DISCLAIMER: most of these Glocks are now shipped with the orange tip SUPERGLUED on. Unless you somehow get one that was glued in the last 24 or 48 hours and fully cured, you're probably going to break off the orange tip and have orange plastic and glue remaining in the gun. you will have much better luck if you put the tip in BOILING WATER or USE A HEAT GUN. If you still manage to have pieces of glue and plastic in threads after your first attempt, soak some cotton or tissues with nail polish remover (acetone) and plug the tip of the barrel for an extended period of time. around 30 minutes should enough to soften it up quite a bit, but have some patience and let it set for an hour or two before going after it. at that point use something with an edge and try to to go in-between the threads (very important) and sheer off the material as if you're using a wood chisel and trying to shave off long continuous spirals. It should come off like a knife through butter. If not, try to remove as much orange plastic as possible, and continue to repeat the acetone soaked cotton packing in the tip. the acetone will weaken the plastic, but its main job is to permeate the glue itself for a good clean removal. EXTRA NOTES BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT: Remove the outer barrel from the gun and separate it from the inner barrel before attempting. you do not want to scratch the inner barrel during the process. Try to keep the acetone away from the outside of the outer-barrel. this isn't real steel so we have no idea how durable the finish is on the slide and barrel. acetone is flammable. DO NOT use a lighter or heat gun on the barrel after you start to incorporate acetone in the process or have an open bottle of it around. Avoid using an exacto knife or something of similar thickness (like a thin steak knife) to remove excess material .those blades are very thin, and accidents can certainly happen when they're not used as they're intended (IE as a primary method of removing hard material). For a common household item, I recommend a very small flathead screwdriver, like the ones used to adjust screws on eyeglasses/come in those tweezer sets. If you scratch up the tip or the edges in the process you can use something like a paint marker for model kits (gundam marker) to clean up the look. Sharpies are blue and dull, and will make your $200 gun look like its worth $20. I touched up the edges in black and used gold on the threads to match the inner barrel. I was worried it would look over the top and juvenile since I didn't want to trick out the gun at all, but the very small amount of gold looks very tasteful. hope this helps you all
What I reccomend (and I can vouch for this) is getting a small pot of boiling water and tying the gun to something above the pot so that just the end of the barrel is in the water. After about 5-10mins the orange tip will come right off with some pliers.
Please help I haven’t done that yet but I’ve tried this way and others and it hasn’t worked all it has done is fuck up the orange tip PLEASE REPLY AND HELP ME
Just so everyone knows... I bought my g19 this month (February 2019) and tried a hair dryer and twist method.... My orange tip broke off and left orange inside of my barrel threads. I took the pistol apart and took the inner barrel out. Then I put just the outter barrel in less than half a shot glass of acetone. It took about an hour soaking a d rubbing with Q-tips and scraping with a dab tool ( dental tool/clay sculping tool). You can. Actually get the dab tool hot and scrape a good amount of the plastic out that way first as well. But eventually you have to use the acetone. I only recommend acetone on the outter barrel as it is metal. Acetone eats Plastic so keep it away from the rest of the gun

should have watched this first. I use hot water to remove them sometimes, but with the glock it just melted off and left the rest of the orange tip stuck inside the barrel, very very hard to remove now. I was intially afraid I'd snap the slide or something due to the parts all being plastic
DISCLAIMER: I have just ordered a glock 17 airsoft gen 3, the gen before this, and tried to remove the orange tip the same way (with some sort of a tool, and nothing else). It worked - and it eventually came off, however, if you do it with all of the parts of the model in tact, that you may break your inner barrel (thats what happened to me) and any of yours bb's wont be able to go through. After that, more and more problems spiraled, so I now cant event cock it back. Instead, I would recommend isolating the outer barrel with orange tip, placing it in warm - hot water, and then removing it (make sure the inner barrel is removed).
Matthew Hagedorn before you take it off, you’re supposed to heat up the barrel w/ a blow dryer to melt the glue holding it in place. I learned that the hard way
