You should come visit the old west end in Toledo Ohio tour some homes and see the museum .... the old west end festival happens every year.
So nice to see an historic home still standing proud after all those depressing stories of the Gilded age mansions that were torn down.
I agree, but if you notice most of the houses that have been demolished in this series are the enormous "marble palaces "that require both a large, disposable fortune to run/heat/keep repaired and a large staff of people who are no longer willing to do that kind of work.
@Lydia Gaebe, I agree wholeheartedly. I will never be among the bloodthirsty mob making excuses for why a perfectly good structure must be destroyed. Sometimes the better answer you & I believe in takes a little bit of patience. Period.
@@LJB103 This really isn't the right kind of channel for you.
@@twistoffate4791 Obviously, as you have no idea what I like you should keep your thoughts to yourself.
@@twistoffate4791I don't like seeing them demolished either, but I am able to face reality no matter how much I don't like it.
You can tell Ken really loves these classic homes which makes "This House" videos even more enjoyable.
Ken is the king of walk throughs. Never leaves anything out. Always great presentation and narration.
Hells yeah! I want to see ALL the vintage homes that are not open to the public! 😃
Great tour! ❤️
Same!
The number of gorgeous homes in St. Louis is incredible!
With alot of these older homes you show I always see some room or space or window..something and I'm thinking, 'uh! I need that in my home!' Or the other is 'ohhh, so that's what I was trying to accomplish'. Love older homes w the natural woodwork and every room, door, closet, hidden shelf ECT, has a purpose. You cannot beat an older home's style and class and dedication. They were built to last.
Hi. I enjoy the videos... seeing the historic houses. You give a nice preservation, I have a 1883 victorian house I love. Thank you
I enjoy your narration of the details; this is a lovely old home.
Love the butler's pantry 😍
I have found that the butler's pantries in these older homes are among my most favorite spots in the houses. I love the built-in beauty & cozy atmosphere.
What an exquisite old home!!! You certainly don't see this attention to detail in the houses built today!!! Thanks for sharing this exciting video!!! 👍👍
So many new houses are just a set of featureless white boxes...rooms with absolutely no character or personality. When did people decide that they liked that more than homes like this with all those beautiful features.
I honestly can't pick my favourite thing about this house, I loved everything. Even the shutters and the way they fold into the window frames are beautiful.
Such a gem
I can just see the ladies in their gowns descending the staircase, with men in their tophats waiting below. I would love to stay in one of those comfortable big bedrooms, with the huge windows. I can dream, right??
One of the prettiest homes I have ever seen!
Your channel is always part of my weekend morning! Love starting my day with you and coffee.
I love you how bright and colorful this house is.
This is one of those homes that I certainly would love to live in with the rest of my family. 😁 Thank you for the tour. 👍 😊💝
Wow...that circular landing!
Love this! I've always wanted to see inside this beautiful house. Great tour as usual, Ken and team!
Love it…so warm and cozy.
Love that living room with the Chandelier! Love from Vancouver Canada 🇨🇦
Thanks for the post. With 2 bad knees, my days of touring homes, museums, etc. are over. Thanks to internet videos, I am able to be an armchair traveler in both time and space (history videos). Unfortunately, you can't take long walks and hikes by video. I miss doing that, but get around a little better now that I have a rolling walker.
Once again “gorgeous home”. I like how you keep us focus on the beautiful details. Thank you for the link to Love in the Park.
This is just BEAUTIFUL ❤.
I really appreciate how the video moves slowly so we can see all the intricate details of the house 🏠 as they show each room.
I loved this!!!Great job. This house is so special!
I love the wall paper in the foyer
We are so glad to see the renovation of Tower Grove. Thanks for reporting, Ken.
Absolutely beautiful
Thank you for posting this wonderful video of this fantastic house
I like how calmly his voice informs everyone on the details of the homes and the cinema photographer does a great job in not filming too fast with clean, sharp edits
THANK YOU ✨🤍✨🏆🏆🏆
Love love love those tall ceilings!!
Beautiful house. Love the decor. Thanks much for the tour.
Love the "summer cover" on the fireplace.Never knew what those were. How wise.
That blue crown molding really caught my eye. Loved that
My favorite park!
What a beauty! St. Louis has so many beautiful homes. Thank you for taking us to some of these great homes!
I love how the mirror over the fireplace in the music room will reflect the light coming in through the bay window. I am sure they only turn on the lamps in the chandelier after dark! I absolutely love the plantation window shutters that hide in the window casements. I wish that were more common, but I have never seen such a thing before. This is a beautiful house. On one hand, it is too bad that it isn't a family home any more, but on the other hand if it was we wouldn't have ever been able to see the interior. So for that I am grateful.
THANK YOU!!! I really appreciate your tours. What I really appreciate is that you don't rush through the structure. The videographer does an excellent job as well.
Incredible, happy haircut!! No central AC. Furnishings are astounding! Basement? Garage? Hot water heat. Thanks for sharing!
I was going to add that it's so nice to finally see one of these houses that's still with us today but someone has already stated. I couldn't agree more! It's so sad to know we are losing our architectural and cultural history with the destruction of these beautiful places. Great video as always! Thanks!
I have seen many houses... But this is the very first time I can see the interior of one mirador from these italiante home. Thank you so much for fulfilling my curiosity.
Just Beautiful!!
Very, very beautiful! Enchanting to see!
What a fantastic home! Thank you!
You're videographer is excellent!
Incredible house. Thanks for the fabulous tour.
What a gorgeous home! Thank you for this fascinating tour.
So pleased that the butlers pantry wasn't torn out. Loved the turret. Beautiful grounds the home's and park's.thank you for the tour.
Wow. So beautiful. Thanks.
Oh wow! The main stairs are so beautiful!
Love the in person videos. Great work!
What a great find. The chandelier, to the best of my knowledge, was made in Spain. My parents had 4 or 5 in their last home. I've seen this type of window shutter, encased in the window frame, usually in Europe.
Cheers from Coastal South Carolina
I just love what you guys do! Love “tagging along” to see these homes. ❤
Thanks, ken! This is such a pleasant escape...
Love this amazing house!! Thank you for taking us along!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🇺🇸
Thank you for showing us this house! Amazing!
Thank you, Ken, for a lovely, informative tour of this magnificent home! You make it seem as if I am right there with you. I adore the built in Shutters! I first saw them in the Charles S. Brown House in St. Louis, MO, that is being restored in “The Second Empire Strikes Back”. What a grand way to deal with the heat & Sun of summer as well as the cold of Winter & it’s ensuring darkness. Thanks, again!
Beautiful home
Thank you for this wonderful tour!
SO beautiful. Is this privately owned?
Awesome video Ken. That's a beautiful house.
What a gorgeous house.
💛
Great video. I think the flow and editing are getting better. 👍
Wow! Thank you for this!
This is a beautiful home. Thank you for sharing it with us. I did some research on the family who lived here from the late 1800s to 1996. James Gurney was a gardener in London who was commissioned from Regents Park in London to help develop Tower Park in 1866. This home passed to his children and later his grandchildren who all served as superintendents of Tower Park. James Gurney had two granddaughters, Bernice and Flora, who were born in 1900 and 1906, respectively. Neither woman ever married or had children. I find this to be common among women in the 1900s who inherit property; with the financial security of home ownership they don't have to marry and follow the social norms of their time.
Massive Door Hinges: I think those door hinges are designed to allow the door to swing open in either direction. The then equivalent of a swinging door. There may be internal springs to close the door as well.
Yes, you are right, I've seen lots of them.
The way you move around, invite us in, and capture details in such a tight schedule is honestly masterful. Is this your specialty or someone on your team? Do you have any cinematic inspirations or is this the result of self reflection?
Wow!!! Beautiful home!! Glad to see it is still standing and giving its love to those that come through.
so beautiful I love the whole set up and the stairs up to the look out
"OMG" Awesome, Great Job Ken!
This house is beautiful.
Absolutely lovely
Really beautiful family home.
Thank you ❗️
This is absolutely marvelous. I enjoy the feel of a private tour with video shots and camera work that allows for pausing for a much better and in depth view. This was very well done.
Beautiful home. Beautiful grounds. Really loved the wood shutters; the fireplaces; the floral wallpaper; the royal blue color in the main bedroom in an otherwise drab room. The inset wood in the vestibule doors is very similar to The Second Empire Strikes Back in Kens home in St. Louis.
I really enjoy your channel and you do an excellent job in showing these homes. This particular home is beautiful. It would be like a dream to live in this home. It is a shame that homes like this are a thing of the past and the workmanship skills rarely exist these days.
Perfection! Thank you❤
Wow! A stair well in a bathroom? No thing as privacy there. :0) Those plantation shutters were also used to keep the cold out in the winter as windows weren't double paned or have storm windows to add. Have to say though, that house and park area are beautiful. Thanks for the "tour".
I started to watch your videos a few weeks ago...sorry, I can't believe I just found it. I absolutely love the way you conduct your tours. Knowledgeable, professional and I feel I am having a tour in person. Other channels have tours, BUT, it gets monotonous. Using the same descriptions for every single room or repeating words/phrases in every sentence...ie; hey, guys, like, like, like, check it out guys 🙄.
I need to sit and watch more of your videos. Keep up the fantastic work and many blessings for continued success!
Beautiful Home; excellent millwork.
Thank you Ken.
End of day means This House time😁
Ok? For all of the house museums that I have toured, none has ever had a staircase in a bathroom. I'm guessing that this house did not originally have indoor plumbing and bathrooms were snuck in anywhere that there appeared to be room. Is this home lived in and you have permission to tour it, or is it on the market? Or... you mentioned brides: is it used for functions?
What ever the reason, good video.
What a beautiful house. I absolutely love the millwork! Thank you for the tour, it was very enjoyable!
i’ve always been curious what this one looked like inside! thank you!
From the first sight of the house and especially when its stairs become visible in the bathroom we were all shouting in our minds “Crows nest! Crows nest! Crows nest!”
I've been by this house before. I took a picture of it.
What a beautiful fabulous house what memories are in the walls there. What a lovely place to have grown up. Love the crows nest very nice little area to be upsetting when there’s a storm in the vicinity. Thanks Ken another fabulous video.
Gobsmackedly beautiful house! Not so sure about the gardens. But the house is very much my style and decor!
This is definitely my dream home. Thank you Ken. You never disappoint.
Great awesome video channel sir
Que linda mansão!
I love this house, the design is perfect and the details are all very beautiful!!💒🍾😁
Great job :)
Very cool
LOVE watching your videos. Would love to see a feature about the Lockwood Mathews mansion in Norwalk CT
bonjour, c'est une maison plutôt modeste par rapport à tout ces palais hélas disparue ,c'est néanmoins charmant .
I love houses with rooms. I can't stand open floor plans.
I'm with you on that. I am a person who likes cubbies. I enjoy decorating each smaller space differently. It's not for everyone, but it's definitely for me.
Same here. When I see open concept floor plan homes for sale, they just aren’t for me.
