured it on, using a roller to smooth it out and a brush to get in the corners. I didn’t have any bubbles when done.

      Yes, I would do it again. Not sure how it would do on a grainy surface though…thanks!

    After using sand paper, did you put another layer of epoxy again?

      The only time I sanded was with the primer step…I didn’t sand the epoxy.

  • @marlyn7144

    How did you make sure there were no bubbles, did you have to sand at all?

    • @DoriTurnerInteriors
      @DoriTurnerInteriors  2 года назад

      I did not have to sand, I just carefully spread the epoxy using a foam roller and paint brush (for edges and corners) and it came out smooth. I had a few bumps under the countertop edges where I forgot to tape it off but thankfully you can’t see them!
