Quick Change Tool Post Adapter for Mini Lathe + Cassette box

Today's latest modification to my desktop lathe is adding a quick-change tool holder. As soon as the upgrade kits arrived, everything was implemented the same day, and I even had time to try some turning :) Of course, there are more exciting upgrades ahead for this lathe, including converting it into a full-fledged CNC machine. But, as I mentioned earlier, that's for the future. While it is already equipped with motors, other components are still on their way. Be patient, everything will be done in due time, and I'll definitely share my progress.
For now, let's talk about the tool holder... For its installation, you'll need a screw with an M6 threaded handle, 55 mm in length (I had a 60 mm one on hand, so I trimmed the excess), and a trapezoidal wedge-clamp, which I made and showed you last time. I also made similar wedged clamps with M5 threads last time, and I bought an M5 screw-handle with the minimum length as well. I'll show you what that's for next time; it will come in handy.
Additionally, today I printed a bushing for the tool holder base. You'll also need a washer for the M6 screw. This part needs to be printed with 100% fill, and a plastic part is sufficient for reliable installation of the tool holder. However, you could also machine it on the lathe - it's relatively simple. What’s not simple is wasting so much material, especially since aluminum is soon going to be more expensive than gold :) Just kidding, but the prices are constantly rising.
And as a bonus - a box for tool bit cassettes. In the video, I showed all the processes happening with the lathe today, including making the box. Everything was printed using eSUN plastic, with links also in the description.
There’s much more exciting stuff ahead: upgrading the feed system, adding position sensors and automation, etc. Each new part and modification gets the lathe closer to being something can sit back and watch while it works without having to manually crank its handles. Здравствуйте, а по преобразованию в чпу, видео будет? Я на это станок сделал эл.гитару и регулятор оборотов шпинделя с обратной связью, но до чпу не довел... Ваши работы по качеству, дизайну и инженерии это всегда высший пилотаж! Спасибо за интересный контент.

да, конечно же будет, но на данном этапе не все компоненты приехали, да и параллельных проектов много, как по работе, так и хоббийных, которыми делюсь здесь...

Втулка напечатана из ABS. Этого вполне достаточно для хорошей фиксации. Можно и выточить из того же алюминия, но нет смысла. На сжатие пластик не хуже в данной конструкции, главное 100%е заполнение чтоб было. Да из любого пластика можно, ну не флексы конечно... Твердые... Точить начну когда он станет ЧПУ... А пока что так, по мелочам использую...
