    This bothers me, because I did 20 years in the military, and I knew a lot of drunks with impeccable records, who treated their families like crap.... Having an outstanding service record shouldn't clear you of anything. There's decorated policemen who go home, drink and brutalize their spouses.... The fact that he had a good service record, and that cleared him of being a suspect originally is ridiculous. I'm a combat veteran, I would think that if something happened to somebody in my life that you would look into me, because I could possibly be prone to violence. These were some ridiculous assumptions on the investigators part

He doesn’t seem to realise how good he’d got it, that she was generous in allowing him to escape his financial duty to her and their child.

      Magnanimous? I understand child support. But why should a grown adult get alimony from another grown adult?

    • @thisisMONSTERS
      @thisisMONSTERS  8 месяцев назад +124

      @summer-no6fx Well, since alimony is a part of a divorce, it always applies to an adult. The point of alimony, which can be paid to either the man or the woman, is to adjust for the income disparity between the two. If one spouse makes 100k a year and the other makes 50k a year, they are both used to a higher means of living. When they divorce, the one who made more generally pays the other one for a period of time so they can survive at the same means.

      Courtney, I totally get where you are coming from. If I may, Forgiveness in these type of cases is to not allow the perpetrator the power to continue infecting the surviving loved ones by the byproduct of hate. It’s difficult to cherish the life our loved ones lived if our minds and hearts are occupied with the one event that led to one’s premature demised. It’s too much power to give to those who have done wrong. Forgiveness is like taking out the trash so our minds and hearts can be cleared to honor those deserving to be in such sacred places within us. We don ‘t put trash on a pedestal. We throw that sh** away or flush it! Respectfully. Forgiveness is beyond powerful thus why it is not very commonly used.

      @@sheilavayenas2016no, churches absolutely don't do that. Forgiveness is very much a Christian value, but perfect adherence is not expected. However those in faith, and mental health professionals will tell you Forgiveness isn't something you do for the perpetrator, it's something you do for yourself. Remember, anger is like taking poison in the hopes that someone else gets sick. You should be as toxic as you want, but you don't get to tell someone else that they are wrong for dealing with it how they see fit. You need to get some help because you are toxic AF.

      I was in the Army for 8 years, and my Husband just retired after 24 years. The military doesn't make people psychopaths. It just attracts them more so than other occupations. The lure of obtaining significant power over a lot of people attracts people who are pathological. It doesn't help that to obtain that rank and power, you have to be willing to throw everything and everyone under the bus and view people not as people but as assests and risks. The military structure actually favors this thought process.

      Brilliant police work, why would the ex be a suspect, he seems so nice?. Apart from bashing her occasionally. And he passed the lie detector, a device so poorly supported by evidence you’d do a similar job by holding the subjects hands like Bob Di Nero in Meet the Parents. Finally how did they see through his entirely plausible story of yes I left her unconscious body out in the middle of nowhere with her phone just in case she came to I am after all, a compassionate man and I really care. I wouldn’t hurt a fly even if that fly was totally unreasonable in its demands for alimony.

    Tricia and Steven lived in my community, sat in front of me in church and she was a precious, loving dear friend!! He was never very talkative and didn't interact much at church. The last time I spent with Tricia was when she was packing up to head to Florida...she confided some infidelities to me but never appeared afraid he would harm her. She was not the kind of person to ":set up" anything as he was suggesting. All Tricia wanted was her daughter and to raise her happily in the faith that she held so dear. I understand a lot of people dont understand the forgiveness given by her family but to each his own....we all have different ways of coping.

There is only 1 reason someone doesn’t do that,…And it’s not panic, the reaction to panic is to seek help, again 911. It requires one to suppress the instinctual urge to call for help and act deliberately and clearly.

This case is a perfect example, why on Earth would you trust this person, who abused and murdered your loved one, to be honest about where he disposed of her? Now it's very possible he could get out, and the family can't possibly feel truly at peace with that.

    I take that back! Even my 3y.o. knows to call 911!!
    2) Tricia's dad saying Stephen was a good man- blah, blah, blah. He's forgiven him. Although in her diary he was becoming more abusive. (Not too mention they NEVER found ALL her body parts!) Good job looking the other way, 'DAD'. UGHHHH
    And Lastly
    3) Stephen was in the Air Force?
    a)Don't they do testing & evaluations for MENTAL, PSYCHOLOGICAL, INTELLIGENCE, etc.. anymore?
    b) They didn't bother investigating/charging him either, even though he was still ACTIVE?
    Well, no surprise there, just goes to show how far down our military haven fallen & CORRUPT become!!

    Steven's ridiculous "explanation" to the police in the interrogation room, is an *excellent* prime example of how the mind of so many psychopaths works.
    For the majority of "normal" rational members of society, *no one* (even if lying) would ever dream of embarrassing themselves by expecting *anybody,* let alone, an experienced detective, to believe that absolutely unrealistic, insane, account of the events of what happened to his ex-wife. It would be obvious to most people that not only would no one (including a jury) swallow a story like that, but even if someone was stupid enough to accept it just at face value, as soon as the police did even the most minute, basic, amount of investigating, that nearly everything he had claimed, had *provably* been a complete fabrication...
    *However,* Steven, being a narcissistic, Psychopath, believes that he is highly intelligent, and is able to make anyone, *even detectives, his wife's loved ones, and an entire court room,* believe anything he says.
    He has no shame, so embarrassment isn't something he has to consider when deciding whether or not to even use a fantastical story like the one he went on to swear to...
    And ultimately, being a psychopath, he has zero *empathy for others,* so lying to her family (and his own child who will grow up and have to hear what he had not only done to her mother but also hear the lies he told proceeding her mother's murder) is as easy as breathing to a monster like Steven.

    • @mommy2libras
      @mommy2libras 8 месяцев назад +2

      As to the last paragraph- it's easy because they themselves don't have feelings, or at least not to the degree someone who isn't a sociopath has them. Any emotion you see is usually learned behavior- over the years, they've learned how to respond and sound sincere or "show" emotion so they seem normal. To many, it isn't even because they're trying to be shady or hide anything, it's to fit in, so people treat them normally. So it's easy to lie. You're not worried about making someone sad or devastating them because you have no idea how that feels. You just kind of take other people's word for what they say they feel. It's difficult to imagine if you're born feeling emotion like a "normal" person. They aren't denying the emotion or pushing it back- they genuinely may not know what it feels like. You can describe physical pain to people and even if a person has never had your particular injury, they can still kind of relate because they've felt pain before. But if you're born never feeling it, you have no idea how to imagine it. No frame or point of reference to even know where to begin.
      Of course, the person is still intelligent and knows murder is wrong and that it will affect others- I'm not trying to say they wouldn't. I have just always been interested in the psychology behind these things. It's difficult for most to even imagine being able to lie that easily but that's because we can't ever know what it's like to not feel emotion. Once you've felt it, you will always remember how it felt even if you're never happy or sad or angry or whatever to that degree again. But some really do have kind of blank spots where others would feel emotion. It's an odd concept but to find a way to fix the issue, or at least help them, we have to first understand the problem from the other point of view.

However seeing how Tricia wrote that Stephen abused her, I don’t think he always “treated her well” and “was a gentleman” at all. It’d be one thing is she never had claimed abuse and this murder was out of no where and the dad said that. And yes he didn’t know until after the murder that she wrote he had abused her, but he now knows so claiming he was always a perfect gentleman (not just SEEMED like one) seems… not right.
