Each bolt/stud is made to meet specific requirement for different applications and the price is based on manufacture cost and profit. That is why bolts/studs need different specifications. The tests carried out in the video have only shown one of the bolt/stud characters - tensile strength. And only the $0.5 bolt and BMW stud have specification on them, 5.8 and 12.9 respectfully. The 5 means a tensile strength of 500 MPa and 12 stands for 1200 MPa. Lets just forget the .8, .9, and MPa for now. The BMW tensile strength should be 1200/500 =2.4 times of that $0.5 bolt. As shown in the video, the $0.5 bolt needs 3857 kg to break, then the BMW should be able to take 9257 kg instead of 5569 kg. So, it could be that the $0.5 bolt is over spec or the BMW is under spec. However, the story should not stopped here. Since BMW is specifically designed to keep all off you expensive engine parts from flying apart, tensile strength is not the only requirement. The yield strength and thread accuracy are equally important. So, it is possible that the BMW may cost more than $50!

Die Schrauben haben alle eine andere Funktion. Die Zylinderkopfschrauben von BMW und andere Autohersteller sind zB Dehnschrauben und nur einmal zu verwenden, das ist auch richtig so. ARP sind mehrfach verwendbar, also einfach nur hart und zäh nicht so dehnbar und speziell für extreme Tuning Motoren gedacht. Eine normale 12.9 er Schraube ohne das sie eine Zylinderkopfschraube ist, wird andere Ergebnisse liefern. Nehme ich billig Schrauben und vergleiche sie mit den härtesten die es gibt für ganz spezielle Zwecke, ist klar wer gewinnt. Übrigens gibt es auch einen deutschen Hersteller der spezielle Zylinderkopfschrauben, wie ARP herstellt, das sollte man vergleichen.

Known that about bricks since I was a child, my dad was a farmer and also a carpenter and mason and he always told me that old brick were stronger than new (back in the 60's 70's 80's he would buy tons of old used brick that had old cement on them and have me sit on a bucket and clean piles of brick of old cement and he would later reuse them to build walls on homes. The old cement would crumble off of the brick using a masonry hammer and even rubbing two of them together the cement would come off when cleaning them but largely the brick would hold together, the brick gets stronger with age as long as they are sound and still whole. That is why if you see a brick wall with a crack in it from the house settling the crack will almost always be in the cement and not the brick.

Known that about bricks since I was a child, my dad was a farmer and also a carpenter and mason and he always told me that old brick were stronger than new (back in the 60's 70's 80's he would buy tons of old used brick that had old cement on them and have me sit on a bucket and clean piles of brick of old cement and he would later reuse them to build walls on homes. The old cement would crumble off of the brick using a masonry hammer and even rubbing two of them together the cement would come off when cleaning them but largely the brick would hold together, the brick gets stronger with age as long as they are sound and still whole. That is why if you see a brick wall with a crack in it from the house settling the crack will almost always be in the cement and not the brick.
If you don't try to beat a mosquito with a hammer, Chinese products are the best, they cost less.
