  • Are you new to small farming, homesteading or are you just a new property owner? If so, then this video is for you. It's a cruddy day outside, so shop work it is. I have to do a service on my friends Kubota L2900 tractor so I thought it would be a good time to show you how easy it is to service your own tractor even if you have never done anything like it before. In a day and age where the mindset is the dealer has to do everything on your tractor, I'm going to show you that's NOT the case. By the end of this video, you will have the self-confidence to do just that. I step-by-step show you what basic tools you will need and how to successful change the engine oil and filter. Change the fuel filter and bleed the fuel system of air, as well as change the air filter and hydraulic filter. Then I will show you how to check all the fluids on the tractor for proper operating level on this Kubota tractor. I also share my opinion (with firsthand experience since the introduction of Tier 4 emissions engines) and set the record straight on what REALLY is the issues with today's emissions engine in all new tractors.
We are a small 40 acre direct-to-consumer livestock farm located in Upstate Western New York. We provide pasture raised/grain fed beef, pork, chicken & eggs to our local community. We practice sustainable land practices that utilize natural methods to keep our soils/pastures healthy and our animals happy.
I am the 2nd generation to live on this property after my parents purchased it in 1978. As a child my father hobby farmed a few pigs for a couple years and ran a vegetable garden. But we were not a farm by any stretch of the imagination. There were however many family dairy farms surrounding us. So naturally I was hooked with farming since I saw my first tractor. As time went on, I worked for a couple of these farms and that only fueled my love of agriculture. In 2019 I was able to move back home as my parents were ready to downsize and I was ready to try my hand at farming. Stacy and logan share the same love of farming as I do. Stacy growing up on her family's dairy farm and logans exposure of farming/tractors at a very young age. We all share this same passion to grow a quality/healthy product to share with our community. Join us on this journey and see where the farm life takes us.

Great tutorial video Matt. I liked the tip about making a funnel out of a washer fluid jug. I've run into that same issue with my lawn mower.

Thank you for watching. That's my go to when I need to use a funnel anymore. Nice part is leave the cap on and it holds the oil. take the cap off and it's a funnel to run the oil in a drain pan.

Good tips, I never thought of the diesel having a role in lubrication. Now I got to go find an empty windshield washer bottle to cut up! 😁

@@Cobbhillfarms I use jug like that to pour milk that drains out of collection jar that has straw etc (from milker getting kicked off), down thru the pipe w the filter in it.

I still look at engines that way if I'm not familiar with them and don't have a service manual to look at for reference.
