      @@MrsRobinson0741Or the case of Allison Botha! She was stabbed dozens of times, disembowled, and nearly decapitated, yet somehow survived after being attacked by two men in South Africa. She had to hold her head up with her hands because her throat and neck muscles were so badly damaged. That's one of those cases where the victims will to live, and will to see their would-be murderer(s) punished, goes beyond what seems possible for a human body to survive. On one hand, our bodies seem so fragile, but on the other, we hear of these extraordinary cases that defy all medical knowledge. Anyway, I'm hours late to this thread, but if anyone wants another example of a truly heroic will to survive, you can't go wrong with researching Ms. Botha.

    Just a heads up for anyone who’s ever injured - in many US states, if law-enforcement brings you to the hospital at their initiation, the state will cover the cost. Most states also have victim reimbursement funds that can help cover anything from a house fire to being harmed by a person.

      Steven Roy Carr looks like a homosexual of that day, and I suspect his jealously of those two young women being able to live out their lives freely and his self-hatred from always pretending to hate homosexuals is what lead to him attacking them.
      From how many other cases where the facts beared this out, I do suspect that to be the truth. I also suspect he was a monstrous individual to begin with and that was 90% of the reason. The other reasons are likely only 10%, and why he chose them.
      It's sad when people in society won't treat humans as humans regardless of their innocent beliefs and innocent lifestyles.

    I am a gay male born in 1972 in Montana. A very scary time and place to be gay. A childhood of fear and constant bullying. By the age of 17 I had attempted suicide three times. Nearly succeeding the third time. Today I have social anxiety, PTSD and chronic depression. Stemming from how I was treated while growing up. Kids and even adults can be so cruel…. and to be at the receiving end of that cruelty is terrifying. I can’t express just how alone and hopeless I felt during those years of my life. Just looking at a school or being in one causes me to have a panic attack. Watching this brought it all back. When the picture of the killer’s lawyer was shown (while describing how he was interrogating the victim about her relationship and lifestyle) I felt I was looking at one of my homophobic teachers. Like looking satan in the eyes while he is smirking at you. 😨 My heart hurts for what these two ladies had to endure. It was such a scary time to be gay. I wished so badly that I could change who I was so I could be “normal”. So my dad (a football star from San Diego State University) would love me and be proud of me. So I could experience going to school without being heckled and whipped into corners with towels in gym class. Or even just to have friends. Attending school from kindergarten to 12th grade with no friends while trying to come to terms with how I was being treated was a living nightmare. I truly hope there might be a few people that watch this video and realize the fear, hate and trauma that those of us who are gay had to endure. 😔😢

It's a lot better than it used to be, hopefully your daughter will be fine. Hearing things like the court wanted to normalize lesbianism and that cops had the opinion that everyone has a right to justice puts a welcome pin in a turning point on the way society was thinking and how this case helped reach the public. And my admiration for Claudia's strength and resilience is boundless. Being able to make it through all of that pressure and media circusing and still coming out on top. The police officer tried calming him down and told him that he's gonna call for ambulance to bring him the hospital for a mental health evaluation, and his first and only reply was "No I can't, I can't afford that!" The fact that our vets suffering from suicidal thoughts, have to worry about how they can't afford treatment that could save their lives is disgusting. 😢 And then the cop told him. The LGBTQ community has to continually fight to maintain a fraction of the rights that most people have. And there are people continually fighting to take those rights away. Comparing the US to a country that punishes homosexually with death does not mean the LGBTQ community is living the good life here.

    I’m not religious. A knew man I greatly respected, who was religious, but was never pushy about it. His daughter committed suicide a few years ago and I never heard any indication as to why. This bothered me greatly for years, because I thought if this truly good man, who was married to a kind women, whose daughter won awards for volunteering, and who was a better parent than me as I saw it at the time, could kill herself, how could my children or anyone be safe?
    I found out recently she’d been sent to conversion therapy through their church. She had made a suicide attempt and was hospitalized for three days and tried again and succeeded within days of going back to her parents home. This is a religious town but I thought CONVERSION THERAPY? In the 2020s? here? This isn’t a tragic movie from 1985, how could this happen? How could HE allow his daughter to go there? I would have thought that this man would have outright rejected such a suggestion, religious or not, if I’d even been able to imagine such a situation occurring.
    But at least I’m no longer confused as to how the daughter of the “perfect” family could be driven to that end. 😢

    As someone who is queer, I usually actively avoid watching true crime content when it is evident that the victim(s) or perpetrator(s) fall under the LGBT+ umbrella, not because I can't stomach these cases, but because the vast majority of true crime content creators are simply incapable of discussing those things as elements of one's identity without espousing the same blatant homophobia and transphobia that has been peddled and normalized for centuries, or even excluding these things from the narrative in cases where they are absolutely relevant. I really really appreciate the way you covered this crime, and the emphasis placed on Claudia and Rebecca and covering their relationship with the respect and dignity it deserves.

      @sapphicwriter 9 месяцев назад +5

      Agree, and it doesn't help when they either ignore or promote comments that are just blatantly anti-LGBT and saying the victim had their death coming. As a lesbian I am happy to see this channel is not like that at all.

    Giles, thank you so much for the way you delivered Rebecca and Claudia’s story. As a fellow lesbian, I truly appreciated you standing up for us and calling things out in the way that you did - humanizing us and our relationships. Unfortunately, I know of a case here in Texas that is all too similar to Claudia and Rebecca’s and that’s the story of Mollie Olgin & Kristene Chapa. I’ll leave it there because I’m a bit at a loss for words after this episode.

      Homosexual deaths are usually far more brutal than other deaths, however, homosexuals are far more likely to be killed by another homosexual than a hate crime. So they're extremely violent to each other. There's plenty of studies on this conducted by respected & credible forensic experts published in forensic medical journals.
