@@hamzamalik9705 theres no way hes taking 25-30% revenue of a product driven business. Even if they're doubling cost on each bottle, that's 50% gone, 20% to taxes and that's 70% before paying for overhead and staff. Hes probably taking home around $200k on $3m revenue of a liquor store

Theo is right though, owning a corner store is generational wealth when you come from poor neighborhoods. Gary V really underestimates what a fucking advantage a small family business putting food on the table gives you in life. You walked into a job at 13 years old and were able to use it to launch a secondary business which is great, hard work does pay off but you still started life on second base, maybe not third, but self made isn't exactly accurate when someone put your ass on second base while most kids are outside the stadium looking in through the chain link fence.
I reality going from no base to 1st base is the hardest part.

You are wrong and dumb. Gary saved his first 80k from arbitrage and busting ass. He used the money to build his first business.
You have to have immigrant parents to understand Gary's POV. Doesn't matter if they own a store or whatever because you don't get any part of it. Plus they make you work for them most of the time for free or with shit pay.

just to defend Gary because a accurate criticism of individuals is valuable but a caricature or false statements of him is not, he has made clear to those who want to be entrepreneurs to work a job, save money and to do what you want to do on the side by putting in extra hours on weekends and available time if you so happen want to do business.
Also he has made clear that you do not have to do that and can live content with just a job and enjoy life. Basically being self aware is pushed.
