no i am not, i learned that most berserkers have similar patterns and you have to be aggressive at parrying and building up the stun meter to kill them.@@darkmans666
You missed the biggest trick of all which is to use spear siphon and use the spear hits/spear explosion to max out his stun meter. Also, that big green puddle can be interrupted by rage fury, or any runic attack so you don't have to roll away from those.

In terms of interrupting his aerial attacks,. I dont think its about timing, its about his moves Certain moves are not meant to be interrupted, meaning you cant stop him from these, but some you can For example i think his “in air elemental summoning” attack and “fire ball from the air” attacks cant be interrupted But the one where he clapped, blinding and damaging you,. with huge AOE, that one can be taken down,. Its the only way anyway, because you cant dodge or block

Great video! For some reason the way you break down these helps me a bunch. I used your GNA video as well. Ps- gna is awful. I don’t think I have ever struggled with a boss like her. It took me way longer than I care to admit.
I remember Sigrun being ridiculous but GNA has this spin move with her wings that i have a really hard time predicting. When she does the red circle vs not required such quick reflexes. Good news is I finally got her and I’m now onto the king which your video is helping with. Thanks again! I’m gonna check out your channel and see if you do any dark souls type boss vids. Those are my normal game style.
Thanks for the detailed breakdown of the fight, especially those skewed parry timing aoe attacks and how to bring him down pre raged attack. I'm still only up to getting him to about half health and naturally success can only come from learning every move and how to evade because the rng varies drastically for this boss and you have to stay healthy for far longer than any other berserker battle... which is why we love these games, cheers for now
So a few technical things important here. 1) The big area poison attack. U always break that with rage. I noticed you have a lot of rage so trying not to use it and keep it for that attack. 2) using Alfheim set , black bear pauldron and bracer + belt of radiance will give you A LOT of damage. Because when you last second evade you do Bifrost damage and you have realm shift meaning time to grab a health stone or punish his attack and with Alfheim strike you next attack will deal more damage. 3) When he goes into the air and throws the fireballs or frost rain you CAN NOT bring him down just avoid the attack. 4) you can't stagger him when he has that little white icon next to his health bar. You should punish every attack but not use runic attacks. He has runic armour the only way to stagger him is by using rage which I highly advise against see 1) for explanation. 5) ALWAYS try to stay as close to him as possible if an attack is meant to be from far away he'll move the closer you are the more damage you can do and break attacks 6) Blue ring attacks are unparryable, unlockable, undodgeable always break them that's why I recommend staying close. That's the juice of what I think it's important to know when going into the fight.
Brilliant breakdown, it's helped massively, getting me closer to defeating him. It's that attack at 6.31 that kills me every time, can't time the parry and I have onslaught shield, parry shield is not levelled.
I think we can bring down Hrólf when he is on its way to pull off the Bifröst vengi in the sky even after the red ring signal (it works to me, but not other Vengi of other elements, but I do see some players bring down Hrólf when it uses Isa (ice) vengi or Eldir (fire) vengi). Great video in breaking down and explain the Hrólf’s moveset and how to react with them. Many other “How to beat” videos are seemingly beating the bosses without actually narrating what they are actually doing in each segment.

the thing which you have got wrong is the axe attack while he is in air,you cannot stop all his attacks with the axe while he is in air,it is a different attack which is a bit delayed so that you can successfully get that axe attack in time,otherwise that attack can blind you.Additionally,it was also the part of the bifrost berserker's moveset that you find in niflheim,i guess her name was skothjendi
I’m doing this on gmgow and he’s harder, for me, than any soulsbourne sekiro boss. I’ve beaten them all, but don’t know what to do with this one. What I can’t deal with is the AI tracking your every vulnerability, knowing that your shields about to break, knowing you’re about to shield slam to cleanse bifrost, knowing that you don’t have a weapon you can throw in your hand etc and taking every possible step to make things impossible for you. Plus I’ve got bifrost storms going, emptying 6 runic attacks into him, plus normal and I’m lucky if I get more than one bar off him. The worst thing though is that he’s open, standing still, no red or yellow rings so I hit him with an L1 and he arbitrarily takes half my health with a red ring attack, right in the middle of a simple L1 animation that’s just ridiculous, impossible to defend against . Other times he’ll throw an ice ball right in my face giving me no opportunity to avoid it. Souls games hits could feel random or chaotic but, never arbitrary. The boss would be hard enough if it was fair. No need for getting arbitrarily, unavoidably sodomized without any warning, in the middle a simple animation. There are laws against that kind of thing.
6:01 I literally just knocked him down right after the red circle disappeared, using charged up L2+R2 with the Leviathan axe, and it did knock him down. His AoE still got through but it seemed like the damage was a lot less compared to if you didn’t knock him down/dodge in time

Regarding bringing berserkers down from aerial attacks: There's an attack where they say bifrost vengi. You have to hear or read this, there's no way to tell from the body. Only that can be brought down with an axe or spear ranged hit otherwise there's nowhere to dodge. You'll get hit with bifrost. In other attacks you cant bring them down no matter what stage of the animation they are at, except one cool hack you need to know: You can bring them down by throwing a frosted axe (hold ∆) in occasions where a normal axe throw wont. Similarly, if your spears are buried in him then you can detonate them while he's in the air, that sometimes staggers them from the air. Credit goes to akhtafasu!

I understand the frustration that comes with difficult games, it’s only natural. However, these bosses are explicitly designed to be rather difficult compared to story bosses; imagine if Thor was so hard to beat that players got stuck in the story? It simply doesn’t make sense in terms of game design

Think of it this way: If this is really "Story/Easy Mode" as some of you say..... Why even bother trying to dodge and parry every "single" attack moves this boss does at all, when you could just "Brute force" your way like how you did on every boss you "seem" to have defeated on "EASY/STORY" mode?

Thing is. .. I'm aware of all of these moves. Just in the heat of battle .... It's hard to be sharp for the entire length of the fight. This stuff happens real fast.
For me in my opinion this boss is easy once you memorize his moveset and all the other stuff but the reason why I keep dying because of him when I got him to really low health was because of the part where he does a elemental attack on your face well because pf that I keep dying and I noticed from this video that you can parry him but the downside of me is that I dont know how to parry good so I trained and I got better at parrying so I will be fighting him the next day and I will post a comment showing that I either win or lose.
In my game Hrolf just tanks runic attacks randomly, most times he gets staggered by them but then, out of nowhere, he doesn't and I get hit. Also, that double ring attack is impossible for me to interrupt without any realm shift, he's just too fast.
Nice explanation. This dude is the last thing before platinum. Was hoping there was a cheese… After doing this a few more times on Balanced i share the sentiment that you are doing this on Easy or Story. He has so many one-tap attacks but you were losing 10% health. His attacks never take less than 50% of Kratos’ health with all level 9 gear.
I have gear on that does 40% less damage. I'm level 9 gear + Give Me No Mercy. Go check my Live Tab for proof. I'm currently doing a 2nd run on Give me God of War. You guys crack me up 🤣 We don't play on easy mode here.
Dang.. sorry to hear this and yes these fights are so frustrating - I'm about to fight this guy for the first time on GWGOW (this guide was on Give Me No Mercy). Going to be brutal - I'll end up streaming it too in case you want to stop by and watch me die 100 times haha.
@@dionnelever85 If this was really "story mode" as you think you say, the boss would not be able to do so many Different Skillsets, the aggressiveness on the attacks and dashes....and you didn't see him get damaged because he was parrying, dodging and shield strike staggering at the right moments.
Shew. This guy is kicking my ass. Every attempt I get a little closer 🤣 My timing sucks and I always end up hitting the wrong button at some point and throw off my groove . Every mistake is costly aF in this fight, especially failing to stop that bifrost explosion attack in time lol
Keep six spears in him at all times I used these to knock him out of the air which works 8 times out of ten. Instead of just rage I use the one that stops attacks and gives you health. This works well with some of the moves that’s hard to dodge. In the end it’s all about patience you can’t rush him or get greedy with your hits.
I dont see it in my video - was it showcased here? Its been so long since I did this I dont remember the fight. I'm doing a 2nd playthrough on GMGOW so I'm sure I'll stumble across this again but I dont see that move in this video. I'll check again.
Would help if the shields actually blocked. This game is fucking bullshit! I'm trying to follow you step by step but the shield doesn't do what it's supposed to do.
So in my 2nd Playthrough I ended up switching ( and loving) the Guardian Shield. Try that one out. Also, if you miss time your Parry, your guard is broken leaving you vulnerable for a hit from the Boss (or any enemy). To mitigate this, I use Valor right when Im about to get hit. Valor, when used at the right time, Heals you AND prevents from taking damage. I hope this helps and yes I completely understand your frustration... trust me. I was just as pissed off. This guide you see here was not my first and only attempt. I leave all of my LIVE VODS up on the LIVE tab as proof. We are on the 2nd Playthrough now (Give Me God of War). I'm about to stream Callisto Protocol but once Im done with that game Im going right back to GoW to finish up. Swing by if you can.
I'm actually really starting to believe these youtubers are doing it on easy mode cause there's no fucking way. How's about you show us the real difficulty you are doing it on cause I really don't think you have it on normal or hard. For one he does 3 back to back red attacks for me straight off the bat not giving me much chance to perry or get out of the way. You seem to be able to stand still long enough to even get a hit on him or change your weapon which I don't.

Hahahaha! I've just changed it to the easiest difficulty which is what this guy has it on. Trying to fool people! If you are doing it on give me balance or above that then this isn't the video for you! He's literally doing it on the give me story hence why he's able to perry the attacks and stay still long enough without getting his arse handed to him.

4:43 yes you can pull him down, I’ve done it a few times. Just frost the axe and throw it at him it works on pretty much every air attack he has

This is less stressful and easier than Gna
This game is sooo unnecessarily hard. Thor, Heimdal and Odin are easier than a the King and the GNA? GTFOH

For me in my opinion this boss is easy once you memorize his moveset and all the other stuff but the reason why I keep dying because of him when I got him to really low health was because of the part where he does a elemental attack on your face well because pf that I keep dying and I noticed from this video that you can parry him but the downside of me is that I dont know how to parry good so I trained and I got better at parrying so I will be fighting him the next day and I will post a comment showing that I either win or lose.
Ok cool! Yeah he is easier has time goes on but the Poison Move will get ya.
You or the woman can knock him down with attacks, she can use arrows to do it I found to knock him down.

In my game Hrolf just tanks runic attacks randomly, most times he gets staggered by them but then, out of nowhere, he doesn't and I get hit.
Also, that double ring attack is impossible for me to interrupt without any realm shift, he's just too fast.
Nice explanation. This dude is the last thing before platinum. Was hoping there was a cheese… After doing this a few more times on Balanced i share the sentiment that you are doing this on Easy or Story. He has so many one-tap attacks but you were losing 10% health. His attacks never take less than 50% of Kratos’ health with all level 9 gear.
I have gear on that does 40% less damage. I'm level 9 gear + Give Me No Mercy. Go check my Live Tab for proof. I'm currently doing a 2nd run on Give me God of War. You guys crack me up 🤣 We don't play on easy mode here.

You can only knock him out of the air when he does the bifrost attack which is an unblockable aoe

@@dionnelever85 If this was really "story mode" as you think you say, the boss would not be able to do so many Different Skillsets, the aggressiveness on the attacks and dashes....and you didn't see him get damaged because he was parrying, dodging and shield strike staggering at the right moments.

My timing sucks and I always end up hitting the wrong button at some point and throw off my groove . Every mistake is costly aF in this fight, especially failing to stop that bifrost explosion attack in time lol
yeah there were so many times on stream where I would just restart the fight if I messed up even once.
@@oxfordking yeah I've done that plenty. Don't bother using revive cuz I barely knocked his health down lol or just restart checkpoint
Keep six spears in him at all times I used these to knock him out of the air which works 8 times out of ten. Instead of just rage I use the one that stops attacks and gives you health. This works well with some of the moves that’s hard to dodge. In the end it’s all about patience you can’t rush him or get greedy with your hits.

Would help if the shields actually blocked. This game is fucking bullshit! I'm trying to follow you step by step but the shield doesn't do what it's supposed to do.
So in my 2nd Playthrough I ended up switching ( and loving) the Guardian Shield. Try that one out. Also, if you miss time your Parry, your guard is broken leaving you vulnerable for a hit from the Boss (or any enemy). To mitigate this, I use Valor right when Im about to get hit. Valor, when used at the right time, Heals you AND prevents from taking damage. I hope this helps and yes I completely understand your frustration... trust me. I was just as pissed off. This guide you see here was not my first and only attempt. I leave all of my LIVE VODS up on the LIVE tab as proof. We are on the 2nd Playthrough now (Give Me God of War). I'm about to stream Callisto Protocol but once Im done with that game Im going right back to GoW to finish up. Swing by if you can.
I'm actually really starting to believe these youtubers are doing it on easy mode cause there's no fucking way. How's about you show us the real difficulty you are doing it on cause I really don't think you have it on normal or hard. For one he does 3 back to back red attacks for me straight off the bat not giving me much chance to perry or get out of the way. You seem to be able to stand still long enough to even get a hit on him or change your weapon which I don't.

Hahahaha! I've just changed it to the easiest difficulty which is what this guy has it on. Trying to fool people! If you are doing it on give me balance or above that then this isn't the video for you! He's literally doing it on the give me story hence why he's able to perry the attacks and stay still long enough without getting his arse handed to him.
