First time I ever heard Billy Joel's iconic singing was this song when I was a kid! My mom taught me who he was. Then a few years later, when I was old enough to understand, I heard "Only the Good Die Young" 😂
I just watched this movie for the first time and there was honestly not a single uninteresting or bad scene. Its not one of the absolute best disney movies cause the bar is just set too high, but the plot, characters and animation were just amazing, and it was absolutely not predictable (compare it to one of the latest disney movies "Raya and the last dragon" which had one of the most predictable plots ive ever seen in a disney movie or in any animated movie; it was still a great movie, the dragon was very likeable and looked breathtaking, and the animation was on a top level, but the fact that you knew what was going to happen next throughout the whole movie and the main message of that movie didnt make any sence since it only happened when the main characters had no other choice (i dont wanna spoil anything lmao)). This movie on the other hand, I dont have a single thing to criticize it for, just a really good dinsey movie, and yeah its underrated. It may be not as interesting as the best ones like Lion King or 101 Dalmatians for example, but its still a very, very, very good movie.
He could totally throw this in after a certain lyric from The River of Dreams... I'm not sure about a life after this, God knows I've never been a spiritual man. At times, I'll find my way, To the river that is running, TO THE PROMISED *_LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND..._* (cue: 0:16, then after 2:41, Billy takes us home) *_...IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!_* I go walking in my sleep, Through the desert of truth, To the river so deep. We all end in the ocean. We all start in the stream. We travel along by the river of dreams, In the middle of the night!
After all these years. i find out Billy Joel sings this. one of my all time favorite Disney movies when i was a kid. i watched that VHS tape over and over..LOL
One of the more under appreciated songs in Disney’s library for sure (actually, that goes for all songs from Oliver & Company). One the reasons I love this Disney movie is because Billy Joel sings this song. Billy Joel is a legend!!!
This whole soundtrack is amazing! I was born a year after this movie was made. I got it on VHS when I was 3 years old so '92. There isn't a day that goes by that this song, and Perfect Isn't Easy goes through my head. This movie may have a darker tone for a Disney movie but it is amazing and underrated!
I'm only 14 and I remember watching this when i was 5, it's still one of my favourite disney movies and the songs are 10 times better than some of the latest disney movies.
I had a book on tape of this movie when I was a little kid, and I remember listening to it in my dad's 1993 Chevy Blazer on a long trip. I have fond memories of listening to all my favorite disney soundtracks in that Blazer when I was little. This era of Disney kicks ass!
I remember watching this movie as a kid and my all time favorite songs was this one right here... I still listen to it today... it is indeed a great classic and will never be forgotten...
when I was younger I was watching this, and my mom walked into the room, then when this song came on she called in my dad. "Honey Honey, listen to this guy sing he's really good" My dad then did a facepalm. "Yes that's because it's Billy Joel" My mums a Die-Hard Billy Joel fan, and she didn't realize that it was him singing. It's amazing what animation can do!
One of my favorite Disney animated movies! I’ve been fan of Joel since 4 and I saw this movie 3 times in theaters when it came out 36 years ago and had some merchandise even soundtrack
I had completely forgotten about this song until I had watched it again last year after who knows how many years. I LOVE this song! Sometimes I miss being little and watching all these old disney movies!
Love this whole movie. Have original movie posters and I have the big decals of the whole gang theaters used to stick to the windows to advertise the movie. Thanks for posting this!!
I remember seeing this movie as a kid for the first time, not too long after my father had passed. It was one of the greatest things in my life at the time. I especially remember this song.
I'm 24 and I remember rocking out to this on VHS and playing it over and over and over again. One of my fave Disney movies and songs EVER! My kids are gonna be watching these Disney movies before they can talk lol
This is an awesome and upbeat song. I could listen to this all day. If they have this song in a karaoke place, I'm definitely singing it the next time I go.
i always used to love this song when i was little it used to be on the tv all the time vote up if u loved oliver and company when u where younger and wish it was on the tv again!
Omg if Billy Joel played this at one of his concerts I would freak out!!! This song should be included as one of his greatest hits!
Hells yeah Bros youre right!!!
First time I ever heard Billy Joel's iconic singing was this song when I was a kid! My mom taught me who he was. Then a few years later, when I was old enough to understand, I heard "Only the Good Die Young" 😂
Won't happen because it's Disney rights.
@@vikingchick89also because Billy didn't actually write it
In the running for most underrated Disney song.
It's the winner as far as I'm concerned. Although "Stand Out" is up there too.
I'm torn between this one and "Streets of Gold" from the same movie.
I would include “My Funny Friend and Me” Lol
Mr Spectacals Yeah, but this song is Waaaaaaaaay better!
I still have it on VHS
This Is the best underrated disney movie, It's so original, and the characters all have great personalities along with great music and animation!
DODGER AND RITA ARE AWESOME
@@vadimbanner2024 And Oliver!
@@PokedigiZ of course
Lol it's not original. It's Oliver Twist with animals.

If Billy Joel sings this for his concert in Louisville, I swear to God, I'll scream. ... In a good way.
XD Same

Billy Joel kills every time! Haven't heard this tune in a decade or better.
One of the more under appreciated songs in Disney’s library for sure (actually, that goes for all songs from Oliver & Company). One the reasons I love this Disney movie is because Billy Joel sings this song.
Billy Joel is a legend!!!
This song from Billy Joel rocks big time. It shouldn’t die, either. 👍🏼 if you think that it should be used as a tool for New Yorkers everywhere.
This whole soundtrack is amazing! I was born a year after this movie was made. I got it on VHS when I was 3 years old so '92. I listen to this whenever I have to deal with super heavy traffic when driving in the city. Works like a charm to keep my anxiety at bay.
Brings up my spirits every time.
I'm only 14 and I remember watching this when i was 5, it's still one of my favourite disney movies and the songs are 10 times better than some of the latest disney movies.
im 19 and still have the vhs tape. This is a hard song to forget
It so is, I downloaded the song and listen to it while I study. I usually end up dancing with my dog instead of actually getting work done though....
8 years later and the songs are still 10 times better
Now your 23! I hope you show your kids( if you have any) this movie :) new Disney is garbage
This movie became even more awesome when I learned that Billy Joel voiced Dodger!
I never knew that til now. Thanks :)
The man truly has some awesome range as far as performance goes. Lol
I’m a huge Billy Joel fan and hearing this always puts me in a good mood. My favorite song by him is “We Didn’t Start the Fire.”

Billy Joel is a very awesome singer and actor.
If only Billy Joel knew how huge of a part he was of my childhood because of this movie.
Looking back, it’s no surprise to me that I became a Billy Joel fan.
I've been listening to this song for about 2 hours straight. :)
JUST two hours?! ;)
Still a great Disney song after 36 years.
twenty years later and I still love this song
This takes me right back to my childhood
Regardless of this being for a kids movie , it’s still just a badass song in itself
this song brings back some great childhood memories
Good to see so many more people on here re-living their childhood.
The best song ever... and I'm not talking about the One Direction song!
This song is so Grammy worthy!!!

As the last film in the Bronze Age of Disney (1965-1988), this film and song sure are a return to form.
They certainly knew where to go from here.
I'd love to see this made into a Broadway musical.
Its just Oliver Twist though...Except with cats and dogs.
KaosuVolt That's the point.
I want singing cats and dogs on stage!
@@SkilesHasFunYou just put a funny little picture in my head.

After all these years, this song is still one of my very favourites. I LOVE hearing it. :)
There is no one more worthy than Billy Joel to sing a song so representative of New York.
I knew this was a straight banger at 5 years old 💯 S/O to Oliver & Company

Why don't we use "Street Savoir Faire" instead of swag?
Because it's too long of a saying for idiots who'd rather use 'swag'.
