Anyone within a thousand miles should stop at Baxters. I did from N E Ohio yesterday and was lucky to see and talk with "Fuzzy" between his trips. A fantastic museum collection of British bikes can be seen in the back. Bought some do- dads and a shirt. Take care Fuzzy and was grand to meet you. The highlight of my trip. WAHOO!!!
Takes me back. I rode a '59 Venom Clubman in the '60s. There was a knack to starting it with the high compression piston, but under way it was good fun. Even with a twin leading shoe front brake, it took a bit of stopping. These days I'm on a KTM 1290 SAS. The evolution of fast bikes has been a joy.
That was such a treat to watch - honestly that's the best looking "Clubman" Velo I've seen for some time - it looks to be in super condition and seems to fly along !! I always preferred it to the Thruxton which was a bit too much of a racer - the Clubman is the best of them all in my opinion . . Such a beautiful bike, how privileged are you to ride such a beauty as your FIRST Velocette ! - not just a mint Clubman but a Veeline too 😊 Wahoo ! indeed . .😊😅
Designed for windy roads, circuits and touring. Same frame for the 350 and 500 engines. Not a massed production but and enthusiast's motorcycle. Impeccable handling and a joy to ride, good with a sidecar, the standard 500 (MSS) was developed for this and evolved into the Venom, the mods being the cam, and gear ratios. They still dominate classic pre and post war racing. Spares still manufactured to keep them on the road.
Swinging the shocks forwards softens the suspension and swinging them backwards hardens it. That system was patent-registered since '53. Don't fear for the gearbox it is built like one of a class 8 truck. Yes, normally the air intake of the brake is covered with a perforated plate. By the way, the founder of Velocette, a German by the name of Johannes Gütgemann, was born not far from Ludwig van Beethoven's birthplace. Regards from a German Velocette rider.
I don’t have any idea why. But. The movie contact came to mind while you were riding that… Jodie foster locked in the chair saying good to go. Great review. Cool bike thanks man.
I recollect reading a contemporary road test of the Veeline Clubman in a British journal. The writer describe a feeling of being a bit like Rip Van Winkle has he climb aboard the the 64 Veeline Clubman. Has unit Triumph T120 or Norton 650 ss were the fastest and go-to at the time, although the Venom was not the fastest (approx 103 mph top speed) it would steer and certainly out handle both the Bonnie and the Norton. Plus it had that pre war look and feel of a classic single cylinder 500cc track racer.

Yeah!!
I was waiting for a gleaming alloy air car to come shooting towards you, two lanes wide. That bike definitely has some Red Barchetta vibes. 😂
NIce!

Such a great handling motorcycle. I would say that would be its main characteristic next to the engine feel
Did it sell at auction?
I think I saw it in the back room a week ago.
Fantastic Fuzzy & bike was Buzzy😂.
Hahaha 😂Fuzzy tried to buy it😂 & why not.
Yes it was!
