  • Hi friends! Here is Elton! I hope you enjoy making this biggie cabochon wire wrapped ring! This is a step-by-step tutorial, using a one-wire, coiled ring shank and frame technique. I like making my rings in this way as it only uses one wire but still gives me a thick, 7-wire band with 6 wires on top to capture my large oval Labradorite cabochon. My stone is 1.25 inches long x .75 inches wide x 5mm thick. I'm using 28 inches of 18 gauge, soft, round, copper wire for the coiled frame. I'm using about 6 feet of 26g weaving wire for the ring shank and I'm using 2 x 14 inches of 22g half-round wire for the embellishment and finishing wrap. I hope you come to love this wire ring technique. It allows for a very sturdy capture of a large stone and makes a comfortable, substantial-feeling ring! You'll love wearing this on your finger and it's a wonderful way to use your larger stones for jewelry. Pendant and bracelets are fun too but why not use the big stones on the finger too! I hope you enjoy this fun jewelry making tutorial! Learn to make beautiful DIY wire wrapped jewelry with me!

    Hi friends! I always video in High Definition... while the video processes, it might be showing a bit fuzzy, you can change your resolution with the Video controls in the lower right hand corner of the screen. Make it 1080 for HD and it will be a very clear picture. Otherwise, it will probably be clear anyway in about an hour. :D Enjoy Elton!! I love this ring.

    Wonderful technique. I have been trying to figure out something like this forever. Yesterday I tried and failed with a stone and today I got this. Thank you. I can finally get more things done.

      Awesome to hear! Yes... time consuming but really only the first time or two, then it becomes a flow inside that coil... and yes my dear, worth it worth it! The ring feels amazing on the finger. Many thanks for watching! I'd love to see if you make one!

    I'm going to try to make it with a smaller stone and less wires. My hands are very small.
    But....I love the design!

    Wow! Now that's a ring! I love the construction on the ring but it's a little too big for me. I think it would be interesting to scale this now to a smaller size. I live the one wire design!

      I know you probably wish I did things 'easy first' and then the harder one but no.... I just put up a variation on this design if... for the next one (Hugs and giggles with you) ... you don't want to weave the shank, you can do the Bare Elton! version of this ring. You can do this whole thing without the weave too, but hey, now you know how to weave in between the coils! :D Love you!

    I really enjoy watching you. I have been gathering new craft supplies to learn to make jewelry. I am not quite ready to start as it take time to get everything. Can you please recommend wnat store in Canada to get wire / Michaels don’t sell but a few inches no spools . Shopping in usa is to much for me, if you can help that would be great as I can start once I get the wire . Thanks

      I'm so sorry but I have no idea where to buy wire in Canada... a few you might check, maybe they are big enough that they also sell in Canada is... Riogrande.com (Major wire supplier)... and try FireMountainGems.com too, they are a pretty big supplier also. I have searched and seen some Sterling Silver as well as Craft wire and Copper wires on Amazon... I don't know any of the suppliers there, but you might also search and look to see what you might find. Good luck! Thank you for watching!

    Is it possible to use 24g or 28g wire for the weaving? Rio Grande's 26g is on back order.

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, for sure, I'd use 28g, the 24 is a bit large but 28 will work great. Have fun!

    if u need a much larger ring how many coils do you need?

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  11 месяцев назад

      Hi Linda... you don't need more coils necessarily rather more wire and a longer 'oval' frame... what size finger and what size stone are you working with? If you can give me a ring size, and the length and width of your stone, I can let you know what you need.

  • @beccapeterson4744

    Okay so 4 those of us who are in way over our heads is there a simpler way to think the weave pattern? Mine works but 1st try not right yet

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  3 месяца назад

      You can think of each wire as a number, starting from the bottom, frame 1, 2 , 3 etc...the top shank wire might be 6.... This is an overhanded coil, one over one as you wrap up the outside of the shank and then a long stretch from the very top wire (the last wrap), all the way back down to wire 1 from the inside of the shank, then you go one over one back up the front for the next row of weave... I hope that helps!
