They really don't. Even the most expensive digital recording equipment can't capture all of the sound, but at that point it's above the limit of human hearing. This is probably being recorded with a mic built into a camcorder or a cellphone, so some of the cheapest stuff out there costing pennies. Just read into digital vs. analogue audio signals.
samin90 Are you trying to say that an EarthWorks M50 (Which is flat from 3Hz - 50kHz + 3dB / - 1dB), an EarthWorks ZDT 1021 Preamp (Flat from 1Hz to 200kHz +0.5dB), and an Avid HD I/O Setup (192kHz / 24-Bit, flat from 20Hz to 20kHz +/- 0.03dB) "Can't capture all of the sound"? I just listed a sub-$15k system here that can capture it all at 0.05dB precision, that's not anywhere NEAR close "the most expensive digital recording equipment"! There are studios who have mic closets with at least 1 million dollars worth of microphones, Neve consoles worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, a crap ton of outboard Preamps, cables worth 2 grand per meter!
LavaVids Pretty much. Obviously you get to the point where it doesn't matter any more because human hearing is so limited, but it's still true just because that's the nature of digital recording. Highschool physics, people.
I didn't comment on any of that. I commented on these exact phrases: "microphones can't capture the complete sound" "Even the most expensive digital recording equipment can't capture all of the sound"
Dude thank you for sharing so much footage of your car with the world. For some of us the F40 is a dream car, and most people will never have the oppurtunity of owning this car. Getting to see yours tho is truly wonderful. thank you, and good luck with the racing!
Thank you for all the videos of your F40. Truly amazing to just get to see a video of such a car. I must ask after seeing some of your videos...what do you do for a living?
@ArthrusGigawitAnteon I may be wrong, but I believe that the LM motor was relatively closely related to the road motor. I believe it mostly consisted of larger turbos and more boost. :)
Jcadlols, these motors are built to the teeth. Get proper maintenance and support & rebuilt with regularity. More than a couple have larger displacement engines over 3.0L. I think up to 3.6 on the F40LM/GTE, but not 100% on that.
It would be underwhelming those engines didn't even make 500hp at the crank. So likely ~400whp not bad for the 90's but not impressive by today standards.
@@GlassTopRX7 tf u dumb , the road version had 471 hp at crank, and for a 2.9 liters is still a good number , this one , The LM is outputting more than 700 hp
Love the sound. And the size of those meats in back. ...managgia. But who the fuck taught that guy to dive a stick. Holy macaroni dude. Talk about shit shifting and clutch drops
@ArthrusGigawitAnteon Most engine builders who have experience with racecars would probably be okay. My point was that to my knowledge, as the car is already setup for high boost, I believe the internals are standard. Getting hands on original parts is probably the harder part. :)
So it's Sunday morning and i'm gonna dyno my super rare F40. But first I'm gonna line up all my other cars in front of it. And now to hit 170 MPH on the dyno. Don't worry , the straps are newish.
oh shit this is ur car? nice dude ur lucky i didnt like the f40 when i first saw it to be honest, but then i looked at it more and i really like it now
+Robert Muniz F40 transmissions are hard to get into gear until after they warm up. Just search for a video of Jacques Lafitte driving an LM and he's having issues getting the car into gear and he's a professional.
+Robert Muniz Race versions of the F40 had straight cut gears afaik. Very fast to shift for an experienced race driver, but extremely difficult to operate. I think they're pretty sensitive regardless of temp tbh. You just shouldn't push them until they've warmed up, like any racing hardware. The McLaren F1, for example, has a warning light in the gauge cluster that stays on until the transmission has reached ideal temperatures.
I played this in the backgroums over a muted video of a 600hp b18 civic type r video and it goes perfectly. Which is credit to the covic not knocking the f40, but the even firing crak just sounds like a particularly savage inline four (or two perfectly in sync).
It's a race car ( especially the LM version, forged internals and so on) It's supposed to be pushed. If you had one would you stick it up on the plinth and look at it all day or would you drive it?
+John Z I doubt it, it will be designed to use the air it drives through as a fan is dead weight there will be a fan on the radiator but not the intercooler/s its fan on the radiator wouldn't be able to cope with the job all on its own anyway, it would need assistance from air the car is moving through at those kind of Rpm, but you can't see the front maybe it's plumbed into a cooling system at the rolling road. I've read about that before so during mapping they can accurately control the engine temperature.
Love how there dyno is pointed at a row of about 10 Ferrari's LOL!!!!
_cable snaps_
Their
I was thinking the exact same😬
I'm just glad I'm not the one that would have to pay to replace them all 🤣
Usually if something goes wrong on a dyno the car will go backwards, not forwards, because of the inertia of the rollers
Easily the most badass car on the planet, with minimal convenience and 100% performance.
You should see the F50 GT

You'll never hear this car in its full glory because microphones can't capture the complete sound.
No, you are wrong. Microphones can catch the complete sound, but they cannot catch the complete experience.
They really don't. Even the most expensive digital recording equipment can't capture all of the sound, but at that point it's above the limit of human hearing. This is probably being recorded with a mic built into a camcorder or a cellphone, so some of the cheapest stuff out there costing pennies.

ArthrusGigawitAnteon, the work on these cars are usually carried out thru the Ferrari network. Been to Classic Coach once, pretty impressive facility

Did you ever drive this to Marcus Dairy? There was an F40 there a few years back, I figure you live in the area.
@jcadlols That is correct to my knowledge. I still wanted to know where it came from though. A rebuilt motor for a F40 would probably be a tough job.
Music to my ears
what happened to the old engine (it's an engine not a motor)how many hours wear on it what broke how much money for the new ENGINE
Where did this car get dynoed, cc?
Still my favourite car and one I'd love to own....
quando scoppietta esalta un casino, auto incredibile.
what sort of power would the engine deliver with the restrictors off?
just wet my self even before the video was start! God damn the car is awesome as hell!

A real master piece of super cars. No doubt!
you don't know loud until you've been to an NHRA event and heard the top fuel cars lol
I hate open headers on a P-51
That sounds all kinds of wicked. Rebuilt motor or did someone truly miraculously find an LM engine in a crate somewhere?
@curvatamburello
I'm sure it's just backfire...hot fuel meeting oxygen and igniting in the exhaust pipes.
back in those days it didnt have one
Is it really an "LM"? Because no rear air diffuser under exhaust?
what a masterpiece

As, Jeremy Clarkson said, It sounds like God gargling
The way it jerks like that, either hes not shifting at the right time or the gear differential is not locking into place at the right time.
+Robert Muniz F40 transmissions are hard to get into gear until after they warm up. Just search for a video of Jacques Lafitte driving an LM and he's having issues getting the car into gear and he's a professional.
Yea that makes sense. Is there a reason why it's difficult until it warms up?

Why in the hell would you push a turbocharged engine like that with no air blowing through the intercoolers? Poor engine...
because its a ferrari f40lm and its indestructible
It's a race car ( especially the LM version, forged internals and so on) It's supposed to be pushed.
If you had one would you stick it up on the plinth and look at it all day or would you drive it?
AutoXmachine Poor engine?.... Oh boy......
Ko-wing wong "Virtually" indestructible - yes but it's likely have fans or blowers ready to feed air to the coolers if need be.
