  • For years artists have been looking for the BEST Alcohol Markers, well I think I may have found them.
This video is part of a brand new series, everything is a learning experience and I do hope you will give me your honest feedback in ways we could improve this series.
There are likely areas I missed / forgot, that is due to both the first time and nerves with my wife recording me. But it was so much fun!
    Please SUBSCRIBE and THANK - DEXBOT - / dexb0t
Anything you'd like to see us review here in this series, do not hesitate to let me know.
But seriously. I love ProMarkers..... Winsor and Newton, If you wanna sponsor, just drop me a line LoL.
Have yourselves a great day, I hope you enjoyed yourself here and I will see you all next time....

    Hey all -
I hope you all enjoy this NEW SERIES and find it useful. If there are any suggestions please please let them be known. This is my first episode and of course I wish to learn and grow on it.
I'm sorry it took so long, I had to learn how to animate and build graphs. But now these episode can release weekly :)
    If you like them.
    Have a great day.

Ok so here's topics: Hand feel. This is something you've talked about before, how do they feel in your hand. How easy are they to manipulate. After you've been holding them for a while in your hand, is that plastic going to hurt you, are there little plastic bits that chafe your hand or fingers, the smooth plastic or do they have a cellophane sticker on the marker that will make your hand sweat and chafe. How smoothly do they blend on paper. What is the best paper to use? Can we use standard 10lb copy paper or do,we need expensive Bristol board or 'Artist' paper which is 20lb card paper.

    • @widOwa
      @widOwa 3 года назад +2

They are smoooooooooth and I recommend to you to use marker paper Canson XL works fine they are 70g/m2 but they are treated (you can use any paper but if it's too thin the ink spreads and goes through the paper and if it's too thick it sucks the ink out of the marker but you can use any). They are the best alcohol markers you can find. If you have the money go for it

Maybe you can do 'a dummies guide' to alcohol markers for those who are just starting out or have troubles on how to use them.
I'm using: Touch Sketch, Reno Art, Copics (black & Lavender (think of either Espeon or Twilight Sparkle) only), Creative Graphic Marker (I got them from Aldi), Anko brand (from Kmart Australia) & ones that you can get from Daiso.

Would be interesting to see an artist that hasn't used alcohol markers rate them because when the artists are used to a type of alcohol marker they are always coming out ontop in ther rating.

When I first tried them (two years ago) I had no prior experience with any markers. I was looking for a cheap Copic alternative (for obvious reasons) and I stumbled upon these thanks to various art channels that compared different Copic alternatives. I really liked how the colors of the promarkers looked and the fact that you can buy them separately from the sets so I decided to go for those and I immediately fell in love with them ❤️

One thing I love about the pro markers (I have one gen old ones) is that the colors are more mute. All of my Copics and chameleon markers never give me the soft natural colors I want. Every color is softer and more natural, which if you’re drawing vibrant manga or illustrative art it’s Bomb, but if your doing nature or apocalyptic art like I do the pros are so much better 3

I have the full LETRASET Promarker set which has sat in my cabinet for almost a decade unused. I used to color a lot with them but due to medical reasons, I had to stop coloring for a long time. I still can't color much but I want to color a little so I just took an inventory of them and all but seven work perfectly. And when I mean perfectly, I mean as if they were brand new - super juicy, great performance. Incredible! I couldn't believe it! Promarkers are the top marker in my opinion - so easy to blend, to color hair and other detailed images and also to fill in large areas with zero streaks. I have tried other markers from time to time but none of them have come close to my Promarkers. Fan for life! ❤

I think the best way to build up a collection is threw sales, rewards savings, coupons and vouchers. I am interested to keep watching this series.
I really love your channel and always find your artwork and content very enjoyable!!! So I'm sorry if this comment comes off as contrary, but I just have a very different process for thinking about and buying markers and I'm interested to hear your thoughts! I DO think that if I'm going to pay a premium for the markers that they should be refillable and have replacement nibs. In the US these markers and SUPER expensive and not refillable so unless I'm getting them in an art box I'm not going after them.
I also think that the way that the markers are sold makes a huge difference. If you can buy them in packs that do NOT overlap - then I think that's a good strategy, but otherwise you might run the risk of getting duplicates of markers or having to buy everything open stock. If you are already at the higher end of pricing for a marker, going open stock is going to add even more to the cost. I honestly think having a good base set of all colors is always important if you are going to work with markers long term. If you are unsure about your longevity with a set of markers, I think testing a small set of grays or skin-tones is always a good bet as a first buy.
I'm very interested to know how you came up with your scales and ratings for the blend tests. I have an Ohuhu set of markers that I use alongside my smaller set of Copics, and honestly I think they blend beautifully. My biggest differences between Ohuhu and Copic are in the quality of the nib and the ability to refill the Copics and not the Ohuhus.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I look forward to hearing more about your thoughts on different brands of markers!

Do all alcohol based markers bleed through the paper? I have white sketch paper and then tan toned paper and while they don't bleed through the tanned toned paper as much they do on the white paper. Is it because of the weight of the paper?

I bought these because of your videos and how you talk about them. I always used copic before but I'm glad I made the switch. These really are amazing for the price point.

Does it matter what for a paper you use? I used a marker paper from canson and I was pretty disappointed, because the Winsor and Newton Markers bleeded out and some colors weren't able to blend.

Love the new series. Only addition that might help would be using the product while taking about it. Like when you talked about layering . (More then just the brief nib comparison). I know we have seen you use this product before but assuming it won’t be the same for every product in this series that would be helpful.

Yes! New series?! BossHogg. I love Promarkers! I prefer them to the brushmarker version. I love the bullet nib they have. Best bullet nib of all the bullet nibs, in my humble. Second best being the ultra fine bullet nib on the Spectrum Noire Illustrator series markers.
